Yeah, the Chicken Fingers and Paint Ball episodes were two of the best things they've done so far. This new season has had some pretty good ones too such as the Rabies outbreak, Messianic, KFC RV and Missing Pen episodes.

I'm disappointed, though not surprised considering its low--even by AMC standards--ratings. I think "Community" has actually gotten better overall this season, especially with the satire. I'm a fan so I found season 1 to be pretty great too. Looking forward to seeing "Parks and Recs" back too, that "Outsourced" is not in the same league.

I like films like 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead so this series has been right up my alley. As far as AMC shows go, this one is the least original as it mirrors too closely other works--like 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead--but, unlike those films this one has the time to have better character development so it should be interesting to see how this builds over time. I read earlier today that the first episode had 5.3 million viewers and the second 4.7. In comparison, the Mad Men Season finale had around 2.4 million viewers. It's no wonder AMC quickly renewed this for another season.

I love me some Criterions, been collecting them for years. I've tried to buy as many as I can, but there's just too many so I've filled the gaps getting them from the Library and downloading (I think I'm only missing 4 or 5.)

The Rascals/The Young Rascals

A recent favorite of mine is the funky, soulful gem pictured below. Originally self-released in Chicago by Pastor T.L. Barrett in 1971, it just recently got reissued by the fantastic "Light in the Attic" label. I second the "Fire in My Bones," Staples, Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Willie Johnson... I spin this one quite a bit: The Holmes Brothers are worth checking out too. Oh yeah, one other recent favorite is this raw gospel record:

I watched that one last week, even waded through all the extras (the only negative was the DVD menu didn't have a "Play All" option. Kinda stupid if you ask me. Anyhow...) I knew a bit of Harry's backstory but this film definitely expanded that quite a bit. Anyone else wish that some of his friends expanded upon some of those wild Harry adventures they kept alluding too. Jimmy Webb mentions one where Harry borrowed a car from him in L.A. then called him from NYC days later telling him he's shipping the car back by rail. I'm sure these crazy adventures would make for some interesting stories
