i've got love for the drone, though i don't always listen to all of it. i'd prefer it if more tones and textures emerged from it over its duration. its length and the way it contrasts with the rest of the songs gives the album a unique shape. the noise at the end of handshake drugs is really beautiful. a ghost is born is truly an amazing record!

I have the Brit version. Definitely no enhanced content. It doesn't say anywhere on the packaging that there is extra stuff, and when I put the CD in my mac nothing happens. Audio files only. If you bought the album in the UK, regular or deluxe (with DVD) version, don't bother looking for the enhanced content... it isn't there. Hopefully the band will make the extra stuff available to UK customers somehow? aaaaaaaand maybe someone could PM me The Thanks I Get? Please?

Still trying to get into What Light and Leave Me, but loving the others. Lots of people seem unsure about Shake It Off?! The first section reminds me of A Ghost is Born, with the obscure melody and unusual changes, which is great. Then it goes into that funky bit, which probably has the deepest groove on the album. It sounds like Stevie Wonder! It's great! Then it does what we might call the chorus, including that crazy but AWESOME broken-up rhythm bit (triplets?). i think el tweedo deserves credit for owning up to this one. he could easily have keep quiet and who'd've known? it is really obscure. anyone who came across it and noticed would've just thought 'what are the chances it's not just a coincidence?' i wonder if the title influenced super furry animals on their (excellent) track 'hello sunshine'. though i seem to remember noticing a reggae or dub track also with that title from the 70s... peter tosh or someone? i've been enjoying relatively clean rivers. very summery. very laid-back. very 70s.

well actually, i'm the girly one out of the 2 of us (both girls, btw), so i tend to clean more, while she builds sheds or ventures capital or whatever she does. but then again, i'm the one sitting around smoking and listening to experimental americana, which, all considered, is pretty macho of me. glad you're ok with the drone.

Have been following this method for past few hours, and is proving enjoyable. Casino Queen! Good stuff. But now I need to do some cleaning... Is it OK (and do tell me if it's not) to regularly put on Less Than You Think, skip through the 'song' bit directly to the drone, and have it on pretty loud in the background while I vacuum, just, y'know, to see how the two sounds combine and stuff?
