  1. Same here. I don't feel guilty after dropping the money. Plus I ordered four tickets to the Cincinnati concert, so I've invested quite a bit in W(TA) already.
  2. Good perspective. It's always good to celebrate someone's life in these times rather than dwell in the sadness. Always easier said than done, though.
  3. I'll be happy to chip in to whatever the decided charity will be.
  4. I'd imagine his family will announce a preferred charity in lieu of flowers. That's pretty common among public deaths.
  5. I was pretty frustrated with Jay when all the lawsuit stuff came up, but I think this really just highlights how desperate his situation was and how trivial all the drama was. This is really sad...
  6. AM: That's Not the Issue BT1: Forget the Flowers BT2: Sunken Treasure ST: I'm Always in Love YHF: Reservations AGIB: Company in My Back SBS: Please Be Patient With Me W(TA): Deeper Down MA1: One By One MA2: Airline to Heaven
  7. Didn't have that problem here, but I don't think I'm going to use the app streams anyway... bit rate is atrocious.
  8. There are some minor differences, but you can stream all but the Mermaid Ave. albums on wilcoworld.net. The website also has the loft gigapan and a huge links page. I'm sure there are a few other differences. One cool thing about the app is the ability to directly listen to the podcasts so you don't have to hog up gigabytage.
  9. It's pretty cool, but it is basically their web site in app form. Has anyone found any easter eggs yet? I've been looking.
  10. I dislike some of the new album and criticize it on various threads to get peoples' thoughts... the funny thing is, people take the criticisms personally and start arguments and drama. If you like the album's sketchier, more centered aspects, I'd be glad to hear why. I want to like Wilco (The Album) as much as any other recording. It's logical to expect a lot from Wilco and when you get something that doesn't seem as nurtured as it could have been, there is room for discussion.
  11. I agree... you can definitely get a sense of the excitement Jim's contributions made when he joined on. I think it created a large creative movement within the band. There was an obvious staleness to JB's contribution and presence. There was a documentary made about the whole thing.
  12. I have the sudden urge to throw a baseball at that pic.
  13. Isn't that the underlying argument in all the new vs. old threads? Maybe there should just be a death-match to see who will reign supreme?
  14. I've been disappointed with the record (and fairly critical), but that's not to say there aren't a few tasty tidbits in there. I feel that Deeper Down stands up to some of the other "Edgier" songs people are discussing. I admit I'm going to put this record down pretty quickly, but there are a few keepers in there, and I'm going to support the band by purchasing the album. Just compare this record to 99.9% of the other bullshit that will be spewed out by other "artists" this year for some perspective.
  15. True, and I think I can see a car commercial or two in there, too. (I'm not making fun of the SBS VW commercials)
  16. I'm telling you, You and I is an iPod commercial waiting to happen. Attach Feist to something and it sells like hot cakes.
  17. LOL, touche... I have to say I have trouble stomaching a lot of beach boys, but point taken.
  18. I guessed a few pages back that it was Mr. Hudson... mainly because you can hear his organ stylings on SBS and WTA. The typewriter may also be a nod to the way Dylan and The Band used to produce content. I've heard interviews with Robbie Robertson talking about how they used to sit around The Big Pink and there would be typewriters clicking away through the whole place.
  19. ...I'll leave you to your Paula Abdul
  20. Yes, I've been in several department stores... it's hell.
  21. I'll remember that the next time I'm in a department store and You and I spools up!
  22. Unfortunately, yes. And I am already saying it... I've listened to the album a good ten-fifteen times and I'm already skipping a few songs. Very pop-happy.
  23. You mean it's not in a cave under Tweedy Manor?
  24. Is that a picture of Garth Hudson from The Band back on the typewriter on the bookshelf? It looks like him, and I've def. heard some of his influence on the organs in SBS and WTA.
  25. Beck's albums come to mind. Seems like you can get those almost the god-damned year before they come out.
