Racism, prejudice, tribalism, etc, is a part of human nature, blacks included, and, in all likelihood, is not going away any time soon. The government, through affirmative action, etc, can, to some extent, help offset some of the barriers created by racism, but, at some point, and I

On a purely technical level, sure, I would say that person is probably a better guitar player

Then does it follow to say my 13 year old nephew, who is just now learning to play the guitar, can barely form a chord, is equally as talented as, say, Eddie Van Halen? And that the tortured sounds he produces are the equal of anything Mr. Van Halen has ever produced? If I am using extreme examples, it because you are taking an extreme position.

It was intended as a joke. (**That's subjective.)

Why though? Extremes of what - good art vs. bad art?

As a journalism student, I imagine you are graded on the quality of your writing, writing that could be considered an art form, have you challenged your professors grading system? Why grade at all if it

Is Jeff Tweedy subjectively or factually a better guitar player, song writer, than a person picking up a guitar for the first time, writing their first song?

And, ironically, do more harm to the black community than the imaginary boogymen they

Though I agree with much of what Mr. Kamiya is saying, the suggestion that critical views such as those expressed by Rev. Wright are somehow new or unique to the national dialog is, well, it is absurd. Hell, Bill Maher has said as much. The web is awash in similar views

You've chosen two bands that can actually write and play music, would your opinion hold if we were to compare Dylan to say, a barely proficient, can hardly play their instruments, high school level garage band? Please don
