  1. You’re right, it is tragic, but that does not absolve the US either. But then China does not prance around the world reminding everyone of their glorious virtues and love of life. Of course we and our corporations could do the moral thing and not do business with such a country – but then you’d label me a pie-in-the-sky hippy. http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/achievement/chap15.html
  2. I think we all deserve a hearty round of applause. 3. I think it was just such an event that sparked the civil rights movement. Laundry has the power to change lives.
  4. Yeah, if after school specials were cool. Does anyone remember the steroid one featuring Ben Affleck? It was spectacular, towards the end, after being all sorts of juiced up, he had a final epic no-holds-barred-bare-knuckle-fist-fight with his bedroom wall. It. Was. Awesome.
  5. Yeah, I agree – it is a great movie. The “mirror scene” is quite good, along with the Brian Cox (one of my favorites) dialog towards the end – it gets me every time. I’m a fan of most of Spike’s movies – “Do the Right Thing” is one of my all time favorites. And Norton is the type of actor who can take even a crappy role and make it gold.
  6. Well then please, in all seriousness, do what you can to get this out there - from Salon.com: Radio silence on Bush's torture admission ABC News reported a few days ago that a group of so-called Principals -- including Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, CIA Director George Tenet, Attorney General John Ashcroft, and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice -- met dozens of times in the White House to "discuss and approve" specific interrogation techniques to be used against suspected terrorists. Initial reports indicated that
  7. Shit like that is far more nauseating and condescending and insulting than anything Obama had to say. I love how her back is turned towards the actual “voters” - who, if my eyesight is still decent, look as though they’d rather just go back to enjoying their drinks in peace. It’s a shame no one under 18 is allowed in bars - Hillary holding/kissing a baby while standing in front of a flag would have been the icing on the cake.
  8. As if Mr. Kristol spends his weekends at his local VFW, tipping back beers with the regular folk - swapping hunting stories. The only time folks like Bill and/or the vast majority of political candidates get down with the people is when they condescendingly visit local diners in search of votes. But I
  9. I was just being facetious - I'm in total agreement with you. Unfortunately, too many democrats and progressives no longer consider him relevant, and that, I think, is unfortunate. I
  10. I wish I could agree with you on this one, but, I'm not so sure:
  11. On a similar (totally fucking exciting) note - from The Onion: Kids in the Hall As a collective, Canadian sketch troupe The Kids In The Hall seemingly disappeared after some scattered reunion dates and compilation DVDs earlier this decade, but that's about to change: They're embarking on a 30-city, two-month tour. The "Live As We'll Ever Be" outing isn't being billed as a reunion tour, though
  12. I tried that, you replied with sarcasm, so at this point, I
  13. My greatest hope is that, in the end, I am in support of the wrong side of the issue, and that the skeptics will win the day. That the warming we are now experiencing is simply a natural event, a normal cycle in the life of our planet
  14. I'm not as familiar with The State, but I do recall it being fairly funny. I haven't reviewed the entire list yet, but please tell me some Mr. Show skits are on there somewhere. The Ferrell as Bush skit is a classic as well - though I do not recall it ever appearing on the telly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkqrI3IibYI
  15. Yeah, as funny as Ferrell is, Walken walks away with it. I think the Kids in the Hall is criminally unrepresented as well.
