  1. weird stat of the night. It looks like Mitt Romney will win 61% of the "white" vote. The last candiate to do that is GHW Bush in 1988. He got 400 electoral college votes. Mitt will get about 2/3rds of that.
  2. Miami Dade still has 30% or so left to count. so I expect that to move back to the left.
  3. Early on it is looking tougher for Romney. And for the first time a party appears to have lost both home states on the ticket.
  4. You also stated that Romney is going to win Illinois. Which is a one of the most ridiculous predictions I have ever read. It would be the same if I said PBO is gonna win Texas. I stand by my 320 (or so) electoral college votes for PBO. The first key state to watch is Virgina. If Mitt loses Virginia he has an extremely hard road to 270.
  5. So Ryan claimed that PBO is attacking our JudeoChristian values. At least with him I know where he stands. When politicians play to base fears it shows they got nothing. Christie / Ryan 2016 http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/11/05/14945749-a-culture-warrior-to-the-end?lite
  6. Tweedling, I have often sparred with you on this thread, and have been infuriated by you, but I will miss this thread (not so much the Sparky parts, but the rest yes). I hope the conversation will continue in the inevitable 2012 Presidential Recount (spiteful edition) thread. So if the Redskin Rule remains true it looks like a Romney Victory. Though I see it differently. My prediction Popular vote: PBO 51% Romney 49% Electoral College: PBO 319 Romney 219 State to watch Ohio. Also there will be some issues with voter irregularity and such, but none big enough to garner a rec
  7. My guess it will all fall on Ohio. As goes Ohio goes the nation. I think in the modern era no one has one the presidency without winning Ohio. But if PBO wins either FLA or Ohio it is all over.
  8. Maybe answer a question on FEMA, explaining his position that he stated in the GOP debates. Or what he sees the role of a Romney presidency in the rebuilding the East Coast. But that would require him to do something real. Which I don't think he has done since this 2008.
  9. Good to Sparky is back and presumably safe. Too bad he ignores previous posts and says the same old bullshit he has been saying for the last 2 months.
  10. Well unfortunately one of the jobs of a president is to react to disasters and use resources to prevent / aid areas of our country. Mitt has said he would eliminate FEMA. He needs to answer how a Romney presidency would respond to a disaster like this. Also what will the role of the government a post Sandy rebuilding period? Will the government take an active role with money and aid? PBO has stated as much. I am not sure what a Mitt president would do.
  11. I may be accused of politicizing a tragedy, but I am surprised no one here has mentioned Mitt’s comments in the GOP primary about FEMA and the fact that he refuses to answer any of the questions about his comments. http://www.huffingto..._n_2044213.html Also if there is one thing that this tragedy has shown it is how useful, purposeful and important the Federal government has been. From all accounts the Federal government has been on top of this and are working efficiently and effectively to manage this tragedy. Chris Christie has even praised PBO. I know that Sparky lives on the East Coa
  12. I think it is a tad early for predictions. This Sandy thing is really screwing with everything. I was gonna make my final Electoral College predictions this weekend. Gotta see the outcome of the Redskins game. It is idoitic if you think if the home state of the President is going red.
  13. Joss Whedon supports Romney http://youtu.be/6TiXUF9xbTo Gotta learn Parkour
  14. If the GOP repeats the lie enough times it becomes true right. For all this talk about fact checkers and whatever. They have pretty much done a shitty job and have let both sides get away with a lot.
  15. Either way, popular vote or Electoral College you a discounting a large groups and completely ignoring them. The electoral college is not the great bastion of republican (small r - not the party but the political system) government as you make it out. Nor is the popular vote away to elect a president. Both have flaws. But you know the Electoral College is not going anywhere anytime soon. I am just saying it has problems, keeping people in solidly red or blue states form voting and thinking their vote does not matter. Voter turnouts are lower in these predetermined states than the "swi
  16. Not much different from going from Ohio, to Iowa, to Wisconsin, ignoring any state where an outcome is predetermined. The electoral college is not a perfect system. The popular vote has its issues as well. We live in a large country with a population spread out and also centralized in large cities. I think the problem is the winner take all thing that is troublesome. I always thought a proportional electoral vote might work better. For example a state like Wisconsin (with 10 votes) would divide this way. 2 votes would go for the highest percentage and then each congressional district
  17. Hard throwing Japanese pitchers have worked out so well in the past.
  18. That is a sad statement (and one of the problems with the electoral college). Regardless if your state is solidly red or blue, you should vote. I am sure that there are other state and local elections that aren't as close.
  19. I was actually disappointed that I had to vote early. It really bothered me that my vote was put into an envelope with my name on it. And I love the idea of everyone in the US getting together on the same day and collectively trying to shape the government. The line seemed to be particularly long at my city clerks office. It look me nearly 45 mins to get through the line. I am glad that I had the option to vote early and it that wasn't hampered by GOP like in other areas.
  20. I actually voted today (I am going to be away on business on election day). So I guess I could call it quits now. But what fun would that be?
  21. I love the fact that his big revelation about Obama was nothing more then a bribe for something that does not matter. The Onion is right.
  22. Agreed with you, but the pissing match is pointless and frankly uninteresting (IMHO). I mean who really cares? There are more important and interesting conversations too be had. Both are smart and educated, both have different world views and come to different conclusions on things. That is what matters.
  23. I have never thought GWB was dumb. I thought that was something the media latched on to (especially the left). I also don't think Joe Biden is dumb. They both aren't as media savvy and say things in a more folksy and "straight" way. Whereas both PBO and Romney are more polished in their speaking and come off smart and educated. Now does it really matter who is smarter? You could have a someone who has an IQ over 150 and believe something totally contrary to your beliefs. Would you pick that guy to run the country? Now I am not saying high intelligence is not of value, we don't want a
  24. The smartest guy in the room will never get elected. Otherwise Neil Degrasse Tyson would be president.
  25. Best PBO line from last night You [Romney] want the foreign policy of the 80's, social policies of the 50's, and the economic policies of the 20's. Boom goes the dynamite
