  1. anyone have any inside info? they have an open date and the demand for this show is absurd given the venue size....
  2. do i need to start gettin nasty?? anybody like this sold out guy burwell jacket poster?
  3. Horror story, had four reserved on ticketmaster, decided to go back and only get 3, and after entering the TM code for the 3 tix, it was sold out. I'm sick. I have seen Wilco 4 times (Horde festival at Nissan in 1995, Mary washington college in 95, raleigh in 2004, and meriweather in 2007) and been a huge fan since they first came out. Will pay more than face but would like to keep it reasonable. I'm in the Fan, thanks! dc2richmond@gmail.com
  4. Seriously, hip hop is not even music so I am startled by its inclusion in this list. Very disturbing.
  5. I am loving all this Richmond luv on here! Toads is pretty cool, and while the slate of shows hasn;'t been staggerring I 'd say it is pretty darn good. Hold Steady, moe, the Mule, Avetts, Mofro, I mean it could be worse. I am not a huge fan of the layout of the place, I don't like how the stage is so wide open. I really prefer the proscenium style that the 930 has and the Nat will have. I simply cannot believe that Richmond is going to be home to the one of, if not the, best live music clubs on the East coast. It is just insane, but the Nat is going to be AMAZING.
  6. No. www.thenationalva.com
  7. True....but, but but.....Richmond and the Nat would be even better! Shit, now i'll have to take a recovery day off of work.
  8. Dood you should definitely go! Don't worry about what other people think and/or how old you are. I go to shows all the time and there are always older people there, in their 60s, etc. I am a plain looking 32 yr old and saw Vetiver and Vashti Bunyan by myself in DC and I stood out like a sore thumb amidst the sea of unwashed hair and vintage winter coats from the 80s (yes, with the corduroy highlights on the shoulders!). No one cares, and of they do, that is their problem. Also, as everyone has said the Wilco crowd is very, very diverse, polite, and friendly. You just can't go wrong.
  9. I'm not from ATL but I am familiar with their venues, and I think you'd have to assume the fabulous Fox or the tabernacle
  10. I disagree. Yes, Wilco has grown tremednously ith each aevery album, and certainly the content of Being There was quite a deviation, but I do seea progression there. Meaning, I do see a link to from AM to their later tunes. In fact, while listening to Being There today and AM a few days ago I was startled that some of Being There wasn't ALL that far removed from AM. Not to be rude, but I think it is the "easy choice," if you will, to say that Being There is this sortr of grand step when Wilco suddenly came alive. Dash 7 and I Thougth I Held You.....I see some lyrical beginnigs there f
  11. I believe Chris Robinson produced one or bpth of the solo records, and definitely the new Jayhawks. Their is also quite a bit of collaboration with the Laurel Canyon freaks......Andy Cabic and Jonathan Wilson, etc....
  12. The easiest way to sum them up would be to say they are heavily pyschedlic, with spacy atmospehric guitar combined with heavy droning rythms. Their early stuff had a healthy dose of shoegaze mixed in as well. Also, I think ashcroft has an zmaaazing voice and excellent lyrics. They did not really rip off the stones(to the other post that refand erenced this) they used a sample of a a symphonic version of the last time. and while i like the song a great deal, it does not even begin to hint at the majesty found on the rest of the album. i think velevet morning is the best song on the al
  13. Ahhh....a crowes fan I presume? I first discovered Wilco in 1995 after AM came out, and have followed them ever since. I got to see them perform Little Feat's "willin" with the crowes during the Horde tour in 1995. And I remember Marc Ford hanging out by the side stage when I saw Wilco perform for the first time ealier that same day. I think the Crowes really liked them. I would say welcome, but I just joined this board, too!
