  1. Search is just as good as the others. Fantastic piece of work.
  2. not sure if this violates board protocol, but i'm sure somebody will let me know quickly anyway, i have an extra ticket for buckingham @ the keswick theater saturday night in philadelphia (glenside, actually) dash me a PM if you're interested
  3. speaking of Brinsley Schwarz ... i saw the Motors once when I was a kid phenomenal
  4. i love the british sea power disc they were great live, too top-5 for me this year
  5. 5 best things about shea stadium doc gooden tom seaver mike piazza aaron heilman carlos beltran
  6. and that was current son volt guitarist mark spencer in the band
  7. word for fucking word jesus sometimes i think darkness may be the best record bruce has put out
  8. yeah, i'm a huge bruford guy, but white was fine up through at least the going for the one tour he did really lose it though
  9. Jeff Tweedy in Uncle Tupelo? it's a JOKE
  10. yeah, that's lame analogman? who was the reviewer? where was that taken from?
  11. the main set included just three GBV songs and only recent solo stuff - almost all from boston spaceships, off to business and the recent EPs. nothing even from the earlier post-gbv releases --- coast to coast carpet of love, normal happiness, FaCE, standard gargoyle decisions, keene brothers, psycho and the birds, etc. the only gbv tracks in the main set if i remember were four obscurities - crutch came slinking (from king shit and the golden boys), a full-band version of headache revolution (originally released on the tvt web site as a pollard acoustic track, later appeared on suitcase 2),
  12. yeah, isn't this the same guy who has spent the last 30 years saying that all his old stuff is irrelevant, blasting fans and critics who request it and ask him about it, and saying that he has no interest in performing it or even discussing it? hypocritical bullshit incredible record but van's been telling me for years not to bother with it, so why is he?
  13. yeah, they played four songs from the next boston spaceships record. one of them was one of the best pollard songs i've heard in a long, long time. hopefully tobias doesn't suck all the life out of it by the time it's released. would love to see bob work with a different producer and get back to recording with a real band and pick up the guitar again, but doesn't look like that's gonna happen
  14. yeah, i'm with you ... like i said, i can't stand the last few pollard records, everything since keene brothers really but this was a vintage pollard live show. the band is insanely great -- tommy keene and chris slusarenko on guitar, jason narduccy on bass, john moen on drums. this is pollard's best band since the 2001 gbv lineup -- doug gillard, tim tobias, nate farley and jim mcpherson go see 'em, you'll dig it. you won't even care that the last couple records blow
  15. hmmm ... 10 classic pollard tracks ... Edison's Memos Smothered in Hugs Time Machines Conquerer of the Moon Twilight Campfighter Subspace Biographies Girl named Captain Quality of Armor Storm Vibrations Miles under the Skin
  16. not at all the new records are terrible everything up through From a Compound Eye is incredible the last group of live shows was flat saturday night was tremendous you're basically eliminating todd tobias's claustrophobic production and gaining tommy keene's guitar playing not sure where the "flip flop" is
  17. unbelievably great show last night boston spaceships @ johnny brenda's in philadelphia nearly three hours of pure seismic guitar explosion bob's still got it the band was insane, the set list was tremendous, crowd was frenzied amazing stuff
  18. just me but i'd much rather listen to oasis than all the viachicago favorite artists like she and him, drive by truckers, my morning jacket, bon iver or -- ugghh -- dr dog
  19. agree love the oasis / adams matchup & will be in Camden as well
  20. Mark Spencer? He only plays keys on a few tracks and is a phenomenal guitar player. Or are you thinking of Derry DeBorja from the previous lineup? If so, I agree.
  21. saw this guy in NY tonight didn't know anything about him, but he was really good
