  1. One of the reasons that I love the 70's so much.
  2. Never realized how muddy-sounding this album was. I'd love to hear a remaster sometime. Especially with production as detailed as Brion's
  3. Thanks! I don't play harmonica, and it needed something. Came up with it on the spur of the moment; didn't know that I was gonna record it until it came out of my lips while tape was rolling.
  4. "Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams - they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as all religions contain truths." -Muhammad Ali "A genius is the one most like himself." -Thelonious Monk "The morning is wiser than the night." -Russian proverb And, finally... "It's a fine line between clever and stupid" -David St. Hubbins
  5. Damn. Not too many folks have a whole style of music, or in this case a way of playing their instrument, named after them -- Scruggs-style banjo. Rest in peace Earl.
  6. The whole thing is only guitar and voice. I do have 2 other albums that feature full-band recordings, but this one is just me. And, thanks so much for listening and for commenting. I really do appreciate it.
  7. From beginning to end: the 70's: punk, post-punk, the end of the Motown era, soul and funk, etc. Although, there is no doubt that the peak of the 60's were pretty much the peak of popular music... The Beatles and the English Invasion, Motown, etc.
  8. Yeah, I just found that out. That is HUGE. Good for them!
  9. I am a big fan of Nate Reuss' former band, The Format, but this new album from his new band is getting so big... it's another little indie band hitting it big, like The Arcade Fire. Hell, I just heard "We Are Young" playing over the system at the damn Mazda dealer yesterday! Yeah, I knew that the song was selling, but that still kinda threw me for a loop. What threw me even more was that it didn't sound out of place! If you're wondering who it is I'm talking about, this is the song:
  10. 31 views and no comments. Not sure what to make of that, but whoever did go and listen, thank you.
  11. Live, solo/acoustic warts-and-all one-taker. Although I did overdub a second track of whistling. (I'm not as good a whistler as I thought that I was!) And yeah, pretty much the whole EP is gonna be like this. Pretty much. "The Key" I hope that you like it.
  12. Great book. I am in the middle of it, as well (while reading 2 other books). Glad that it is kinda serialized, so that I can come back to it at will. I love a lot of these bands, already. And I love hearing their stories.
  13. Wife and I are going to see him in Chicago in May. EDIT: Just pre-ordered it for my wife (and me). If the rest of the album is as good as this, it's gonna be pretty damn good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBwspur5yqo
  14. This is the link to the AllMusic.com review for my band's first album: http://allmusic.com/album/as-drawn-by-ethan-age-2-r695053/review They listed, but did not review the second album, but that's okay. As far as I'm concerned, getting anything listed, let alone reviewed at AMG just kinda verifies that I did something worthwhile.
  15. About to play this for the first time: Looking forward to it!
