My friend John covering Madonna:

I only just found out recently that it was a cover. Nonetheless, it's a damn good cover. Detracts not at all from my enjoyment.

Living in a glass house, I suppose that I shouldn't, but... you know that we've done this, like 5 or 6 times already? Nonetheless... it IS a fun thread.

Best Coast - Tour CD-R Collection of home-recorded singles that they sold at shows before they released their debut. A lot fuzzier than the debut and, IMO, it's a little better, too. Better songs. "The Sun Was High (and So Was I)" is something that should have been on the album! Looking forward to the new one, though.

That's the one that they did BEFORE they recorded as a trio with Suzzy, right? How is it?

I really wish that I got from the Whigs what so many others seem to. They make their fans so very ecstatic, I just never was really so moved by them, despite having tried many times. However, it's been about a decade since I've really given them a listen, so I think maybe I'll try again. Gentlemen is the place to start, right?

Tie me kangaroo down in the hedgerows. -
A bunch of Chicago high school kids playing jazz-inflected RnB, with a really good, smooth MC rapping. Great vocals, great playing, great flow. EDIT: Didn't know this piece of info, but think that it would be of interest to this board, in particular: http://www.avclub.com/chicago/articles/jeff-tweedy-producing-chicago-band-kids-these-days,65530/

My 12-year-old son was looking over my shoulder at this thread last night and was completely intrigued. -
Since his big brother has gone to so many cool things recently, I think that I am going to try to take my little one (10 yrs. old) to this. He is already a huge Anime/Manga fan, so I think that he will be super excited. Any other anime/manga fans here? Been to one of these things? What can I expect?

This was freaking great! I will tell you no more because it's one of those movies that best to see when you don't know much about it. Just... if you can handle a bit of blood and gore, you should definitely go. It's a lot of fun.

Holy shit.
