  1. You are free to come and go as you please, at least that's how it was last time around. Also, last time we were given assigned camping spaces. It's my understanding that it's first come first serve this year. I think if you're there by early afternoon on Friday you should be OK.
  2. The walk from Solid Ground campsite to Mass MOCA is about 15 minutes. There's a Goodwill at right about the halfway mark. It's a good place to cool down and bargain hunt. I got a few LO's there last time around. There are also shuttle buses as well buy, if I recall correctly, they didn't run that frequently. **but**
  3. regarding digital delivery tickets: I just spoke with Front Gate. They are scheduled to be sent out the week of the 15th. Cutting it close if you ask me but...
  4. Hmm, if I recall correctly, things were open rather late in North Adams . There's a few dive bars that I guarantee will be open. Try the Key West Lounge. Also, no stands at joe's field. At least I don't remember any.
  5. I believe I had this question last time around but...has anyone out there rec'd your tickets yet? I haven't heard a thing.
  6. I was there that night too! The Orpheum is sort of a dump but the band seemed to play forever (in a good way.)
  7. Bummed about the New HAven show cancellation but, it's hard to get too upset. Family issues are always more important than rock shows. Myabe next time.
  8. Excited to see the Nels Cline/Julian Lage show this Friday in New Haven. http://firehouse12.com/events.asp?id=178940&seriesid=1111
  9. Also, and I have seen very little mention of this, the Solid Ground campground is a nice option. I stayed there with my kids last time around. Once you arrive you can just park the car and not worry about driving until you are ready to leave. We had a really fun time there.
  10. I'm not quite understanding the distress put forth by some regarding this line-up. Look at the other big festivals this year. They are all very similar regarding who's playing. Wilco has given us a very eclectic mix of acts, something other festivals don't. If anyone has been to previous Solid Sounds I think they'll realize that this is all good. Wilco does it right. Open minds, people.
  11. Hey Connecticut folks, Nels Cline/Julian Lage show just announced for Fire house 12 in New Haven, Very nice venue. http://firehouse12.com/events.asp?id=178940&seriesid=1111
  12. Totally agree w/Raspberry Jam about this festival. In the past I have always found it a bit "second rate." I'm scratching my head about this.
  13. Looks like the band is also headlining a festival in Connecticut this summer: http://gatheringofthevibes.com/
  14. I'm not quite sure what the rush is...let them get things sorted out. Many of us have our tickets already and will be going regardless.
  15. Listened to the 2nd Loose Fur record on the way to work today. It sounded really great. Recorded n 2003 and 2006, the same time period as my two fave Wilco records. Just odered both Loose Furs on lp when I got to work today. But seriously, there is so much great music around, both new and old, that no one needs to stick only with Wilco. Besides, I bet the band wouldn't want it any other way.
  16. Tour dates here: http://www.radiolab.org/live/
  17. Man, you must have been near our campsite. Those kids were up super early. Other than that I thoguth Solid Ground was pretty great. THe heat didn't bother me since we got up and hit downtown and the festival pretty early. And, so nice not having to get back in the car every day to drive from a camping spot 20 minutes away. But next time around I am hopping on that Holiday Inn right down the street from Mass Moca as soon as I can.
  18. Well, because it was a festival, which is usually a "festive" occassion, one where folks chat among themselves in a conversational tone. We weren't being boorish. The dude needed to relax. Were you, by chance, sitting in a white folding chair on the hill wearing a fetching "down under" type hat? If you were, mea culpa. I'll try to have less fun next time.
  19. I thoroughly enjoyed the YLT set. Loved that it was in the quiet side. They don't do that enough. Much preferable to the usual Ira wankfest (which we got the last half anyway.) And there seemed to be water everywhere. Free water from a hose and the beer people were selling water too.
  20. I don't know. This was my first solid sound. Took the family and thought things were pretty great. Didn't feel like it was crowded/oversold in the least. Things ran really smoothly and the MassMoca staff was super great. And I didn't see any of the aggressive behavior that has been alluded to here. On the contrary, it seemed like there was a certain swatch of the crowd was a bit too uptight. I actually got shushed by some old guy during Wilco 's (lackluster) Saturday night set. Who does that? My kids, 8 and 11 had am amazing experience due mainly to the good vibes of the fellow festival goers
  21. Sorry if this has been discussed already but just wondering if there are others out there who haven't received their tickets yet. Also haven't heard anything about my camping reservation. Is it just me? Thanks in advance.
