Here's a link to the studio in Auckland where they recorded the new album - it includes a similar gigapan type 'studio tour'. Maybe that's where they got the idea for the Loft Gigapan thing? It looks like a home-from-home for the Loft boys... http://www.roundheadstudios.com/

Article in The Riverfront Times about the leak of the new album... and how Twitter is now at the forefront of the leak phenomena: http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/atoz/2009..._sky_tweedy.php At What Point Did Wilco (The Album) Become Wilco (The Leak)? By Annie Zaleski in WTF Wednesday, May. 13 2009 @ 1:47AM Yes, Wilco's eagerly anticipated new album, Wilco (The Album) leaked on the Internet last night. How do I know this? Why, Twitter, of course. I was first alerted via www.twitter.com/diditleak, which posted the news at around 12:45 a.m. Then I decided to search back to see when #wilco

Who are the 5 best live bands you've ever seen?
Plumplechook replied to hardwood floor's topic in Someone Else's Song
Wilco (well duh!) Queens of the Stoneage (like a force of nature live) The Pixies (saw them on their reunion tour a couple of years back and they were better than when I last saw them 15 years ago) Crowded House (one of the few bands who regularly manage to break down the barriers between the band and audience) Rory Gallagher (one of the first concerts I saw back in 1975 and it's still etched on my brain) Graham Parker and the Rumour (in the late 70s/early 80s these guys were unbeatable) J Geils Band (the tightest, most dynamic live band I ever saw) The Datsuns (old school rock and roll done -
Here's a new clip posted on Youtube of Jeff performing 'Fake Plastic Trees' - taken from the last night (Jan 7). Much better quality than the clip posted a couple of weeks ago from the first show: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=8WBq23wJJXI Also, this new clip shows a few brief highlights from the last night - including Wilco performing At Least That's What You Said - and Jeff and Neil Finn joining forces on 'I Got You' (the Split Enz song) - with Pat Sansone on bass: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=dwOdZX9D-pI

Short clip from one of the shows with Glenn and Pat providing backing for Johnny Marr's performance of his own song 'Down on the Corner'. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yCTRZMAtx5Q

According to the Frenz board the Wilco guys are rumoured to be staying on in NZ for an extra week or so to 'work on their latest album' in Neil Finn's studio. As someone on the board pointed out, this would be possible given that Jeff's solo dates in the US don't kick off until Jan 29 (although the question was asked whether Jeff, Glenn, John and Pat would work on material in the absence of Nels and Jorgensen). Someone on the Frenz board is a neighbour of Pat Sansone's mom and she apparently confirmed the rumour. Interesting!

According to the Frenz board the Wilco contribution on the last night included "At Least That's What You Said", "The Late Greats", "I'm A Wheel", "Reservations", "Jesus, Etc", "What Light", and the newie "You Never Know". Lisa Germano provided violin backing on lots of the Wilco stuff (a la Andrew Bird I guess). Also included Jeff taking lead vocals on the final ensemble number "Something In the Air". KT Tunstall apparently performed a new number called "Hazel Black" co-written with Jeff and Neil Finn. Jeff again took the lead on "Fake Plastic Trees" and also sang with Neil on "Thr

There's a couple of short clips from the studio on the myspace site that's been set up for this project. I spotted Jeff, John and Glenn: http://www.myspace.com/7worldscollide Also, Jeff's 13 year old son Spencer has joined his dad in NZ and is keeping an interesting blog about this and other stuff. Man, this kid is a precociously talented writer! http://spencertweedy.com/

Just read an interesting interview with Ed O'Brien from Radiohead who suggested that he and Phil Selway from Radiohead might be getting together with Neil Finn and some members of Wilco towards the end of the year for some sort of project. Sounds like a sort of reprise of the Seven Worlds Collide project that Neil Finn put together a few years ago with Ed and Phil along with Johnny Marr, Eddie Vedder and a few others. That project resulted in a series of live concerts in Auckland New Zealand and a great live CD/DVD ('Seven Worlds Collide'). Details in the interview are sketchy but this
