Lincecum is a beast, I cant believe he got passed on by as many teams as he did in the 2006 draft, he flat dominated the Pac 10, he had 14.29 K's per 9 innings his last year at the U of Washington, he is small yes but he has an amazing arm, Im sure teams like the Reds, Rockies, Royals, Tigers, and Dodgers sure would love to have him right now, drafting baseball players is not rocket science

something we agree on, Kent is a d bag as is Roidger Clemens As for Ted Williams maybe he calmed down after his playing days, my Dad got the chance to meet him in the 70's at some gun show or something and he was a good guy I guess, I have a signed ball he gave me that story didnt get enough press....how funny
-
those are his career numbers yes but what are they in October and with the Yankees?
-
off the top of my head some of the better players to never win an MVP are....Tony Gwynn, Paul Molitor, Eddie Murray, Wade Boggs, Al Kaline, Richie Ashburn, etc etc
-
you obviously like ARod, which is fine, but obvious nonetheless, to each their own I guess ARod doesnt hit with RISP this isnt criticism its just a fact ok maybe you dont like ARod, I just read your next post, my bad

There is still no proof that all of that book is non fiction....dont get me wrong I think Bonds is as Dirty as a south Detroit McDonalds but there is still a lack of proof
-
Putting aside that ARod opted out his contract a few years ago as the highest paid player to get more money (which is enough to dislike a guy) ARod is a very strange guy, he is very dramaitc when it comes to peoples opinion on him, he thinks everyone is out to get him, sure he is under the microscope a lot but thats life when you play por sports and you make as much money as some small countries, I really dont see the Yankees winning a World Series with ARod there, its not a shock to me at all they havent won one since he has been there, he is a cancer in the clubhouse, ARod cares about ARod f

Bonds will make the HOF, remember these same writers who will be voting for him are the same writers who kept selecting him as MVP year after year after year, you cant deny his greatness, I really dont think he started using until 2000 but again he was a HOF by then, if you look at his stats after 1998 he has 3 MVP's, 8 gold gloves, and made 8 all star games...thats HOF....... he is also a guy who would have been in the HOF without any help from steroids and I think the writers will see that, sure he is a jerk but there are lots of jerks in the HOF, its not the hall of swell cats
-
Another guy playing in this this era hurts is Jeff Bagwell, now I love Bagwell and think he is in but it might not happen right away, he only played in 4 all star games and that will hurt him, I do hope the writers take into account the fact that most of his best years came in the Astrodome which was not a hitter park whatsoever, I would have logved to have seen what kind of year he had in 1994 if it wasnt for the strike, he could have had a 55 homer-170 RBI-.370 type year which is amazing in any era, it also doesnt hurt bagwell that he played his whole career with one team
-
Sheff is another guy that if you put in the HOF then Andre bleeping Dawson needs to be in too maybe its this era but... Bonds = jerk A-Rod = jerk Manny = d bag and jerk Griffey and Thomas- maybe not jerks per se but standoffish with the media all deserve in IMHO, even Bonds, he was a hall of famer a year or two before he hit *73
-
Sheff is one of the best right handed hitters of this generation, I dont think I ever saw better bat speed than GS in his prime, his numbers are there so he probably gets in, he has made 9 all star games, won a batting title, has over 1600 plus RBI, and he is just one homer away from the number the media has a hardon for....500 but he is a d bag and that combined with the mitchell report might make him borderline, Im very 50-50 I guess, he would go in as a Marlin which would be strange cuz they have only been around 15 years
-
pitching was really bad for a few years after expansion in 98 as well which increased the homer, the last three years has been fine IMHO

Question about When the Roses Bloom Again.....
CrushOfVeils80 replied to CrushOfVeils80's topic in Just A Fan
thanks for the good reads -
Thome was a big kid when he came up, I think he is clean, he wasnt built like Sosa or Mac at all, but who knows, those two guys have really ruined it for a lot of players this generation

thank you, I really love the song, much appreciated man -
if true...he is in unanimously
-
It's a good question MattZ....as for Thome I think he was clean, he doesnt really have the body guys like Big Mac, Sosa, and Bonds had....as a huge baseball guy I like to think guys are clean until provne dirty when it comes to steroids, also Im not sure how much it helps you hit a round ball with a round bat but thats a whole other topic, it will totally be an issue when guys are up for the HOF the next few years
-
I love this song and have only heard it live....has it ever been released? Also is it a cover or a Wilco original? Thanks...sorry I suck, I'll go listen to Hinder now
-
agreed....sky is the limit for Milledge but he needs to shorten his swing and will never be that good of a player until he is more discipline
-
oh I agree, I mean I think Thome should be in, but if he gets in Dawson and Rice need to be in as well Raines might be one of the top 3 leadoff hitters of all time, I really hope he gets in, my fav Rock Raines stat is 1330 walks and only 966 K's...thats amazing...also there wasnt a more consistent leadoff hitter in the 80's than Raines funny you mention that Cowherd says that, I have heard Rome say it as well, the first time I actually heard it was a friend of mine, eventhough I think he gets in I have a hard time calling Thome a great player...Dawson won an MVP, finished 2nd in the MVP vo
-
Thome has over 500 homers and the media is in love with that 500 mark so Thome gets in with little doubt in my mind but I'd love to see what guys like Dawson and Rice would have done in a time of baby ballparks and diluted pitching
-
The hall of very good argument does hold water though, I like Thome and I think he gets in but he is better than Dawson and Rice? Cmon now.... I just dont think people realize how the ballparks Thome played in helped his career, would his stats be as good as they are if he played at different parks? Its something the HOF has to start thinking about.....also Im not sure if Thome was a better hitter than Dawson, for power sure but all around I might have to go with the Hawk, Thome was surrounded by gobs of talent in Cleveland where as Dawson played half his career with the Expos, also Dawson ha
-
I just have a hard time saying guys like Thome are "for sure" hall of famers when guys like Andre Dawson, Jim Rice, Bert Blyleven, and Thurman Munson are not in, I'd love to see Dawson's Stats if he played at Jacob's Field for 10 years As for the Nats they need the face of the organization guy and Tex would be a good fit but $20 mill is a lot, I dont see Tex being super productive though in DC until he has some protection and Lastings Milledge and Ryan Zimmerman are good young players but are still learning on the job, they only had 112 RBI between the two of them last year, Tex would get pi

I have a hard time thinking of Thome as a hall of famer, its the hall of fame not the hall of very good, I mean he will get in but playing in Jacobs Field and Citizen's Bank Park really helped his HR stats I agree about McGriff who I really like but he will probably just miss out Tex came up as a 3rd baseman and played some OF too, he is very athletic and will win a few gold gloves I bet, good ball player but Im not sure if he is worth 20 mill per....as much as I like Tex Im glad the Rangers traded him when they did, they got a kings ransom for him
