  1. It really is amazing.  My vocab has already increased so much.  Saw this book described as a story that shattered and he is picking up the pieces and that is kind of what if feels like right now.  But so far I am having no problem keeping track of characters and what is going on.  Pretty amazing he wrote this book pre-internet.  The constant footnote interruptions, the flipping back and forth, the looking up of words, all reflect modern life and how people operate these days with all the distractions.  Liking it more than I ever thought I would.  Each sentence is such a treasure trove of ideas.  And I would not skip the footnotes, adds quite a bit to the book.

  2. He may not want to toot his own horn here, but I will for him.  This shot by Mr. Tinnitus Photography was chosen as the top concert photo of the year in Boston by Bowery Boston Presents.  Actually it was a 3-way tie, but that's still a winner.  Check out Bowery Boston on Facebook.  Congrats to Tim.

    Wow, nice work!

  3. A few that come to mind:

Guided by voices - Universal truths tour - I know many people have experienced this probably but Robert Pollard handed me a budweiser out of the band cooler.

Nash Kato - solo tour-5/17/2000- Troubadour - Sometime mid show he called out "Where's Blackie?  I lived in a van with this guy for 15 years." Then Blackie Onassis comes out of the audience up to the stage to play drums on a few Urge Overkill tunes.  At the same show I helped crowd surf Jason Schwartzman as he sang SONG 2 from Blur.  He was still in headliner Phantom planet at that time.

Pearl Jam - June 24, 1995 - San Fransisco, Eddie comes out and does 3 songs then disappears.  Neil Young then comes out and proceeds to do the rest of the show with Pearl Jam as his backing band since Eddie was backstage with the flu.  Cortez was epic.

  4. only have tickets for one show so far:

    Sleater-Kinney (03/02 Toronto, ON - Sound Academy)

Plan on seeing a bunch more though.

I'm kind of worried.  Bought tickets for Sleater Kinney in February but may be moving to Pennsylvania for a job opportunity and might have to miss it.

  5. My final list.  Just can't get enough of that Real Estate album.  Wore that one out this year:

  6. interesting.  I used Beyonce's clothed behind as my avatar and was told to remove it, but apparently we can post John Lennon's naked ass.  Good to know.

It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
