  1. Red Rocks is a pretty "exclusive" venue. I'm sure just booking that facility alone costs quite a ton.

How much does it cost to rent Red Rocks?

That depends on the type of event and the time of year. Red Rocks booking manager Jeannette Murrietta says a typical concert costs "upwards of $100,000," including fees for equipment, security, vendors and the venue itself. The rental fee alone for concerts and other ticketed events is 11 percent of admission revenue or $7,500, whichever is greater. Nonprofits are charged 8 percent of their admission revenue, with a minimum of $5,000. The fee for a private, non-ticketed event (such as a wedding, bar mitzvah or cult ritual) is $100,000 during concert season -- which runs from May to September -- and that price doesn't include the labor and equipment required to host an event at Red Rocks. Nonprofits are charged $10,000. The off-season rental fee for commercial and private entities is also $10,000.

  2. Started Infinite Jest January 1st.  Finished it yesterday.  Loved every second of it, even the footnotes to the footnotes.  Found it way more accessible than Gravity's rainbow.  Would also have to put it in my top books of all time category.  Even after a solid month and a half of reading it I was in no hurry for it to end.

Now I guess I'll page through this thread and figure out what to read next.

  3. I hate the lyrics from Jack Straw, from the opening line:

We can share the women we can share the wine.

    To

    The eagles filled the skyyyyyyyy...

And, can someone tell me what word Bob is saying several times during the song, sounds like "Shallin"

If only there were some Grateful Dead fans in this place...

  4. OOH!

When did this come out? I love Supergrass.

According to Amazon it came out 2/3/15 as an import.  All the tracks are on youtube.  I recommend "Buffalo" or "Detroit" as a first listen to see if you like it.  It certainly has the classic Supergrass type melodies and vocals but is more electronic and experimental.  Kind of Radiohead in some ways.  I was pleasantly surprised by it.

  5. Depending on where I am dictates how I listen to my music. At home, where there is always an internet connection, its streaming either Pandora or Spotify. At work same deal. In the car, I have my iPod which has all of my cd's on it as is. Airplanes, iPod. just about anywhere else I don't really listen to music.

I also do not really buy new cd's either. In the end, I think I was once like many of you, had to have the cover art, the jewel case etc. Or just didn't trust harddrives or the internet. Now I have fully embraced the wireless world. I think I am going to get rid of them. If any one in Denver wants to come peruse them before I take to the cd store send me a pm.
