This is a classic episode, with Robert Klein and a great performance/interview with George Clinton.
It's funny, you can tell how upset he was about thinking it was George Clinton sitting in with the band. From everything you read, that was the kind of thing that would just wreck his entire week. He seems so much more relaxed these days.

I tend to like the sci fi and horror stuff Simmons does best but went to a book signing and picked this one up. Pretty good so far.

Great Setzer clip. Interesting seeing him without that big Gretsch guitar. Like many people, College was the heyday of my Dave watching. No matter what paper I was writing or what I was studying, the Letterman show was something I would always make sure I took a break and watched. Will be strange living in a post Letterman world. I even remember watching that daytime Dave show in the summer way back when. Seems like he has always been there.

Decemberists, Spoon and Courtney Barnett playing on May 27 at Red Rocks. The way it's been raining out here thought not sure if I should go for it or not.

I shall be released would be a good choice.

Great day yesterday. Volunteered to help can some beer at ODD 13 brewing in Lafayette, CO and now have 2 cases of Papa Silenus Imperial IPA (8.5%) in my fridge. Plus about 14 free pint coupons to use at the tasting room. That should keep me for a little while.

Just finished season one of "Marvel's Daredevil" on Netflix. Solid.
Just finished that last night myself. Really liked what they did, very much like the comic book. They picked a great person to play "Kingpin" also. They should have tried to work the Wilco song in somewhere.

I saw Stevie Ray open for Berlin at Red Rocks. We left very shortly into the Berlin set actually.
-
Got to see him a few times and I was always impressed by his ability to work a crowd. He had Red Rocks hopping by the end of his set. I guess you learn something doing 200+ gigs a year for 60 odd years. What an instantly identifiable sound, both guitar and vocals. Amazing.

Ah damn. Forgot about KISS. Somewhere in the age 8 realm...

Saw Noel Gallagher's band tonight via a free ticket from a friend. Surprisingly fantastic. Such a better singer than his twat brother.
Noel is way more talented than his brother, but I have always liked Liams voice better.

Into the mystic by Van Morrison (although hate is too strong a word).

So has anyone figured out the lettered t-shirts yet? I know there is a Facebook page devoted to it already.

The sound on this is amazing. You can hear every minor breath he takes, every little nuance. Would love to get this on vinyl.

I've got a story about those clowns from my touring days.
Well spill it!

I saw these guys in Denver a week ago. It totally lived up to my hopes and dreams of seeing the Replacements. Not sure about how a new record will go. All the music blogs have been talking about how they debuted a new song, "Whole Foods Blues". Having heard the song, I'm not sure it's the serious "leak" of new material they're hyping it as. More of a comedy blues jam. I imagine they'll have some less tongue-in-cheek rockers to offer though.
Yeah, just kind of a standard 12 bar blues with funny lyrics but nothing special. Great show though.

Can't imagine this will last long but the new album is streaming on Youtube:

that would be incredible. would happily take you up on that!
Well, damn. I checked 3 different record stores and they are all sold out. I must have seen 50 copies of that album on RSD. Sorry!
-
so that means i'll see you at next Monday's Replacements/Dinosaur Jr show?
Damn. Wish Dinosaur had opened in Denver. We had teenage bottlerockets. I was not impressed.

How's the Blitzen Trapper LP? This was the only release I wanted on RSD and I couldn't find a copy... They're on eBay for 4X retail price...
You mean the cover of Harvest? I saw tons of those. Pretty sure I might be able to get one at regular price if you want. I can at least look.

And ... ?
Not used to seeing shows at the Fillmore which is much bigger than the usual theatres. Seemed like a pretty quiet crowd and a fairly tame show. The riot fest show a few years ago was much more of the unpredictable Replacements people generally expect. But having said that, they sounded fantastic. Westerbergs voice was really strong. Did most of the songs I was hoping to hear, some nice solo acoustic songs as well. Don't see a set list anywhere yet. I thought it was a great show overall.

Interesting story behind Dylans first Letterman appearance, with video. Cool version of Jokerman backed by the Plugz. Quite a contrast from last nights performance.
