Non-guilty here too.   Purple is a fantastic album.  Musically they had some complex and unique chords and chord progressions and he had a great voice.  We play Plush once in awhile and the crowd always loves it.  I have to assume drugs were involved, otherwise I have to live with the possibility that someone my age can just die in their sleep.

That documentary is playing next week nearby so I may go see it. Have many fond memories of tower records. Used to attempt the rhino music trivia challenge in the parking lot at tower L.A.

Hunting each other with BB guns. No goggles or pads. I remember getting hit in the side of the head about an inch from my eye and thinking how incredibly stupid it was, and painful. Then right back to the hunt. We actually had a rule of no head shots, then you would just peek over a hill and someone would take a shot.

Those lists are insane. I could never do that. Not even sure I could pull together a top ten.

Maybe I'm a little bitter because I had a boss that would play Use your Illusion(s) over and over when we were manufacturing until I could not bear another listen.  November rain is just laughably bad.  Knockin on heavens door is cringe worthy.  Really it's just Axl's voice that grates on me.  Musically not a bad band.  I realize going into a thread about a band and complaining is pretty lame.  I do like some of the first album. Like Slash as a guitar player ok too.

I can't help but draw a parallel with the new Star Wars movie. Franchise started strong with 2 good movies, then everything after sucked ass. Gn R had one good album, everything else sucked ass. Yet people seem excited. Me? Not so much.

Yeah, the blessed feathers was a pleasant surprise. Didn't care for Four tet so much. Thinking December will be chipmunks on red Vinyl.

Still listening to "From a compound eye" so might be behind. Also spending time on the underrated Bears for lunch GBV.

I was happily surprised but like you said, there is great stuff and there is filler. Amazing how consistently good he is considering the output. Just a little bit of self editing would help but then it wouldn't be Pollard. I have not even touched the Circus devils stuff yet. Cripes.

Screaming for vengeance is an amazing album. I pretty much love everything through that. Then it gets spotty. People keep saying painkiller is really good but I remember not liking it. May have to try again. But yes, priest and Maiden should be in.

Loved the series but the final book is so awful I hesitate recommending it.
