  1. Yeah, and the bummer for locals on this was - usually you get great tickets for the Ryman if you physically go to the box office. They usually have a lottery, but it's fair - you get a ticket, they pull out of a hat, etc. This sale was online only which gives the scalpers a huge advantage. Sucks.
  2. *guilty* Sorry folks, I didn't see this thread till just now... Mr. Dive + a friend put in Late Greats for night 2 in Nashville (I went for 32" High with Nick Lowe) and they did play it, on top of Box Full of Letters, my request from Night 1. I gotta think it's just the mood they're in, because I know I can't request something like Airline to Heaven or My Flying Saucer and expect to hear it...(MA 1 & 2 are among my favorite albums of all time ever and the only song they ever play is California Stars since Hoodoo Voodoo got rotated out. Not awful, but IMO not the best from those discs...
  3. Dying of envy but can't wait to hear all about these shows!!
  4. Some jerks stole ours from night 1 (long story short, very un-Wilco like fans directly behind us, skunk drunk, screaming, talking through Nick Lowe etc.) They gave us a hard time through the whole show (especially after we asked them not to talk through Nick Lowe - I am a HUGE fan and have been waiting literally years to see him at the Ryman. It was just bad luck - we all know jerks exist in the world but it sucks when they're fans of good music and should know better.) We're pretty sure they took it out of our bag, just hoping they weren't the ones making $400 off it. At least we also ha
  5. Come on, y'all. I can't be the only one here who's seen both Nick Lowe AND Wilco upwards of ten times. Love 'em both - if anyone hears of any incident where Nick Lowe plans to appear onstage with Paul Kelly (the only other artist save Elvis Costello I've also seen more than 10), let me know, as I'll have to hock a body part getting to Oz ; (just flew to Vancouver to see Paul Kelly, matter of fact...unlike Nick Lowe he never plays in Nashville, where I live.)
  6. So, the local Nashville "alt" station (Lightning100.com) just gave away tickets via Twitter for a "Wilco soundcheck party" happening this weekend at the Ryman. Anybody know anything about this? "Party" seems to imply more than just a couple of people... Edit: Update: Looks like it's just a Lightning100 thing. Which frankly I really resent, since they almost never play Wilco's music and yet always have some mysterious hookup when it comes to them playing the Ryman.
  7. Just got a reply to a similar post on FB remarking the band will go over the purchase rules (non-transferable tix, 4 ticket limit, etc) with the venue. Agree with the above: I don't buy from scalpers, personally, esp. since a lot of times TM releases more tickets a few days before the show....and there's usually some other fan who's got an extra....
  8. From the Wilco FB page: http://stlouis.craigslist.org/search/?areaID=29&subAreaID&query=Wilco&catAbb=sss I've spoken with lots of people who say they got nothing in the presales yesterday and I can tell you nothing was available 3 min. after the general onsale today. The sheer amount of tickets on this scalper page is shocking. I'd LOVE to see Wilco void this date and re-sell this venue, using Frontgate if necessary.
  9. From the Wilco FB page... Pages and pages of scalpers selling tickets for St Louis. Wow. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/search/?areaID=29&subAreaID&query=Wilco&catAbb=sss Would love to see the band cancel all these and re-sell this venue.
  10. Yeah, it's weird. I well remember seeing Wilco at the Ryman back in 2002 and the place was half empty. It started getting nuts around the time of YHF, and now - look out.
  11. Wow. St Louis sucked - was online for the general sale right at 11 and ALL that came up - even for a single - was back of the balcony. At 11:03 everything was gone. Didn't realize they'd sell *every ticket*, just about, in the presale yesterday. Which I would have remembered earlier, but I also had to buy tickets for Indy. (remembered at like 4 CST, got online and all there was, was back of the balcony...so figured I'd just try in the gen'l sale...sigh...) Stinks that they have all these right at the same time. Would it kill them to spread 'em out, so those of us who live close to oth
  12. They won't be great, I hate to tell you - there'll be amps & crap in your way. But at least you're over a little on that row thanks to the handicapped area. Don't get me wrong - it's not worst case scenario by any means. You'll get a great view of Pat & likely Jeff. Confirmed: Lightning 100 is giving away tickets. Their phone number is (615) 777-5100 if you wanna call up and ask stuff. Listen online at lightning100.com right now-ish for the show that usually does giveaways. Also, for the locals, just now on the Grimeys Records FB page:
  13. Just a note on the Ryman - there really are no bad seats in the place with one exception - the sections right up against the walls (1 & 8 on the floor and 9 & 16 in the balcony). It's an extreme angle and you won't be able to see Glenn, which is just wrong. You're fine in you're in those sections and are in the seats nearest the aisles - higher seat numbers for sections 1 & 9 and lower ones for 9 & 16. Here's the seating chart: http://ryman.com/event/Ryman_SeatingChart.pdf I don't think the general onsale tomorrow will be too bad b/c they're playing two shows. Good luc
  14. (did pretty well in the presales yesterday - 3rd row for the 10/1 show and sixth or so row for the 10/2. I'm also going to Indy for the Sept. 13 tour opener and just got front row in the LiveNation sale. See y'all there!)
  15. Folks - I live in Nashville and have been keeping eyes peeled for presales since there's a lot of interest. Ordinarily I'd say to go down to the box office, but since this is all online...no dice. If there's a local presale it'll be at lightning100.com. I haven't seen anything tho. Might not be bad to listen at noon today when they do a lot of ticket giveaways (the Lt. Dan show) - there's a live stream at the link I just posted and I don't think the giveaways are limited to this local area.
  16. I'm completely geeked out about the two Nashville dates and completely out of my mind that Nick Lowe (one of my all time favorites) is opening. One tiny complaint: I'm going to shows in four cities and it's kind of a bummer the onsales are all at the same time. Anybody got tips?? I guess I'll be OK for the Atlanta date (different time zone) but Indy and St Louis are both in CST. Guess I'll just pick one for the presale and go for the general sale for the others. Oh, and - for those thinking about the Ryman: You can find the seating chart on this page. (Do a Ctrl+F for "seating". It'
  17. No email from Wilcoweb re: the Atlanta show, so I get on the website for the presale - something's wrong with my login and I have to resubscribe. I'm to receive an email featuring my new password - which takes over an hour to arrive. I go back to login, presale sold out. This morning there's another one from Dave FM in Atlanta - I log in within an hour after it goes live and - nothing. What a bummer. Am planning to drive down from Nashville for the show - who'd have thought getting tickets would be a bit of a hassle for a person with a 10-year sub to Wilcoweb? I know, it's my own faul
  18. Aw man! Now I'm *really* depressed...I'm a huge, big, giant Nick Lowe fan and I didn't know Jay was too. Could have mentioned it when I was lucky enough to have met him after a show in Nashville in 2002. plus, is there anybody living who doesn't love Mythbusters? Just askn'....
  19. Just...awfulness. We'll probably fire up the Austin City Limits Wilco show from '01 here shortly. My Jay story: He played the Slow Bar in Nashville w/Burch on May 2, 2002. We had to miss the gig due to a conflict that night with a show by bass god Mike Watt, late of Minutemen and Iggy & Stooges...anyway, we stopped by Slow Bar after to see if we could catch the last few songs of JB's set. Well, he was still there, hanging out at the bar, and when we told him we'd had to miss his show due to having gone to Mike Watt - whose music he told us he respected greatly - he took us backstage
  20. CRAP. I just thought of something. (Hi folks...I'm newish around here but have been listening to the band for years, yadda yadda). Anyway, I'm a holdout (although I did listen to WTS from the stream earlier, paradoxically to cement my resolve...it was so good I decided I had to delay the full experience till I have both the CD and vinyl in hand.) BUT I have tix for Bonnaroo, so I'm gonna hear the whole thing before it hits the street anyway!! Should I cave? Can't quite decide.
  21. The one good thing about losing all your stuff = it makes you REALLY SERIOUS about running backups, like, forever. Just a shoutout to Other World Computing (OWC.com, I think)...anyway, they make an external drive that you can get w/Firewire 400 - or even 800 if you have a MacBookPro like mine that's got a port for it. They're pretty reasonably priced AND - the best part - you don't need an external power supply. Just port it into your USB/Firewire and you're good to go. I have a 160gb I use for all my live-show boots & stuff....works great. Also an 80gb I got a few years ago that's
  22. MAAAAAN can I not wait to see photos from this. Have a great time all. I'm a painter myself, but with an appreciation for the audio arts.....just wish my hands were large enough to hold down frets...
  23. Hey folks! This here's my first post...I've seen Wilco ten or so times and Tweedy twice solo, but for whatever reason I haven't gotten around to digging up the message board. All I have to say is...sometime near the beginning of 2008, they went, IMO, from merely a really good band to frigging transcendent. Missed the Knoxville show since the Flaming Lips were in Nashville Saturday night and had tickets to that, but made it out to Asheville - just in time to see Wilco play "Box Full of Letters" for the first time. Well, not *their* first time, clearly, but mine...a friend of mine request
