  1. Are people still able park there all day (just without stuff to trip over) or is it roped off?
  2. Brilliant! But I think what he once was is what he still wants to be. It just won't get him re-elected. So maybe what Pence once was is what he wants to be. Evermore.
  3. I hope Jeff has a little something to say to those "fans" at the show. That said, Wilco said they'd return once the law was repealed. It was changed enough for them to play the show and, once again, they're doing the right thing. The boycott by the numerous organizations worked to make that change. So proud of them all!
  4. If you're referring to my post, once we park, we stay put. My husband and I threw our blanket down and had been sitting there for well over an hour when it was taken over. We were about 10 deep lined up with the speakers. There was still space just behind us. The folks against the rail had been sitting there all day. It's a festival, people are going to put down blankets because that's what people do at festivals. There's a point where it's time to pack stuff up and fill in. But until then, if I've been willing to sit in the sun or rain longer than you, you don't need to kick my stuff out of t
  5. It's over. They made their decision based on what they felt would have the most impact. You may not agree with it, but those businesses, organizations and events that pulled out of Indiana to send a statement have had gotten much faster results than donating money to LGBT organizations or encouraging fans to donate money at the show. LGBT organizations have been working against this law since it was first introduced and they've been working for equal rights in IN and across the U.S for years. YEARS. They finally get a court to decide an SSM ban is unconstitutional and we're all on the cusp of
  6. In the Hunter Center (indoor theater). Seating is pretty limited and you usually have to wait in line to get in. I think the sets are about an hour - someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  7. That's not honestly from that "Christian" pizza place is it?!
  8. The ones that get me are those that call it a PR stunt. They've made it 20 freaking years, sell out most of their shows and even have their own festival - all without the support of commercial radio and with most of the world saying "Wilco who?". PR stunt, my butt.
  9. I'm pretty sure no one on this board suggested that Wilco's boycott was the straw that broke the camel's back but they were a small part of a larger movement. The Indy mayor and Chamber of Commerce were against this from the start and if you think they aren't totalling up every penny of lost business revenue that can be directly contributed to the law, you're mistaken. I'm sorry you feel you can no longer be a fan of Wilco because they made a tough decision to stand up for what is right and against a regressive law that allows discrimination. There will be other shows - it's Wilco for crying
  10. The noise on the recording just enhances the memories! We pretty much rocked that accidental audience chorus of "Radio Cure"!
  11. Well said, Kidsmoke! I wish there was a "like" button here too! I said it before and I'll say it again - Wilco cancelling the show because of this law should not come as a surprise to their fans if they've paid any attention at all to what the band does off the stage. They have a long history of supporting social causes and even lay them all out on their website. I'd be bummed if I had tickets, but I fully support and understand their decision - I'm sure it was a really tough one for them to make. Based on the rhetoric from IN lawmakers and supporters of the bill, their intent is pretty c
  12. Those local businesses will bring their lost revenue to the attention of their lawmakers. Again, blame those who enacted the law, not the businesses, bands, etc. who are exercising their rights by refusing to do business in the state until the law is changed. You should also notice that those groups who have pulled business from the state ARE having an impact, at least it appears that way based on the latest words out of Pence's mouth. He's still refusing to acknowledge that the law legalized discrimination, but the wheels are in motion. Protesting or donating ticket proceeds to HRC or other
  13. And if Samosaman is there, get outta my way when the apple ones come out of the fryer!! OMG they are soooooo delicious!
  14. You're first Solid Sound? You are in for a treat! If you get to Joe's Field late, there's a slight rise in front of and to the right of the soundboard (if you're facing the stage). I'm 5'4" and have found that, if I can't get up front, that's not a bad spot for a short girl. I did notice that, with the increased number of attendees at the last SSF, there were a lot more late arrivals who didn't respect the "camps" bbop referred to. We were sitting on our blankets when a family with a very tall dad cruised in front of us and actually kicked our stuff out of their way. A coworker of mine who
  15. Based on the number of IN fans who have come out criticizing them for their decision (which I'm sure was not taken lightly), I'd be surprised if it did. Personally, I'm not sure I'd want to be in that audience. It's one thing to be disappointed but understanding because this was Tweedy & Co standing up for something in which they strongly believe and doing it in a way they felt would have the most impact (Indiana's wallet). Quite another to be disappointed and telling them they made a mistake or suggesting it was a PR stunt. Wilco is pretty good to their fans (they love us, baby!) and, as
  16. I saw that one too! Politics and ideology have been an integral part of music and all forms of art since, well, forever. The part of that statement that really got me was the arrogance of someone trying to tell someone else what they should or should not be writing about.
  17. The lawmakers who created the law are to blame, not the band. If you "were" as big a fan as you claim, you wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised by their decision to cancel nor would you hold it against them for taking a stand on the causes they believe in because they've been actively committed to social causes like this for years and years. The guys are savvy businessmen and they understand, as most of us do, that protesting doesn't bring change like it used to - withholding the almighty dollar is, unfortunately, the fastest way to change. And enough with the "they better cancel shows in
  18. LOL! I knew the trolls would infiltrate VC after this but you're right about the Tweedy comment fodder!
  19. The joke with my Wilco fan friends is that Susan requires he plays it every night
  20. The last time I saw Dylan was, holy crap, over 10 years ago at the same ballpark they're playing in Minnesota this time around. If it was anyone besides Bob, I'd have left early because it really just wasn't very good and the big draw for me was Ani DiFranco opening up for him. But it was Dylan and, well, I was still mesmerized even though I couldn't understand a word he sang. VERY excited to see Richard Thompson! For those of you hitting a date with Ryan Bingham, if you haven't checked him out, he's pretty damn good for a former bull rider
  21. There was a time not all that long ago when he wouldn't have been so nice about the pictures/videos - there would have been no question about whether or not he was being sarcastic. It's not so much about not wanting unauthorized media out there (which, since this is their livelihood, wouldn't be unwarranted) but I think it's more about Tweedy's personal feelings about what a live concert represents. His ideal is a room full of people all on the same wavelength, being moved by the music that is being made in front of their eyes, singing and/or dancing and sharing the experience in the here an
