  1. It's mostly all film noir. He's the guy who gave me the Charles Bukowski Christmas card, come to think of it.
  2. Exactly. I still have a movie list he gave me.
  3. The dude got a book deal. One time when I was in college, I had a professor who while lecturing about Slaughterhouse 5, went on a tangent about the following: how bumper stickers are only something that lower class people put on their cars, which led to how Elvis ruined the young people of America, and music in general, followed by the downfall of society brought on by the California lifestyle.
  4. As long as the person does not stick their fingers in the glass as they carry the glass to the table, or tell me their whole life story, I will give them some money.
  5. One of them, (I forget who) had their whole tour cancelled, due to low ticket sales - last year, I think it was.
  6. Yes, sorry. I think I have been there. I hope to make out there again someday.
  7. These days, yes. And sure - they will have more bread than I will ever have.
  8. I'll admit I have probably never watched more than a few minutes of this show - but as I have a habit of reading Billboard.com every morning, I often read about these people after the show is over. It seems like they have success, but it appears to be fleeting. I suppose that is how it is for a lot of bands though - nothing new really. As I said once, when I was younger, Britney Spears was named Tiffany.
  9. Or is it just about some people who can maybe sing - and if so, sing other people's songs, and still yet - may go on to make an album where all they do is sing songs written for them while using tools such as Auto-Tune and the like. Interesting - we have had this debate before, I think.
  10. There are also some toxic waste sites around there - I think I read that somewhere. There is a photo on Flickr (that I could not find yesterday) of the building I stayed in. Sometimes, I get that place confused with Mare Island - which I also spent time on.
  11. That's one of the reasons I posted this - I mean, I don't listen to any of those bands. I saw some photos on Flickr a while back of some of the buildings - are they all gone now? A set here. The bowling alley.
  12. As you may recall, I spent some time there in 1985-86.
  13. Enough of your magical riddles!
  14. That show is up at The Internet Archive also.
  15. Is that an episode of Quantum Leap? I should have added that Mr. Dylan took the blues/country/rockabilly/Allen Ginsberg's poetry/French poetry/On The Road/Guthrie/etc. and created something new by combining those elements, along with his natural born talent.
  16. Well, I think it was due to the fact that we would not handle any snakes or drink turpentine when he visited some of the churches in the region. This means his faith is lacking - so that is why we did not vote for him.
  17. I think Dylan started modern lyric writing as we know it today. Mick Jagger has a good line about this in a Rolling Stones documentary that I have - I can't recall the quote exactly - so I am not going to try and post it. I don't think we would have what we have today without him. Plus, he fueled people who were trying to change the world - so there's that as well. I am not dissing Jeff in any way - I mean, that is why I was drawn to alt country and Wilco in the first place -the words. For me, it usually about the lyrics, and then the music next.
  18. The Long Tomorrow by Leigh Bracket The Amish In Their Own Words By Brad Igou Iron Maiden Tribute Issue Guitar Legends Magazine
  19. I think his blog has been talked about on here before - or at least, I recall knowing about it somehow or another.
  20. I bumped this thread to post the news about the DVD - I would like to see it. I think Forever Changes is a great album.
