^^^ I listened to Fables this morning on my run. Love that album.
It's probably the REM album I listen to most regularly at this point.

I approve.
For me:
-
New Magnetic Fields - Quickies
-
btw These Days is a Jackson Browne song. great versions also exist from Barbara Manning (where I first heard the song) and St Vincent.
Westerberg does a nice version on Come Feel Me Tremble.

50th anniversary re-issue of Workingman's Dead (with Port Chester, NY 2/21/71 as bonus material) coming in July:

Well worth the time if you are a fan:

Don't know why it took me all of these years to listen to this podcast but it's great. Wasn't expecting to have all three members participate.
And I knew this but I had forgotten how prolific they were. In 2 1/2 years (July 84 through January 87) they put out five albums including two double albums.

If Chloroquine doesn't work, maybe some Robert Quine will. (Thanks, I'll be here all week ...)
-
I have had one show rescheduled from May to August, one in June cancelled, and two in June rescheduled to January 2021.

Those are great albums to calm the mind during a time like this.
Me? Prince. All day.
Ha! Eno/Jarrett all day and Prince all night!

i still really can't listen to that PM record much...
Yeah, it's tough. It's so good but so sad.
Put this on for the first time in a while. When I need an early REM fix I tend to go for any of the three before this.

Nice tribute on SNL last night.

The Tweedy Show Friday April 10 Episode 21
— “everyone in the Wilco camp is doing ok, but there is some sad news.” Jeff is hesitant to mention details, but he does mention it in the episode.
I don't think this is speaking out of turn but John posted on Instagram that his father passed away. He wrote:
"Thoughts about our Dad, Avery Stirratt III, who passed peacefully Friday the 10th from cancer. A dedicated family man, and source of stability and unwavering optimism for his family and friends. Lifelong New Orleanian, he and my mother busting their humps with 5 kids, and after losing her in 92, jumping back into music and the instrument, and for the next 29 years playing weekly with his NO banjos +2, up until his last show March 8th. Their weekly shows at usually restaurant venues, were a colorful mix of friends and NO cutups vying for the coveted vocal spot, a kind of Dixieland Karaoke. My sister Laurie and I could never ask for a bigger supporter for our musical careers, never heavy on advice, just providing that quiet affirmation of presence and enjoyment. Solid Sound(s), Hollywood Bowl, of course New Orleans and Chicago gigs over the years, and just last fall, pulling an 8 hour NO-Nashville drive the evening before our Opryland gig only to check in to the hotel, and walk straight to the venue to check out the Opry review, all at 88. Could not ask for a better supporter, father and confidante. Rest easy."

Two of my faves.

Hardly Getting Over It sounds pretty good these days ...

I was upset that my mother wanted nothing to do with Great Woods when they played there 3 nights that summer of ‘95.
Can't say that I blame your mother. I saw some good shows there (REM in '90, Dylan/Petty, Lou Reed, Radiohead) but getting in and out of there was a pain.

Mine was a few months after that one. Boston University in August of '85.

Next time was November of '86. The Feelies opened and it was my first time seeing them.
