Linking threads, wasn't that the top selling album of all time at Other Music?

I was a regular customer there for many years and contributed a small amount to the Kickstarter campaign to get the film made. I am truly not am obscure music snob, and I never felt intimidated there. I saw a great live set by Calexico there years ago. I miss that place a lot.
Oh I am sure the intimidation was as much about me as it was them. The time I went in I was rushed and I couldn't quite figure out how things were sorted and wasn't sure what I was looking for. I spent a lot of time in that neighborhood from '86 to '88 and had it been around then I am sure I would have been a regular.

I watched a great documentary last night on the NYC record store, Other Music. It's on Amazon Prime (called "Other Music"). I think everyone who posts on this board would enjoy it.
Ha! I watched it last night and really liked it. I only went in there once and found it somewhat intimidating. Oddly, the documentary doesn't mention (unless I missed it) that Josh Madell, one of the owners, was the drummer for Antietam for many years.

Taking a break from Talking Heads to listen to this.

I'm sure it's a labor of love. Those first four Talking Heads albums are incredible.
They really are. And so different from each other.
I'm enjoying the book - but it definitely seems like Frantz needed an outlet to publicly vent about Byrne.
-
Reading Chris Frantz's autobiography so I'm revisiting the early albums.

That looks like a good first show to me.What do you remember most from the night?
Random thoughts/memories:
- There were not many people on my high school into the Dead so it was fun to see this scene
- People cheered loudly at the "I wish I was a headlight" line in I Know You Rider
- I knew drums/space was a thing but didn't quite get it
- I was surprised at how quiet it was during parts of Wharf Rat
- And I really remember leaving and wanting to see them again

I'm really enjoying that one. The Queen Jane Approximately is fantastic.

I've lost interest in Kozelek's music a while ago - and he seemed pretty unpleasant - but he's a fucking creep.

That's a great first show.
And I forgot to mention that Dr. John was the opener.

And now I'm on to this. Mainly about two guys in their 60s talking and drinking and talking and drinking.
