(You probably know this - but Oasis and The Black Crowes actually did a tour a together in 2001.)
Oh yes, the Brotherly Love Tour. Don't forget opener Spacehog (also with brothers). This should have been a great bill, but it was a lackluster evening in Chicagoland anyway.

He also had that As The Crowe Flies thing going on. Apparently - he left his 3rd wife and took up with the girlfriend of the guy who did all the artwork for that band. She is in that Chauffeur's Daughter video.
Wasn't it odd that it was/is actually called 'As the Crow Flies' - without the e on the end of crow?? I sort of wondered if somebody made a mistake.
And Marcus King - who I respect - but don't really care for all that much.
Marcus didn't play the last couple gigs though. The band with him had a lot of potential but was not gelling when I saw them...

Still completely bummed about how CRB imploded at the end and then with Casal's death makes it even more so...
I haven't seen the story on this other than it happened. Are there details somewhere?
-
Darin doesn't mention playing in Tweedy or with Jeff in the bio used for last night's gig.
-
Damn. I really enjoyed what he brought to Chris and Ryan's music.
-
We're in new territory setlist-wise for a show billed as 'Jeff Tweedy' - one Wilco song played at the end. Pretty interesting. I wonder if most concert goers were expecting the Wilco catalog to be ignored.
-
He also did the talk with Pitchfork pre-festival in 2015 when he announced Star Wars (and then debuted the entire album at the festival the next night), so i'm not sure that holds too much water.
I think it got cancelled because of the weather evacuation, but Jeff was to record an episode of the Talkhouse podcast with Cate Le Bon in the middle of Saturday's festival this year. Hopefully they ended up recording it anyway somewhere...
-
Ode to Joy is the first Wilco record since The Whole Love that Pitchfork decided to review a track for which implies that they believe the song and/or the album to have enough cultural cache to warrant such a review. They didn't even grant Warm a track review even when they gave it a "Best New Music". To me, this is a flag of expectation from them.
Cynical take on this is that Jeff agreed to appear at their festival so they featured his song.
-
Jeff Tweedy could not be more comfortable. How dare Wilco fans want the band to challenge themselves by changing up the setlist.
-
I dunno either but this feels like a great opportunity for Lotti to make some recommendations.
-
Cate Le Bon! Lots of great Pitchfork aftershows tonight. Wish there were good ones tomorrow too.

I think that's totally fair and probably desired by most, including myself. My other post a couple of pages back was trying to suggest that the well my not be that deep and is instead breezy 70s rock (The Autumn Defense) and sometimes noise for noise's sake (Nels Cline). In my heart, I want a Mikael Jorgensen led production because that could be off the wall.
I hope that clears it up?
Clear!
A Ghost is Born is kinda a Jorgensen record, right? I guess O'Rourke too/mostly though. 'Unlikely Japan' is a great track that gives me an idea what you are looking for. Would be awesome. WilcoBook has more MJ stuff too?

I was going by Chez's use of the word recently, meaning the last few albums. By the standards of this lineup to mean "recently", Wilco hasn't made anything consistently Autobahn besides Star Wars. All I am saying is that Wilco has been pretty heavy on the quiet songs with noise sections, with a couple of experimental tracks, and almost no barn-burners since AM or Being There. Summerteeth was the last record to have about half fast songs and even then it's like 6/15. 7 if you count "Summer Teeth". I want to push back against this notion that Wilco, not including Jeff Tweedy solo, has been dry with rockers since AGIB. AGIB has 3 Autobahn songs on it tops.
This is so confusing. You are pushing back on the notion that Wilco has been dry with rockers since AGIB by saying that 1 of their 2 most recent album was consistently a rocker? Besides Schmilco each album has at least a few.

Of whom?
Ha. You got me there. Autobiography. I stand corrected.
Now for a new thread: "Whose biography would you like to see Jeff Tweedy write"
I'll go with Jim O'Rourke
-
Plus he wrote and produced a whole Mavis Staples album in 2017. Darn impressive.
Plus he wrote a biography

I really liked that 1st night poster. Didn't buy one, though. Chicago Theater light bulbs motif. The one for the 2nd night was very generic.
that's the one! I'm a sucker for event specific posters.
-
I managed to sneak out of night one without any merchandise. I was proud of myself. Then, I get an email from the Stones and all the sudden I've dropped $50 on a gig poster. That price is pretty impressive especially compared to the signed Minus 5 poster I picked up at their show for $15 two days later.
-
Thanks bbop! That is such an odd lineup, but oddly, I would have loved all three I'm sure. Guilty pleasures (all or just the bread in this odd wilco sandwich?).
-
No Kansas !? They've haven't played the ruby slipper state in 11 years!!!!
-
You are openly hoping people will embarrass themselves.
I thought the poster was referencing the band and their management fwiw

More pressure for the karaoke folks!

is this the first year they are using dorms for rental rooms? or did they do that last year as well? makes a lot of sense tbh.
At least the 2nd year

Yeah, the whole Lightfoot and Burke moment was pretty cool....
yes and strange that those names came up but not Buddy Guy, Chess Records, Howlin' Wolf, the Double Door, the Aragon etc.
