I've decided to go for one last show...I just need one ticket...pretty sure it won't sell out & I can get more than one at a $40 price right now...I thought I'd check here, as whatever amount I'm going to pay, I'd rather pay it here & help someone with potential extras (or friends of theirs with extras)...
If you're interested PM me, or email me at "HareDurga@yahoo.com", or heck feel free to call me at home (585) 582-6331, acupuncture office (585) 346-4510, or my cell (585) 813-3561.

You hit the nail on the head djp0910 (I feel so futuristic calling you that). This was my 14th show over 9yrs and I can say that this was the most "rock concert" I've ever seen them. The show was beautiful, the audience/venue were into it and a complete pleasure and the setlist was a perfect outdoor, Summer show bunch of songs. In fact, I'd say the band was pitching a perfect game, until a slight Airline to Heaven vocal flub, but that was due to fan interference. Watch the replay, the fans up front are clapping out of time and it blew Tweedy's concentration. Actually, the fans in back were out of time too, but I don't think he can hear them.
Great show in Cooperstown. They hit hometown Rochester, NY this Friday at another gorgeous venue, the Highland Bowl in Highland Park, a Fredrick Law Olmstead park, for all you park design fans out there. Across the street is the sight of a former home of Fredrick Douglass, for all you history buffs out there, who happens to be buried down the street in Mt. Hope Cemetary. He used to hang with Susan B. Anthony downtown, btw.
Hey D.B. great to see you & your sweetheart in Cooperstown...looking VERY forward to seeing you guys in Rochester & will keep "The WILCO Report" going as best I can from the stops in between on the road to Mass-MoCA & Hartford (ironing out Columbus details too...)...here's some Wilco fun for you & L.L.-B.
@Lukestar:
And apparently it's a trend among this age group...who knew?
I can't hear the sound with this one...but hopefully it'll get fixed...is there anyway to get these two kids to meet up for a duet?!!?
-
I gotta meet you one of these days. You're one of the few people who seems to celebrate this craziness.
By the way--and this is embarrassing to admit--but it's really 13 if you count the 2 Tweedy solo shows in Chicago back at the end of March. Ye gods.
Check you're messages here...and you know 13 is very auspicious number in the Cosmology of the Mayans...embrace the 13th Floor Elevatorage of the continuing unfurling of the ever expanding horizons of your Wilco wonderment...Celebrate! those things that make you levitate! Flying!! & flying the freak flag of full fledged Wilco craziness, & proud of it!!

My audio and video were both very hiccup-y, but did he say that when he and his teenage friends were trying to look punk rock, they tied two bandanas together and used them for belts? That's just precious. More John Cougar Mellancamp than Johnny Rotten!
That was it exactly...hilarious, but cool in a goofy DIY kinda way too (though not exactly what I'd call punk aesthecially- but operationally, from the effort & intention- totally punk)...on the same landing that he sings about in "Heavy Metal Drummer"- he mentioned that part later...
-
Lots of people complaining about the poor video stream in the chat feature. Audio stream is excellent though.
It's gotten a bit better...but...I was thinking about opening a page & putting on the audio stream & just leaving the sound off on the video page...but, sadly, they aren't in synch...

I was starting to get the pre-post-concert blues, thinking that my incredible run of shows is coming to an end after Mass MoCA and Hartford next week. Then my darling niece, who lives in San Francisco, came home for a visit this weekend, and we searched for airfares from Norfolk, VA to SF and came up with $251 roundtrip on Delta! WTF? And she'll come with me for her first ever Wilco show? And it's all GA, so we have as good a chance as anyone of getting up front. How could I not do that??
So, against all logic and sanity, I'm in for 2 more shows at the Greek in Berkeley Sept. 21 and 22. Goodbye, anticipatory post-concert blues!
11!!! You are my new hero!!!!!!! Congratulations!

Wow--bold choices!
Bold choices indeed...and great performances to match!!

I couldn't be more blown away! That trio of NYC shows is something that I hope will be a precedent. Like the five they did last December in Chicago. I hope these are half as much fun for them as they are for the die-hard faithful, & I hope it continues...words fail, so I'll let the list of songs they performed do the talking...I count 63 different songs (with some performed more than once, but not that many)...let me know if I missed any, miscounted or otherwise messed up & I'll jump in & edit & correct it... but otherwise, here, appears to be that list...

Last night left me feeling like I had been at a mini NYC residency. Not since the Chicago residency have I experienced, IMHO, such an outstanding series of shows culminating with that gift for us die-hards @ T5! Every-other song elicited an audible "OMG" from my lips!! THANK YOU WILCO - you never let me down )))
That sums it up pretty well! I couldn't be more blown away! That trio of NYC shows is something that I hope will be a precedent. Like the five they did last December in Chicago. Camden was great, but almost as short as it was sweet- due to it being a festival, with 17 songs & around 90 min., if that...
The trio of New York City shows were just mind blowing!!!!!!!!!! I count 63 different songs over the course of three nights. Which is astounding. It was like Wilco heaven. I hope they continue to do these longer residences in NYC, as I'll be there everytime, I can tell you that.
I looking so forward to the rest of the gigs & can now say that that'll be Cooperstown, Mass-MoCA, Hartford, Rochester & Columbus. The last one is a definite after what I just saw. That'll be 9 shows in 2012 & counting the Detroit show from December, 10 in a 12 month/1 year period on The Whole Love Tour of 11-12...wish I could have caught last years 2 night stands in Toronto, & Central Park NYC...how did I miss those...well I know how, & it was for good reason, but barring great future reasons, you can pretty much count me in for most things within 6 hours or so!!!
-
I really love Wilco, really do but I think they need to cut back on the Yankee songs..Every show since 2001 has at least what 4-6 Yankee songs every night? Hope I am not alone out there?
I think in a few Yankees songs place play some more off Whole Love...
Sunloathe, Open Mind, Capital City!
I love all their albums & don't have much of a dog in this fight...'cept to say that I wish they'd play more, of late, off of my second fave "Wilco (The Album)". Being that "The Whole Love" is my fave I'd love to hear those you mentioned..."Open Mind" is one I'd love to hear & I believe that "Sunloathe" is only one they haven't tried a band version of...someone else here mentioned that Jeff has done a solo version of that, but man I'd love to hear a Wilco live take on it!!
I also remember reading something Jeff said about the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" songs working really well with "The Whole Loe" songs, & that that was why they might do more of YHF this tour, because it fit so well with TWL & since they'd be doing lots of that to support the new release, it made sense to him to do songs in the back catalog that felt the most complimentary...or somethign to that effect.

In case anybody cares, here was the Lee Ranaldo Band setlist from last night (I'm really digging their set the more I see it and get to know the songs):
Waiting On A Dream
Angles
Off The Wall
Xtina As I Knew Her (w/Nels Cline on electric guitar)
Tomorrow Never Comes (w/Nels Cline on electric guitar)
Shouts (w/Nels Cline on lap steel)
Hammer Blows (w/Nels Cline on electric guitar)
Thank You For Sending Me An Angel [Talking Heads] (w/Nels Cline on electric guitar)>
Fire Island (Phases) (w/Nels Cline on electric guitar)
Is Nels playing with him on a regular basis on this tour?
I dug/dig Sonic Youth, but...for example, I'm a much, much bigger fan of Yo La Tengo...I'm glad to see Lee Renaldo, but seeing him open for 4-5 shows after NYC led me to take it easy yesterday & take the person I'm staying with in NYC out to dinner...it was still humid (though not as hot & oppressive at the day before for the opener- most of which I caught), so we just got there late & listened in the background & strolled about in the shade...
She's a huge Nels fan & was a little bummed when I told her about this this morning...not too bummed though, as she was originally only going the first two nights (her first live Wilco gigs), but was so blown away that she got a tickets for night #3 last night.
I'm good catching him a few times on this tour, but...if Nels is sitting in on a regular basis, then I'd try to catch all of his opening sets for those 4-5 (& let's be honest, it almost certainly going to be 5) remaining shows for me.

Thanks to bbop for the thread in "After The Show" that filled in details I couldn't recall!
Fun groovy little surprise/secret gig in a great small setting...mostly four piece with John S. on acoustic guitar, & Pat S. on acoustic guitar & piano with a bass player & drummer (Greg Wieczorek on drums and James Haggerty on bass .)...nearer to the end, Pat S. switched to electric guitar & did a few songs there...the harmonies between John & Pat were an absolute highlight...as was the surprise encore covers of "Sentimental Lady" by Fleetwood Mac/Bob Welch & better yet, "You Can't Have Me" by Big Star, which was truly amazing!! And Nels Cline was there, with wife Yuka Honda (of tonight's opening act Cibo Matto)- when Pat was asking if the piano was loud enough...Nels quickly yelled "no" & had his band brother's back, until it was right & got his OK. Nice.
These aren't in order, but here's some of the songs I'm pretty sure they played...but it's been a long week with lots of driving & I'm only recently (this last year) more familiar with their material, so some of these I'm 100% on, & some are ones I'm pretty sure they did (I'll try & note the unsure ones)...Looking forward to catching them again someday...hopefully, at least, at Solid Sound 2013 (I'll be there for sure, hope they are too!)

Well a brief 2012 check in...love, & bought, the black 2012 Summer Tour Men's shirt ($25 & 100% organic cotton) with the Psychedelic Neo-Dragonfly type artwork!...Also got a couple soft, unstructured cotton baseball caps (a mere $20)- Maroon with a white "W", with the same cool "W" Logo that's on the facebook official page (minus the two baseball bats though) & "Wilco" written on the back...adjustable, & they really look like a team's cap...Team Wilco that is!
https://www.facebook...&type=1
They play a tour of triple A baseball parks (ending up with loads of clips on MLB.com from '09, and/or '10), they sponsor a Little League Team (in Mass. I believe it is) & now this...what's not to love?
I spoke to someone who's touring the mrech end of things with Wilco regarding the baseball caps & here's the deal.
Apparently these hats/caps are going to be available on the website fairly soon- he thought they were already, but they aren't. Originally they were available in red, blue & maroon...but they sold out of the end of the red ones the first night in NYC & they aren't re-ordering the red ones- looks like those were limited & now discountinued. They only had the red ones in NYC & there were none to be had at all on nights 2 & 3. They have re-ordered the blue & maroon, & those will be what will be available online, but when that will be is still an unknown. In Cooperstown they'd gotten back in the maroon ones, but the elusive blue ones were still unavailable...but hopefully they'll land soon...
I've got 2 maroon, & 2 red...and the only mysterious unanswered question that remains is...is that Mets blue, or Yankees blue? Either way I'm pickin' up at least 2, maybe 3.

Thrilled to be able to do something like this to get more high quality great Wilco material & support the band!!! Can't wait to hear these, but will have to get home from the NYC jaunt to do so...nice to look forward to between last night of NYC (7-25) & Cooperstown (7-28)!!!

An old Bass player I used to play with (& his new, to me, wife) are meeting up with me for Cooperstown & the Mass-MoCA show. I'm staying with them in Mass., which allowed me to go onto Hartford the next night.
I hooked them up with camping tickets via you fine folks here at "Via Chicago". They've seen Wilco lots of times together (with their son Lou In Utero & then with him since he's been born), & Eric's first gig was '96 I think he said- but they've been as a couple somewhere between a half dozen & dozen times. We're all doing Mass-MoCA 2013 together as well!!
Since they just got these camping tickets, they now have 2 extra regular/non-camping tickets for Cooperstown. I told them I'd list them here, & at the Steve Hoffman Forums.
I'm sure they'd love to get their cost ($50), but I also discussed it with them & they are open to any reasonable "best offer" as well.

Nice to get the report! I heard about this..first from a writer from Relix magazine who I happened to sit next to...and then from someone afterwards who sat next to some of the Guthrie family at the show...since I'd just seen The Autumn Defense in NYC & knew it was going to be Pat & John (& no one else), I decided to get back to the friend's house who I was crashing with...sorry to have missed, but glad to hear the cool report!!!
