  1. Does anyone have 2 tix for the Pit or the 100's. I can't believe I got shutout!

I PM'd you...I won't know for sure if I have extras, or how many, until early June, but...they'll be at cost, of course, & I'd MUCH rather see a Forum member get them...

Great seats...they are in section 100 (which is on the right hand side if you are facing the stage), but they are as close to the center as you can get...literally aisle seats #1-4, and 22nd row- Row V.

Friends of mine from N.J. might want to go...but there son's band is trying to get into Gathering Of The Vibes & there is a voting contest to get on the bill that won't be closed until the start of June.

I love them, but they are running in 3rd or 4th place, and more importantly behind by a 3-1 margin...so it's really just how many of them want to go.

PM me back if you want to be first on the waiting list.

  2. I'll try & get back to you on this (very busy), as I just did CD-R comps of all this type of stuff...editing it to the Tweedy lead vocal stuff first, then the ones he'd written...Uncle Tupelo, Loose Fur, Golden Smog, The Minus Five, the thing he did with his son- The Raccoonists I think it's called, Jeff Tweedy solo stuff is worth trying to compile as well...

I just don't know if I can cut & paste my iTunes playlists (seem to think that I can't)

The thing is, if you have the albums, it's really pretty easy to figure out on your own...

  3. Does anyone know much about this venue (Highland Bowl)? Looks like a hillside in a park with a concrete bandstand. GA / standing only? Kinda nondescript.

    42621b64-8ce6-4b81-b9e3-c6c86f6d65d5.jpg

First of all...the Rochester venue presale is still going on & the password is: "rochesterevents"

Then to answer your question...The bandstand itself is kind of nondescript, yeah but...it is in Highland Park in Rochester! Highland Park boasts the largest & most varied collection of lilacs on the planet Earth (no kidding). There is a Lilac Festival there every May. & it is incredible...of course by the show they will be long past bloom (just like at the time of the gig at the Cooperstown venue, it will be way before the gorgeous Autumn colors that were highlighted in the picture that Wilco posted on their facebook page)...but...Highland Park is an absolutely beautiful park!! And it's a great little venue to see a show in. I saw The Mekons there many years ago (missed Johnny Cash there when I lived in NYC, & missed Furthur there two years ago), & I saw a little mini-fest there last year with Alison Krauss & Union Station, Jerry Douglas, Ralph Stanley, Tony Rice, etc..

  4. I PM'd you too...

I was inspired & encouraged by Johnny Yuma (whose seen them a bunch) to take a solo jaunt this last year to Detroit to see them after a friend from Buffalo had to cancel. I think Johnny said he'd done a couple (two?) such trips on his own & had a great time. I loved my lone road trip, & it was an amazing show!! I highly encourage you to consider still going no matter what. I think you can find cheap enough lodging via lots of online options, but more about that later...

I'm actually now going to both of these shows on my own as well, but...I'm staying with friends, & going to the show with friends in both places...be glad to meet up with you, just to meet up.

I can suggest both priceline.com for super cheap hotel stuff & checking into youth hostels (http://hiusa.org/)...if I can help you out, I will....you can message me here...

Also regarding Mass-MoCA...you can join as an individual member for $65 & then get a ticket before the auction for $113. Both the membership & ticket price, because it's a benefit, are tax deductible, so it takes a little of the sting out of it.

I call Mass-MoCA at 413-664-4481 & go to the option (think it's #1) to get tickets, the box office folks can get you your membership & your ticket instantly. I just didn't want to take any chances with the auction & it's a great cause.

The auction starts Friday April 13 at 10AM, but goes until Mon. April 16 at 10AM, so I'd be they aren't drawing winners until Monday, but I'd get a move on if you want to get a membership & get tickets for sure. I was also told that if you bid around the actual ticket price ($113), or slightly more ($120) that it betters your odds. They are taking a certain amount of very low priced bids, a certain amount of medium ones, but when those get filled it'll only be the higher bids....so low bids can win, but like I said I just didn't want to chance it. Good Luck!!

  5. I'm not sure where's the best place to post this, so I'm doing it here. I've got my ticket for Hartford on 8/1 and I really want to do Mass MoCA on 7/31, but haven't got my ticket yet. I'm planning to fly into Providence on 7/30 and rent a car so that I can get to North Adams that evening and spend the next day enjoying the town before the show there on 7/31. Then I would leave the next morning for the drive back down to Hartford for the show on 8/1, and fly home from Providence on 8/2.

I'm planning on doing all this alone and would LOVE to find someone to share expenses. Anybody interested? It would involve two hotel nights in North Adams or nearby, plus the cost of the rental car. I do have a friend I'd be staying with in Providence on 8/1.

I'm really on the fence about making this expensive trip on my own if I can't find someone to share the expenses, so if any of you have any bright ideas I'd welcome them.

I'm planning to cross post on the How to Fight Loneliness forum. (How appropriate!)

  6. Me & Johnny Yuma are headed to Camden/Philly, Cooperstown & Rochester!! A show a week, at week's end, for three weeks running.

And I've decided to hit both Mass-MoCA & Hartford shows too..figured if I was in for penny, I was in for a pound. I have an old friend & bass player who I hadn't seen for years, & we'd hooked up on facebook... I found out he & his wife have seen Wilco 8 times I think it is, and they live right near Mass-MoCA & were raving about the fest & all. I got them two tickets for Cooperstown & they really recommended trying to come in to the extra small venue show there (1,000 capacity). I found out that the membership ($65) & ticket fee ($113) were both tax deductible, so I took the plunge today & am going.

A good friend I went to school with opened up a Community Acupuncture Center in New Haven, CT so I thought...hmmmmmm...an easy shot for two more gigs...I think this can be done...

I'm going to try & upgrade my seating for the Hartford, CT show tomorrow (have a single 6th row seat, just on the side) & get two more (hoping my friends do decide to go- they aren't sure, as it's a week night, but I'm gonna offer to pay half for letting me crash there), but if they don't, then I could have two extras- so I'll keep folks here posted if needed...we..shall..see.

  7. Thanks for the "polite" reply Shakespeare. Their website doesn't list details about the show/prices for the Rochester show. Cooperstown is listed with all relevant details.

I'll check later on the site and see if there is an update.

It was confusing to me too, since Hartford & Rochester didn't say Wilcoworld pre-sale...I called Front Gate & they told me they were NOT handling the Rochester or Hartford shows, but...then I got an email back from the promoter of the Cooperstown show saying that the Rochester show WAS going to be a Wilcoworld pre-sale.

I'm gonna try at 10:00 for both Rochester & Cooperstown. Hoping for the best!!

  8. WILCO PLAYS COOPERSTOWN, NEW YORK!!! It's official!! Details coming tomorrow morning!! "Summer tour Jeopardy time. Wilco tours for 100. This first rate Belgian Brewery is nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near a town better known for archiving baseball history and the Last of the Mohicans than for hosting bands like Wilco. This summer, it'll do all of the above."

    https://www.facebook...&type=1

Beautiful Picture...and the gig in Rochester, on August 3rd is outside at the Highland Bowl, nestled in the middle of beautiful Highland Park. The park boasts the largest, & most varied collection of Lilacs on the planet. They can be seen, smelt & felt in full bloom, every May at the annual Lilac Festival, which will be long since over by the time Wilco arrives, but it'll still be gorgeous & a great time at the gig. I saw an amazing Mekons show there years ago...missed a Johnny Cash gig there when I was living in NYC, missed an amazing Furthur show there two years ago due to family health issues... & caught a great bluegrass festival there last year with Alison Krauss & Union Station, Jerry Douglas, Tony Rice & Ralph Stanley (amongst others). The Brewery in Cooperstown will be cool, but it won't be scenic Autumn anymore than the Lilacs will be blooming in Highland Park...but both are outdoor shows, almost 100% sure to be general admission & both are in fun & beautiful outdoor settings!!

  9. From the official Wilco facebook page:

    "Another week, another bunch of Wilco summer announced. We'll start with the Mountain west and the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Here we go. Boise, ID 6/26 (on-sale 04/13 @ 10AM); Missoula, MT 06/28 (on-sale 04/13 @ 10:00 AM); Duluth, MN 07/01 (on-sale 04/13 @ 10:00 AM) & Rochester, MN 07/02 (on-sale 07/14 @ 10:00 AM). Details: http://wilcoworld.net/shows/

More to come very soon so stay tuned."

That last line again, reads- "MORE TO COME VERY SOON SO STAY TUNED."

    As in tomorrow!!!!

    From the official Wilcoworld website...

Wilco has announced shows in the following cities:

    June 26 - Boise, ID

    June 28 - Missoula, MT

    July 1 - Duluth, MN

    July 2 - Rochester, MN

Information about pre-sale and on sale dates/times can be found on the SHOWS page.

There are 9 other cities named Rochester in the U.S. ...I'd bet that there is going to be a big announcement, supposedly tomorrow, involving one of those other Rochester cities...and a another show near to that particular Rochester that boasts being home to a particular Hall Of Fame...I'm actually hoping for more than just the two I've heard about...come on Mass-MoCA!!!

    LATE ADDITION NEWS FLASH!!

From the horses mouth...I can now tell you, for sure, that Wilco are playing Rochester, New York. Since they just let the cat out of the bag themselves. It looks like they are playing Salt Lake City, Utah too! The Rochester, New York announcement will be tomorrow. Details to come, such as date & venue- though the most faithful here have known those parts too- since Friday, & continuing on a daily basis, when I started responding to some very curious private messages & spilling the beans to folks here, one by one in private....lesson learned? The squeaky wheel gets the grease & ask "linclink" & you, most likely, shall receive).

Just to keep some of you in some suspense- there is another show, about 3 hours from Rochester, right before that. Soon we'll know when tickets go on sale (that even I don't know)...but if you look back at some previous posts within this thread you'll be able to know where that show 3 hours from Rochester is...have fun with the detective work & hunting...

The official good news came via a couple of comments on the Wilco facebook page about 1 & 1/2 hour ago...Here's the actual post::

"Take 2. Is this thing on? More shows to announce. Correct info this time. Boise, ID 6/26 (on sale 4/13, 10AM); Missoula, MT 6/28 (on sale 4/13, 10AM); Duluth, MN 7/01 (on sale 4/13, 10AM) & Rochester, MN 7/02 (on sale 4/14, 10AM). Details: http://wilcoworld.net/shows/"

The first 4 commentslooked like this:

Dan Nailen: There's a serious lack of Salt Lake City on that western swing. C'mon!

    Wesley Crump: YES!! SLC!

Joe Stark: Seriously, where is the Salt Lake date?

    · Michael Goodson: Roger

To which the official reply from "Wilco" was:

be patient oh you residents of the Salted Lake....

Then, after the faithful began to react to the hope given to the residents of Salt Lake City-

    SALT LAKE CITY!!!!!!!!

...there was this little exchange, which warmed the cockles of my heart, on a cold, super blustery Western New York Monday...

    : Rochester!

to which came this cryptic & mysterious reply...

    yes or Rochesters...

    Yay!
    :)
  10. I couldn't find these on the official Wilco website, but wanted to share them here as they are still available via the Brooklyn Vegan website...

Wanted to add these two, in case anyone still didn't have them...they are official post-"Kicking Television: Live In Chicago" releases, and are even listed in Wiki in the official Wilco discography & they are, as Tony The Tiger used to say- GGGrrrrrrrrrreat!!

  13. i don't think a promoter would care who or when someone was promoting their event as long as the papers have been signed and it's a go. Seems it would make their job a bit easier no matter before a official announcement or not.

I wanted to be safe & respectful here...but honestly I have to say that I feel pretty much the same way....although I don't know if it would exactly make their job easier...I just don't see it as making it any harder, or causing them any trouble...

My bet is that papers have been signed, especially if there is an announcement date set as well...and...since word is going to be out on the 10th to thousands of folks, what does it matter to have the most dedicated few hundreds get some early Easter insider excitement...will they lose sales? will it cause Wilco to cancel the gigs? are there other rumors about other shows? have those ever tanked a show?

To be safe I actually just mass PM'd a few dozen people on facebook (via two large emails there) on Thursday & asked them not to post anything (& everyone has honored that & no one has)...& the whole reason was to share the excitement, but also to help folks start managing stuff to get ready for tickets going on sale, etc.. This is a thread about "rumors", & though I can say I'm 99% sure & would bet the farm on my info, I don't have it firsthand...I also wrote on Wilco's official facebook page saying- see you on August 3rd & nearby at a place with a hall of fame (could be football, hockey, baseball, rock 'n' roll) & they didn't delete it, or say anything negative about it there either...

  14. If I were a promoter who worked really hard to plan a big show, I'd be pretty disappointed about somebody leaking information about it days before the official announcement. Passing on information that a promoter probably told his or her friends in confidence isn't cool.

I went & deleted out the info...but I know for a fact that this has already been leaked & is spreading...and honestly I don't see that it will be harming the show any. If anything it'll go from a few dozen people knowing about it, to maybe a few hundred. There's only a couple of days before the show announcement, & what would it do to harm the show, or promoter? I'm not being contentious, I'm actually curious as to what harm you think it would cause?

...but taking into account your suggestion, I've decided to just PM "A Heart I Know By Heart" with the info about it & avoid any consternation...I also PM'd you as you might want to take a long look at your own post if you have such concerns & consider re-editing it to delete out some info as well.

  15. I heard a great one, from a friend who has friends who are supposedly friends of the promoter who sealed the deal...and I did meet those folks that she heard it from that night & they are huge Wilco fans.

I may post more on here soon, but I don't know how quiet, or not, this is supposed to be, so I need to check on that first...but...

From what I understand the next announcement for tour dates will happen this Tuesday & will make folks in Western & Central New York State VERY happy! I'm thrilled & will now be going to one show very nearby, one fairly close & the one in Camden/Philly.

  16. From the Official Wilco Facebook page today...

"Many more gig announcements coming over the next few weeks. So keep an eye out."

Nothing new...but at least their done & cooked & ready to serve...looking forward to more east coast dates & a MassMoCA announcement soon!!

  17. I just PM'd the OP of a thread here entitled "12.09.11 and 12.12.11 roadcase rips". He actually ripped most all the roadcase shows (though someone on the thread posted that Tanglewood was missing- so we are looking for that one, if you have any leads), and he posted a link to access them all. There were errors (missing songs) on 4 of the shows, & we've been corresponding some about that, etc. & I just let him know about this show...he's a busy guy, but is looking to correct the errors on the other shows, was interested in locating the Tanglewood show & I'm betting will be glad to have learned about this one.

Here's a link to that thread...enjoy those other roadcase rips!!!

    http://viachicago.or...-roadcase-rips/

Look like there's a good chance we'll eventually be getting access to rips of both the roadcase Palladium show from 1/24 & last year's Austin City Limits show!! And corrections of the old posted roadcase shows here...in the ne--nearish future...stay tuned to Via Chicago...

  18. Yeah, I'm dying to hear about MassMoCA; it's got to be the last weekend of July if it's going to happen since they're off to Europe the first week of August. I'm hoping to receive a grant to go study the Pueblos in the Mesa Verde region for the end of June, first half of July. If I get it (notification comes tomorrow), I am so there. Then there would be the issue of getting from Cortez to Red Rocks, but that's a problem I hope to have.

Good luck with Red Rocks! The MassMoCA show is rumored to be being planned for late July/early August...there's two weekends, & nearly 3 weeks available between the July 21st show & the first date in Europe August 10th.

Lots of open dates/times after they finish a week or so out of the country May 31-June 8, & they are currently only scheduled for 4 dates at various festivals in Europe from August 10-16.

While I doubt they'll add much to May (though who knows) with 7 dates in the U.S. & then the travel for the trio of dates in Europe that run through the first week in June...there's plenty of June (2/3 European dates & 2 in Red Rocks, CO so far), July (only 3 dates- KY, IL & NJ), & August (4 dates in Europe)...not to mention September for Summer surprises a-plenty to appear!!

  19. Another roadcase show to rip!!! Apparently it appeared exclusively on their facebook page, and not on the official Wilco website.
