  1. the rainbow SG!

Crap! I missed it...what song was that on?

    the show got archived...

On this Hangout Festival video the rainbow SG comes in on "I'm The Man Who Loves You" at 57:30

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdfDAN-zrdk

Can't believe no encore. You think they just didn't air it?

They may be abbreviated sets because of the schedule of the concert line-ups...we'll find out when the official website posts the setlist...but I was a bit surprised myself...

  2. Catching what I can at work (REALLY wish that had been announced earlier, so I could have planned for it)...

This is what I've got so far for the set list...anything I missed?...

    1- Poor Places

    2- Art Of Almost

    3- I Might

4- At Least That's What You Said

    5- Spiders (Kidsmoke) (acoustic arrangement)

    6- Impossible Germany

    7- Born Alone

8- Laminated Cat (Not For The Season)

    9- How To Fight Loneliness

    10- Whole Love

    11- Too Far Apart

    12- I'm Always In Love

    13- Jesus Etc.

14- I'm The Man Who Loves You

    15- Dawned On Me

16- A Shot In The Arm

    and apparently no encores?

  3. For the record, I cannot imagine this happening...and if I did, I'd go, of course, but seeing one gig would be fine. I'd like to see them bury the hatchet & do a show or something, but a tour?!? I highly doubt this. And I'm way more excited about what Wilco is doing. I dug Uncle Tupelo, but I absolutely nuts for Wilco!!

  4. I'd say the release of the 8 bonus tracks on Record Store Day did nothing but revive interest & deepen an already stellar reputation. I think it's as brilliant, if not the most brilliant, live album ever.

I know when lots of folks were recommending Wilco to me, they'd point to this album as the best starting point.

  5. Tampa

    St. Augustine

    Red Rocks

    Red Rocks

    Wolf Trap

    Wolf Trap

    Charlottesville

    Mass MoCA

    Hartford

Wa-Hooooo! All Hail Kong, King Of The 2012 Tour Dates!! Note the variation of locations (New England, to Virginia, to Colorado, & Florida)...North, South, East & West...most miles logged, widest variation of dates chronologically as well as geographically, & the biggest enchilada- most gigs gone to, with 9!!! And note that that includes two double shows/two nighters with Wolf Trap & Red Rocks & also a three nights/3 shows in a row run 7/17-19!! I say go for the two night stand in NYC & break double digits!! And I must ask why no Miami Beach on 5/15, when you're going to Tampa 5/16 & St. Augustine on 5/17?

  6. Personally, for me it'll be...

    1) Camden, N.J.- July 21st

    2) Brooklyn, N.Y.- July 23rd

    3) Brooklyn, N.Y.- July 24th

    4) Cooperstown, N.Y.- July 28th

    5) North Adams/Mass MoCA- July 31st

    6) Hartford, CT- August 1st

    7) Rochester, N.Y.- August 3rd

I saw someone else did this, so now (I'm adding this the day after my original post), I'd ask what # shows these are for you? Nice if you can add the details of which tour, how many times a tour & if you can that far- the locations for the shows...for some this could be a rather long & detailed list...as one person has already mentioned that the 3 shows they are seeing this tour represent #26-28 for them.

I saw them for the first time in Detroit last December. I was so blown away & am so crazy about "The Whole Love", which they feature liberal amounts of, that I decided to go as whole hog as I could & try to hit as many shows within a 6 hour radius as I comfortably could.

Soooooo...these are shows #2 through #8 for me.

  7. They just added a Palladium show to the Roadcase. Pretty remarkable setlist.

A few heads up issues on this...

#1) This show is in locke456's roadcase rips already. It's the 4th from the bottom (with the Letterman Show, & the two ACL's from '07 & '12 being below it)...he grabbed it when it was available via the facebook page- see #2...go get it, it's great!

#2) For some reason this was only available through facebook for awhile. But it's been up previously via facebook, just not on the official website yet. I only listened to it once, but yeah, it's a great setlist & a great show!!

#3) It's not 1-30-12, it's from 1-24-12, & that's how it was listed on facebook...somebody screwed up on the Wilco page & has it listed wrong. There was no 1-30-12 show there, or anywhere else. They had the night off & played in Calf. from 1-22-12 through 2-1-12, but this is off.

    http://wilcoworld.ne...2-hollywood-ca/

I think the mix-up is that they put this up to celebrate the upcoming show there on 9-30-12...

Here's their FB post on it...

The Hollywood Palladium show added to roadcase to celebrate 9/30 Hollywood Bowl (tix onsale tomorrow/10AM): http://bit.ly/JSiBUF"

  8. Drove 1 & 1/2 hours round trip to get my closest TM terminal in an independent record store. Tickets wouldn't come up, & this has happened twice to me this month now, because- although it shows the tickets as being on sale at the terminal they aren't & then they just don't show up...and sadly the folks at the store can't do anything about it. They were totally pissed off...it even showed up as available as they repeatedly tried to get tickets & came up with nothing being released. Ticketmaster was matter of fact & unapologetic while they admitted that it was announced that tickets would be available there, & still appeared that way too...it just wasn't the case. No tickets at terminals, only on the internet.

Luckily...I had a back up plan, and called a friend in NYC who had two screens open & ready to go, as soon as they didn't come up I put her into motion. She's the person I'm going with & she had 2 tickets for each night before we'd worked out the logistics of what was so screwed up with TM. They suck, but I'm going to Brooklyn on July 23rd & 24th.

  9. Not sure the AMEX thing is going to work. On TM it is still showing as a "venue" presale.

It turns out there IS a venue presale...but...I called the venue folks & they said there were only 100 tickets for each show for venue presale & that you had to join some "friends of the park" type thing, at $50 minimum, to get the code...hasn't been leaked elsewhere & for $50, I'll take my chances tomorrow. You can PM me if you'd like. I know a GREAT old school independent music store (records & instruments) & they have a ticketmaster outlet & I'll be there with cash (which makes things go faster) to get tickets to both shows tomorrow & I'd be glad to pick up for you, as I'm only getting two for each show & the ticket limit is eight. Let me know if you need help later today- PM your phone number so we might talk to iron out the details if you want me to try. Good luck to you whatever you decide!!

  10. The "veune" pre-sale is now listed as an American Express presale, which will only work if you have an American Express card...though I did find one listing online claiming this about the password...

"You can use this presale codes and information to get tickets:

8005253355 or AMEX – an American Express Card is required"

    Here's the source:

    http://www.tmpresale.com/2012/05/03/wilcos-show-in-brooklyn-ny-presale-code.html

Here's another page from the same folks about American Express Presales, including how & where to get a card fast...

    http://www.tmpresale.com/2007/08/27/american-express-presale-information-amex-presale-passwords-for-amex-presales.html

    Hope this helps.

  11. OK, now this is just getting silly,. I see how addiction can creep up on you, and I wonder if this slow trickling out of dates is designed to turn us into addicts?

This year alone, I've been to the Tweedy solo shows in Chicago (my first time, a must-see), and I've got lined up Tampa and St. Augustine (since they were early announcements and followed up on my enthusiasm from the Tweedy solo shows), then they announced Red Rocks, and how could I not? Never been there, dream concerts in a legendary venue, so. . . sold! Then the Mass MoCA benefit (just HAD to do that) and you can't go all that way for one show, right? So let's add Hartford the next night. OK, this is veering into dangerous obsession territory.

So now there's back-to-back Wolf Trap shows and Charlottesville, where I lived for 20 years. I mean, come on! I live in Norfolk--these are the only dates within easy driving distance and where I have friends and a free place to stay. I've got to do those, right??? But that will be 11 shows under my belt before the end of the summer. Honestly, where does rational thinking kick in?

Anyone else had this dilemma? I really don't think I would have committed to doing all of these shows if I'd made the decisions all at one time, but this sloooowly rolling out summer schedule has made me an unintentional total fanatic.

    Do I need professional help?

If you do, see if you can get me in the group rate.

    My tale for this year...

~ Part1) Don't know how close they're coming...so we get tickets for Camden July 21st.

    ~Parts 2 & 3) Then we've got close by Rochester Aug. 3rd (30 min.) & Cooperstown July 28th (3 hours)

~Parts 4 & 5) My old Bass player & his wife are Mass-MoCA members & we're meeting in Cooperstown & with 1,000 seater, & their insistence that I have to see them there- because it's just the best, I'm in for North Adams (July 31st), but since I'm going I figure, friends in New Haven I haven't seen in ages, it's Hartford (August 1st)too...

~Parts 6 & 7) Two shows in Brooklyn?!!? I lived in NYC for 6 years, stay with friends, in Brooklyn when I there, who are huge fans...back to back nights means I'm in.

I said pretty much anything within 6 hours or so & I was in...and so it goes. 7 shows. Yay...and yikes...

But, to be honest, I wish I'd have known in advance, it really would have been helpful.

Love the triple bill in Camden & I'm already at a Festival in Ithaca, N.Y. that day, so it's only 3-4 hours to the show & back to the fest on Sunday...so that would have been a maybe.

And if I'd known I probably would have chose between the Mass-MoCA & Hartford, or the two Brooklyn shows...though I might have done both. I don't know really. Maybe I'd still be going to 7 shows...more Yay than yikes...but little yikes...and I'm kind of holding out for Tweedy solo in Toronto (know he's played there) or NYC (think he's played there) in the future...but if worse comes to worse, maybe Chicago...and...I'm dying to do one of those five nights in Chicago at different venue runs. That is the ultimate Wilco splurge...and hopefully in my future.

  12. Yeah "A Ghost Is Born" certainly wouldn't have been as it is...

I wonder if they would have mined that huge reservoir of unreleased material that the YHF sessions produced. Incredible songs. The finished YHF certainly has it's own unique vibe to it, but...song wise the unused stuff stands up with the material on YHF & it would have been interesting to see where they might have got taken to.

  13. This was my one purchase today at Record Store Day. Even though it's only like an EP's worth of out & out Wilco (5 songs with them in front), albeit with them as the back-up band on 4 songs too...& for my taste it's pretty Billy Bragg heavy, it's still great to have anything new, or previously unreleased coming out.

I also have to say that I think there are a half dozen great Billy Bragg songs spread over Volumes I & II, I have to be honest & say that I could easily find 5 Billy Bragg songs that I would drop & replace with the 5 Wilco songs here....but I get that there had to be balance on those albums, etc.,-...I have a comp CD that just lines up all the Wilco stuff & then puts the best Billy on the end...after today the new version of that will have these 5 on it & even less Billy/Natalie.

Also, while it's rumored that the new Flaming Lips album that came out today may have a CD release soon now...here it is streaming online now...

Think you have to start at the bottom of page two & work your way up & backwards to the top of the first page.

  14. It's official - two nights @ Wolf Trap! And, yes, they did sell out the Filene Center in 2009.

    Ticket Price: $45 in-house, $35 lawn

    Wilco

    Special Guest:

Lee Ranaldo Band (of Sonic Youth)

I'm seeing 5 shows this tour already...but this is tempting me....5 & 1/2 hours away, friends to stay with in Baltimore (who I'd love to see & go to the shows with)...must...stop...somehow....Hi, my name is John & I have a Wilco problem ;)....Don't think I can do this one...really...but soooo tempting....

  15. Just as I typed the last message, the email showed up saying that I was a high bidder. Crisis narrowly averted.

I'll be at Newport, N. Adams, and Hartford with my daughter. So excited.

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  16. I bid a little more than that, and I haven't heard anything yet.

I really hope it works out for you!!!

When I found out that they were taking a certain amount of lower bids & only so many tickets (1000-# of pre-sales), I decided to take the chance out of it & ponied up for a membership & pre-sale ticket (especially since both are tax deductible & it's a great cause) ...An Bass player friend & his wife are members & are going (as well as meeting me in Cooperstown too) & I also justified it by figuring this would lead me to go to Hartford as well (in for a penny, in for a pound)....and it did.

I know a few folks who are waiting it out with the auction...the tricky part is that it is a lottery & higher bids can still lose out...I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

  17. ok...I gotta calm down here...all the recent show announcements, to a gig, I had conflicts of some sort or another...the best opportunity was Rochester, but that wasn't going to work out because I'm going to be in...wait for it...COLUMBUS, OH. that weekend...is it possible for them to hit C-bus on the way home? I've been looking at their schedule and I know they're heading to Europe about a week later...so any insight from my fellow VCers? late Aug/early Sep may work as well...keepin' my fingers crossed...

Congrats it's on Ticketmaster before the official Wilco announcement...outdoors...probably general admission then...

Soooooooooo...here's you link, but keep your eyes & ears peeled on the official Wilco website for pre-sale info...
