Has anyone considered installing one of the browsers that DOES work? It took Chrome a little over a week for it to work after the thread was started, now it works wonderfully. Just sayin'..
OK I just downloaded Chrome, and I still can't get in!!
The best I can get is this "
"This is Google's cache of
. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Feb 8, 2012 01:43:03 GMT. The
could have changed in the meantime.
I get to the "cached" page & can see what it looked like then, but can't interface with anything from it. Too bad.
Is the deal that I have to keep loading this for a week on that browser?
I really appreciate the effort, and am far from tech savvy, but the set up on this seems, to put it diplomatically, questionable, at best.
Good intentions, appreciate the effort, and hope that mine pay off eventually as well...
-
Same here... "Firefox can't find the server at www.sooutoftune.org." Been trying all week.
Yeah, I try every day & it's now gotten worse, and reached that same point when I try too...hope this sorts itself out at some point...
-
No luck for me on firefox. I can't even get the site to load.
Me neither...think I've tried hundreds of times at this point...and so it goes...or doesn't actually
-
Although the Massachusetts date hasn't been specifically announced, since I know that's happening & it's within 5-6 hours I'm counting on that one as the first of as many as I can get to...meeting an old Bass player of mine there...and then anything I can get to within 5-6 hours...
-
Still doesn't work for me from either home or work computer...and I've tried linking here, on the Wilco facebook page & just by tying in the address...really hope the bugs get worked out sooner than later...appreciate the effort though...& good luck ironing out the bugs & all...
-
A few things...on Pitchfork- some writers better than others...and I've read some stuff there, but overall it seems like a hipster's ghetto.
As far as their ratings for Wilco's catalog. It's all subjective, lets get that out of the way, but to me they are beyond laughable.
Since Wilco's founding in the early 90's, I'd say there are scant few bands whose catalog from this time is even near to in their class...for me that'd be primarily Yo La Tengo, & The Flaming Lips...
For the record the two albums from this era that I can say, without hesitation that I'd put up with any of my favorite Wilco albums would be Paul Simon's "So Beautiful Or So What" & "Surprise".
I'll also note that, from this particular time, I prefer Paul McCartney's later era renaissance to Bob Dylan's (fine stuff but overrated for me & I'm a Dylanista of sorts), so he gets some high marks too (and while I'm still more of a Lennon & Harrison guy, as years go by, that'd be by less & less)...oh yeah, and a couple high water marks for The Mekons ('94 & '00) during a time when their career has generally fallen from the best of the best to merely very good albums with great moments (live they are still up there with the greatest out there when Tom is on board, and not that far off from that without him, but somewhat so...)
I'll go even further actually, to say that to me Wilco's catalog ranks up there with any American artist, or other artist period, that I loved with all my heart, or that anyone would care to name. Their run has been without any less than stellar albums in my book. They are pitching a no-hitter, or on a batting streak of DiMaggio like proportions. There are varying degrees of greatness in their catalog and that's about it. Not unlike The Beatles, or The Velvet Underground...or you fill in the blank & I'll answer in the affirmative to Wilco's work standing tall next to it. I
'm not trying to split hairs in some pissing match of better or worse bands of all-time. I'm just saying at a certain Olympian level, it's down to as great as there has been, and no more need be said. On some days it's this artist, or album, and on other days others, but only a few hit those rarefied heights & Wilco are one of those rare few who have & what's at least as exciting is that they still do. I don't know how long they can continue it, but "The Whole Love" is my personal favorite & that says something strong about all of this indeed...oh & they are at least as great, if not possibly the very greatest live band in the world at this particular time.
To throw out the kind of numbers Pitchfork did would be the equivalent of applying the same type of ratings to Neil Young's works in the 70's, or Dylan's in the 60's...shall I go on...just beyond laughable is all.
I think that about does it. And of course, as always, your mileage may vary...

Oops "Black Moon" WAS in the show...I wrong listed it as a song I'd have liked to have seen them possibly include in the broadcast...oh well... speaking of which my fave older songs that I'd like to have take the spot of the Nick Lowe performance would have been ones that weren't on previous broadcasts..."I'm Always In Love", "I Got You (At The End Of The Century)", "Outtasite (Outta Mind)", "Heavy Metal Drummer".("Reservations", "Box Full Of Letters", "Misunderstood", "Pot Kettle Black", "She's A Jar", "I'll Fight" & "Red Eyed & Blue" are also great & have never been on a broadcast)..or any of the aforementioned tracks from "The Whole Love" like "I Might", "Standing O", "Whole Love", "Rising Red Lung" or "Capitol City"...
"I'm A Wheel", "Muzzle Of Bees" were from the broadcast of the 2004 show (don't know about "I'm The Man Who Loves You"), but don't know that much about what did (know 5 songs), or didn't end up on the show yet...so as I said I'd try to shy away from things that have already ended up on other shows..."Poor Places" from this broadcast was part of the performance from 2004, though I don't know if it ended up as being shown or not...
2007 Broadcast:
1-You Are My Face
2-Handshake Drugs
3-Side With the Seeds
4-Via Chicago
5-Impossible Germany
6--Sky Blue Sky
7-Too Far Apart

2004 Show 9/20/04- don't know what got broadcast or not...anyone else? Though the songs with ** I've found video of, so I know they were broadcast numbers...
01 - Muzzle Of Bees**
02 - Company In My Back
03 - Hummingbird
04 - Hell is Chrome**
05 - Handshake Drugs
06 - At Least That's What You Said**
07 - I Am Trying to Break Your Heart
08 - Shot in the Arm
09 - Jesus, Etc.

11 - The Late Greats
12 - I'm the Man Who Loves You
13 - I'm A Wheel**
14 - Theologians
15 - Poor Places
16 - Spiders (Kidsmoke)
I'm totally confused about the 1999 performance...the video on youtube says it's from that show, and it sure looks like ACL, but both Wilcobase & their official website only list 5 songs as having been performed?
** in 2004 they also played the Austin City Limits Festival 9/19/04- wonder if this got filmed too?

First of all- GREAT SHOW!! I know someone posted it earlier, but I'm going to include the link to the freshly archived new ACL episode & a few other links to hour long, or longer shows...
I'm also listing the broadcast setlist vs. the actual setlist. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Nick Lowe fan & I really appreciate them having the love & respect they do for him to have included a song of his within an 11 song broadcast, but in retrospect I REALLY would have much rather seen one of the more than a dozen Wilco songs that were edited out...I I think I would have preferred what I think someone else here mentioned, that they would have included another song from "The Whole Love"- I'd probably have gone with "Standing O", "I MIght" or maybe "Whole Love", but I wouldn't argue with "Black Moon", "Rising Red Lung" or "Capitol City" either...and I was thrilled to see "Open Mind" (probably my fave ballad on the album, and if not my fave, then one of my 3 or 4 fave songs on the album) made the show!!

Can't get to the website at all...from this link, or from the one provided on the facebook group page. I'm hoping that all the newness wrinkles get ironed out easily for you & wanted to say, first & foremost- THANKS!! And to wish you luck with your efforts! Blessings Of Love & Light To You & Yours & All!!
-
Great news! I hope this does well enough that they consider releasing a live album next year...and/or a series of live shows available from their new label!!
Mine is pre-ordered & ready to go-go!!

Do you have the crop circle one?

I know they did an Austin City Limits & all...but I'd really like to see a nice DVD/CD set. Great chance for the new label too.
The last live, "Kicking Television" is old enough now to warrant a new volume...especially with how varied their set lists are...I'd be hoping for a triple live CD, priced at a nice double CD price...but hey that's just my personal hope.
Any official documentation from this tour would be appreciated. I think "The Whole Love" is both my favorite, and their strongest release, and they did plenty of songs from the album on this last tour (just like they did lots of tracks from "A Ghost Is Born" on "Kicking Television")...
That 10th anniversary "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" would be nice too...but...
I'd rather see them put out a nice collection of all their rare, odd, b-side tracks on their new label...and...
Since they run their own label now, and they are such an incredible live band, with such varied set lists, different line-ups, etc.
I think that doing some kind of series of official live release series would be incredible!!
They got their own label...it's time for the studio & live Wilco bootleg series/Anthology albums to begin!!

if you're looking for super old stuff i doubt many old timers here want to give their stuff up.
however if you're ever in south east tennessee check good wills. my dumb ass gave a bunch of wilco shirts to goodwill without knowing until it was too late. some from summer teeth era that i will never see again. still tore up about it.
It's not so much much that it be real old, or even how old...just old enough, shirt wise, to not be from the current run of too long KungFu's...hat wise I'd just take anything...I've gone through various times where I've reduced things down in my life & just wanted to see if my unattainable Wilco stuffery needs might coincide with someone's cleaning out the closet of their life, etc.
And about the good will disaster...ouch & sorry...hope somebody who could appreciate them ended up with them...
-
What I would suggest is just put in a search on ebay for used Wilco t shirt. There's usually lots up there.
Good suggestion. I've done that, repeatedly. So far I've found one old one ever...most all of them are from recent years & the KungFu collection...
-
Did I miss the part where you say what size shirts you're looking for?
Hmmmmm...sounds like a lead...I tend to wear a Large, but some Extra Larges can work...and if I keep getting into shape, maybe a Medium....measurements armpit to armpit & from the center of the top of the collar in the back to the center of the bottom of the hem in the back...hopefully this works!
-
Sarah C.- Appreciate the sentiment/suggestion...but...I'm not much on sewing, not currently dating anyone who is...and am interested in any older shirts that I may not have seen. I love Yo La Tengo too, and KungFu handles their shirts as well...just don't work well for me...To be honest, I only think a minority of the shirt designs are interesting & while there are some I like, I don't care for them enough to go through all that trouble (at least it seems like a bit to go through, when you don't know what you're doing). I'm not a big fan of the company from an artistic perspective...curious to see what old stuff is out there...and, of course, if anyone is interested in getting rid of any such stuffery....
-
Sorry if this is the wrong place, but...
Sadly pretty much all the shirts at the current Wilco website, via KungFu Nation, are invariably too long length wise for me to wear.
They also currently are out of any baseball caps/hats.
Sooooooo...I thought I'd take a shot here.
My email is "HareDurga@yahoo.com"...and I'd love to possibly get an old Wilco shirt or two that might actually fit me.
I'm late to Wilco merch, so I don't really know a ton about what they've had. I've been buying some stuff lately, for me & to give out as gifts, to support a band that I love...and thanks to this site, whose music I am gathering a ton of, at no cost, so I'm glad to give back....but some things I'd like are not there/are out of print.
Tops on my list is soft, unstructured cotton baseball caps. I actually got the very last one from the U.K. Wilco store, but I'd love to get anymore possible...having one, you always risk it getting lost, stolen or ruined with no spare.
Next up would be any shirts. I'm pretty sure they've never had any tie-dyes, but I'll admit to being a sucker for a well done one...but any/all shirts would be of interest.
Finally I picked up a couple of the Futbol style "The Whole Love" Wilco scarves from this tour...but there a few "out of print" ones up at the U.K. website, but like the baseball cap, I've been told by the U.S. HQ that they are gone & not going to be re-stocked. Anyone with any old ones like that (know there have been a few styles), I"d be interested.
Anyone else with anything odd, or interesting Wilco related, that they don't want anymore & wants to send a pic my way. Well, then we can talk...
So if anyone's got any stuff like that & they could mail me pictures, I'd be interested. I'll continue to buy stuff from their regular website to support them...but what doesn't work for me, doesn't work, and what ain't there anymore is, well, gone.
Please feel free to move this thread...really didn't know where it'd fit in.
-
Analogman- Sorry about the bad form...I know stuff isn't to be "sold", I was just offering to compensate anyone for their time efforts...maybe that'd be better done privately.
I'm sure the stuff is online. I don't have any doubts about that...the whole point of me asking on this thread was hoping that someone who has done that searching might share either the info of where to look/find...or, better yet, the fruits of their searching.
I'm sure we all have busy schedules in our lives, and I won't bore you with all the details, other than to say that there has been a fair amount of continuing health issues in my family over the last year or two, and I run a stand-alone (as in I'm the only person who does any & everything) acupuncture practice. So I tend to listen to music in my car, and do what I can with it otherwise inbetween patients at work, etc....
So I hope someone might write to me at "HareDurga@yahoo.com" to share some Wilco goodness. The live stuff appears to be pretty easily & completely covered. It's the non-regular album studio material that I'd like to get a full/complete collection of at some point or another...thanks to all for your efforts here & all you've built...nice to play here indeed!!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GRATEFUL!!!!!! Blessings Of Love & Light To You & Yours & All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am new to this forum, but am a huge Wilco fan.
I've exhausted all the regular release albums, and a couple official website downloads of live shows...and now I'm here.
Sadly, as you all probably know, lots of the old downloads from the official Wilco site are now defunct.
I'm no audiophile, and would just like to get some version of the non-regular album tracks that are out there.
I've seen the long list of rare & odd tracks here, and hope that someone might be kind enough to contact me with either the best resources to download this material...or send me files, and/or CDs. I'd be more than glad to pay for materials, and/or time/access, etc.
My email is "HareDurga@yahoo.com". Thanks & Blessings Of Love & Light!

REALLY appreciate all the info...Here's three things that I've found that aren't on the list.
I found them via my Spotify account, and I've downloaded all three via either amazon or itunes- check both sources as some were available on one, but not the other....
~"Handshake Drugs" Live version From "Radio Woodstock 30th Anniversary Album"
~"Jesus Etc." Live Version, with Andrew Bird, from Summer 2008 From "Funny People (Soundtrack)"

I truly think the Grammys may as well be called the Shammys, as they are such a total sham...but...I now I'm in a minority when I say I think that the last three Wilco albums might be their best three, and that the last two are my favorite two, and "The Whole Love" is my absolute favorite...so since my other favorite album this last year, Paul Simon's "So Beautiful Or So What" shockingly wasn't nominated (since he's done with this crowd in the past & it was all over the top of most critic's polls) I'm rooting for Wilco, as much as one can root for a system/show they don't believe in...
As far as the other nominees, well the Jeff Beck was certainly very good, and the rest only good at best & often less than, so it's a blow out as far as I'm concerned.
The big news is whoever Rolling Stone got as a Vegas odds maker has Wilco as the favorite with 8-5 odds...
