  1. Indeed it would be. I apologize.
  2. Nothing wrong with posting your opinion, and especially not in the way you did it. I can definetly see where that whole thing is coming from, but I disagree with it. I mean, face it, without money in our society you can't live. like someone else said, it would be great if artists could live a monastic life and sustain on the charity of their fans, but that's not realistic. Any artist who does not want to make any money off of their work is naive. Basically, I'm cool with this move because it helps ensure that the guys can focus on their music instead of having to worry about eventually havi
  3. I am Trying To Break Your Heart didn't set out to be about anything but the making of a Wilco album. All of that other crap just kind of happened. They never set out to "stick it to the man". I don't see how selling a song to VW goes against artistic integrity or compromises the music? They don't change the music in any way, and I think thats the most important part of it. They are just having the music play in the background. It's not like one of those awful Applebee's commercials. And if this really ruins Sky Blue Sky for you, then that probably means you never liked it in the first place.
  4. There's a song by Gym Class Heroes that name drops like 27 bands or something. Lyrically it's awful (it's in love with it's own cleverness), but musically it's kind of cool. I took cutie for a ride in my deathcab She tipped me with a kiss I dropped her off at the meth lab Before she left she made a dashboard confessional And spilled her guts in cursive but whats worse is I could still see her bright eyes like sunny day real estate Oh my and in a funny way the ceiling tastes So high but no chance My little chemical romance left a bad taste in my mouth But I approached her like hey mercedes wh
  5. Are you joking? Is it really coming to this? Those are all opinion statements, except where they aren't judgement calls (like saying Bruce doesn't need the money since he's sold like 100 million records and has had some tours that have grossed like 60 million). If you can't tell the difference between you saying what you said and what I said, then there's nothing I can do to help you.
  6. 22 2/3 innings with no earned runs. He's been hurt by the fact that the Marlins may have the worst infield defense in the NL, since he's a groundball pitcher. His last two starts were cut short because of hamstring tightness. Yesterday he was removed early because they were being cautious with the injury. He's been by far the Marlins best pitcher, and when he's got the sinker working he's practically unhittable. Flashes of Kevin Brown's stint with the Fish. His sinker is his only ++ pitch, but he's also got a pretty good changeup and a decent slider. Of course, like any pitcher who relies on
  7. Sergio Mitre has a 23 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings streak going, but he has like 1 win in that span. Ridiculous. And Miguel Cabrera's nickname is apparently the Maracay Masher. That's awesome.
  8. The way I look at it is this, emotional baggage or not: It's a song in a commercial. Nothing more, nothing less. Someone on another board commented on it thusly, and I think he kind of sums it up very nicely without all that annoying sentimental "THE MUSIC BELONGS TO ME" crap: "VW came to Wilco, not the other way around. They weren't out whoring themselves to companies and only lending their tunes to the highest bidder. If they did maybe I'd have a 'problem' with it but for me its a BFD moment. An artist is someone who produces their art without needing pay. When they won't produce that ar
  9. Woah, woah, woah. Wilco was in a commercial? Why didn't anyone mention it around here?
  10. You should start another confrontational thread where you imply that it is being "buried" by the moderators because it's a dissenting opinion. That was really fucking fun. You are a tool. Best of luck in trolling the next message board you come across.
  11. "We met at Niagara Falls. You won't know her."
  12. Yeah, I actually probably think of him laughing during the "Why you think I'm leaving" part in Sunken Treasure pretty early on after I hear about the song. Maybe the 3rd thing I think of.
  13. The only way you're getting on VH1 is if they decide to do another spin off of Flavor of Love about mountain men. Or something. Hey, I'm not hating. I'm just saying the only difference between you and a major label is the amount of success your label has had.
  14. I think there's a show on MTV that takes care of that stuff. They send you a trainer who yells at you, and then you cry while like "Black Hole Sun" or "Umbrella (Ft. Jay-Z)" plays in the background. Then you resolve to become the best damned message board moderator this side of the Appalachians, despite your parents misgivings about it.
  15. That might be because you are defending an indefensible position. Do you only listen to music released on independent labels? Fine, you own one. The only difference between you owning an indie label and the guys who own Sony, Capitol, etc is success.
  16. Do you only listen to bands that release their albums independently? Have you ever seen a show in a clear channel venue? Have you ever listened to commercial radio. Do you own a television? Did you build everything you own from scratch? Are you a semi-ammish, who is ok with using computer but thinks that pants with metal zippers are gateway to hell?
  17. You said "truly great", not "influential to like 14 year olds who wear black eye makeup".
