When Martin Bashir does it, it's vile and disgusting, and he deserves to be fired. When the ZZ Top dude does it, it's his first amendment right to espouse the values of persecuted fundamentalist Christians. Get the difference?

They posted a track on rollingstone.com, They Love Each Other from 9/5/89. This might have been the only time I ever saw the song performed by Jerry. Don't think I saw the Dead do it. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/jerry-garcia-band-get-funky-proclaim-they-love-each-other-20131218 Jerry's voice sounds really good for post-coma. And the backup singers he had on this tour were tremendous. I know I'm always talking about how I don't like to listen to much of anything after the early 80s, but this will get some love from me for sure. I think he sounds better here than he did on that Li

And the people who like licorice, really like licorice.

Thanks, man. I literally laughed out loud at this. I don't want to sound like I'm slamming any of these bands just because I am not a big fan. I have listened to a fair amount of the 'Mats and I thought they were all right, but didn't really get excited about them. On the Minutemen, actually, I checked out Double Nickels on the Dime from the library a few years ago and thought it was pretty entertaining. But then I asked myself, "How often am I really going to listen to this?" And the answer was, "Probably never." I got some Husker Du this year and gave it an honest try. I just couldn't st

I almost hate to admit it, but I'd never even heard of half of those bands (Minutemen, Husker Du, Replacements) until I started frequenting this board years ago. I did go back and check a bunch of them out, and was pretty much underwhelmed. Interesting that some of them influenced Jeff Tweedy, but he has far surpassed them in my opinion. I mean, The Replacements covered Black Diamond by Kiss and it wasn't even as good as the original. So does that mean Kiss really sucks or not? I mean, if you can't do better than Kiss.... Maybe I should have posted this in the Musical Blasphemy thread ins

Well, I am just going by the thread title, Foods you eat that others despise. I didn't say I actually like tofu. But vegetarians sometimes have limited options, so.... You would be amazed by how many people I have met who won't touch Indian food, especially curry. My mom, my ex...even my dad, who is pretty hardcore, won't eat the real spicy stuff.

Great quote in the comments section on the Rolling Stone site: "Gene Simmons is the Donald Trump of rock."

Entire ethnic groups' cuisines: Indian, Thai, Middle Eastern. Curries. Hummus. Freshly squeezed vegetable juice. Tempeh. Tofu. All kinds of stuff.

Heroin will do that to you. -
Where did you read that they are not performing? The story on Yahoo has this: http://news.yahoo.com/nirvana-kiss-peter-gabriel-headed-152540436.html

Rising Red Chicken Wow, that's kind of disturbing.

Can I do the same thing on Sister Ray, so I don't have to hear Lou sing "suckin' on my ding-dong" 158 times? -

I believe that for sure. There are a tremendous number of VU songs I love, but the album White Light/White Heat mostly sucks. When was the last time anyone honestly sat through The Gift and actually enjoyed it? -
I have had some good ones in the past, but not recently. One guy was younger than me (direct supervisor, not owner), and he was very cool. My current manager hates the place too. She spends half her day complaining to me on Skype. It's a truly dysfunctional environment, but keeps limping along like a Third World country.

I love how a bunch of us Deadheads came in and derailed this thread. Think of the thread as a parking lot now. -
Wow. Speechless.

No, this guy is more like a straight version of Elton John with black hair. Short and portly.

Probably very familiar to the owner.

Aw, thanks for worrying about me, Hixter. I didn't know you cared! Don't worry, I have a smartphone. Also, I could be taking a personal day today.

In all fairness, the women who encountered the camera incidents were somewhat young and fairly cool, so I suppose they weren't too traumatized. Who knows? They used to laugh about how they were both holding the camera in their hands when they realized it was that camera...and then they went Ewww in unison and literally dropped it like a hot potato. Lol Believe me, first opportunity I have for a comparable position pay-wise, I'm done.

Ha! You would think so, right? Really, about the only redeeming quality the guy has is that he likes to ... well, you know. I guess we all do, right?

Since message boards are (more or less) anonymous, they can be a good place for people to vent. I did a little of this in another thread recently, but I failed to provide much background on my workplace or the owners therein. I hope people can use a thread like this to talk about why their boss or bosses are not the greatest. By the way, some of the stuff I am posting here may sound over the top or, literally, unbelievable. It's true stuff: ya can't make this kind of thing up. 1) Leaving personal porn lying around. Yes, in the good old days before I worked here, legend has it that the owne

Thanks for your post, kidsmoke. I suspect that even some of our long-term members are either unaware of ViaChicago's rules and regulations, or haven't reviewed them in so long that they have forgotten them completely. I know I forgot myself in the fray. I have never hit that "Report" button before, but I'll keep it in mind. I certainly don't want someone feeling like they ought to report me.

I would not argue with any of these.
