  1. I have always loved that clip. I think someone posted on YouTube (maybe on another version of it) "Jerry schools everyone on this cut." Ha!
  2. I am with Radiant Witch Face on all of the comments above. I don't celebrate organized religion, no family in the area, so to me it's all just a hassle. Happy when it's January 2nd and we can get back to normal. Thankfully, my fiancee is a Buddhist, and once we are married I will have an official excuse for opting out of the holidays completely.
  3. I am not a big Amazon seller, but if I buy something and choose to resell it, I typically try to list it at a competitive price. I won't sell at a loss, but it is rare to actually make a real profit on there. Typically, you're just getting back part of your original cost. Now, eBay is something else...getting people to bid things up out of control. I am not big on that.
  4. Whatever the market will bear. I just got my money back by selling my Dave's Picks Vol. 8. Gotta list them soon after they sell out on dead.net, or they will likely not sell (on Amazon) any time soon. By the way, I totally get being ticked about Road Trips releases, especially if you were at that show. One of the reasons I'm so psyched about the upcoming Long Island Sound Jerry release is that I was not only at that show, it was also the only time I saw Jerry solo. Overall, however, I think I agree with this guy. http://www.jambands.com/reviews/cds/2008/07/22/road-trips-vol-1-no-3-summer-7
  5. I agree. I'm glad they did it. The absurd notion that POTUS is "court packing," just because he's trying to do his job, is, well, absurd. The level of obstructionism and utter disregard for the office of President is really unprecedented. I think it's disgusting. One of my Facebook friends posted today that the total number of Presidential nominees blocked, in history, was 86. Another 82 have been blocked under PBO. Unreal.
  6. There's also a new CRB song, in case that hasn't been posted yet: http://www.americansongwriter.com/2013/11/song-premiere-chris-robinson-brotherhood-train-robbers/
  7. Brevity is not my strong point, at least not on here. I really prefer to have much longer conversations, because most message board "one-word post" conversations quickly devolve into sarcasm, satire, flame wars, etc. Tone is well nigh impossible to determine from a single word. This thread has gone on for more than 150 pages, through all kinds of topics, including arguments, name-calling, people getting made fun of, and so on, and no one has gotten banned from the board (to my knowledge, anyway). I think it's a good place to discuss issues of the day, and I can tell KevinG agrees and posts t
  8. I hope they can be instructive too. I even provided some instructions for what people can do if they want to "opt out" of someone's online life.
  9. What I actually posted was "If anyone here would prefer not to read my posts – and, hey, I can imagine there are several – please feel free to ignore me." I would call that a suggestion or request at best...maybe a plea, at most. Your comments about having a conversation demonstrate that you are willing and able to do that. Writing in paragraphs helps. What I cannot abide is when someone posts only one-liners, or even just one word answers, for every single topic. Impossible to have a dialogue like that. This ain't Twitter. As for Palin: even when she speaks or writes in paragraphs, I fi
  10. I did indeed. That is why I put my request in the form of a request, and not a command. Not the first time I have made said request, either. Last time was in a personal message. Now I am making it a public plea.
  11. I have about five people whose posts consistently annoy me (in multiple forums) that they are on ignore permanently. You're not one of them. Congrats!
  12. I mentioned earlier that I have requested that at least one VC member ignore my posts (I believe I did it via messenger on here..it was a while ago). If anyone here would prefer not to read my posts – and, hey, I can imagine there are several – please feel free to ignore me. I really don’t mind at all. In fact, I would respect myself less if everyone liked me. And it’s really not that hard to set Ignore Preferences. First, you go to your name in the upper right hand corner and click on it. Click My Profile. Click Edit My Profile. Under Profile Settings, click Ignore Preferences. Then, unde
  13. I honestly try my best to maintain an open mind and listen to specific points and issues. My best friend is a Republican who has probably never voted for a D for any major office in his life. But we have reasoned, calm, rational discussions, and at the end of the day, we can shake hands and walk away. It's never threatened our friendship. I can see, however, why a person would ultimately dismiss everything that comes out of someone's mouth if they simply find that person's personality to be utterly repugnant. Sarah Palin's vapid, folksy, sarcastic persona comes to mind, but there are also pe

  15. If you think you've got the right to tell me what to do...well, you've got another think coming. I have read many of your posts on this board, and most of them are monosyllabic snark at best or obnoxious crap at worst. You think you are hilarious, I'm sure, but you only come across as thoughtless, arrogant, entitled, and immature. I have zero respect for you as a human being, so don't think for a moment I'm going to do anything you suggest. Feel free to put me on permanent ignore, as I have told you before. I don't need or want any response from you to anything I post in any thread.
  16. I see Rob Ford as more of a Matt Foley figure. As for Sarah Palin: it's hard to imagine anyone with an IQ over 70 taking her seriously. Might as well listen to Glenn Beck or Limbaugh.
  17. You sure have a high % of being wrong. I would imagine it is frustrating being you.
  18. Okay, well, here's a nice segue back into regular politics, courtesy of the "comments" section on HuffPost: How's that?
  19. He's got cojones...at least when he is armed and/or confronted by an angry woman or teenager. I consider myself a real peacenik, but I'd personally like to punch the guy in the face just once on behalf of all women everywhere.
  20. The one and only: Buddy Guy! My fourth or fifth time seeing him.
  21. I haven't gotten to it yet, but I listened to all of the first disc as of last night. Had to take a break, as I figured I would. Going to a show tonight, and have a 45-minute drive home, so maybe I will pop it in then.
  22. Yep, that is the long and short of it. There are plenty of women with low self-esteem looking for men to fix. "If I could just get him to _____, he would be perfect." Famous last words.
  23. Well, we do talk about politics on this thread, and the politics of the George Zimmerman case - including all his domestic violence incidents - go far beyond race or gender. The guy has demonstrated, time and again, that he is a ticking time bomb. Of course, he also knows how to act soft and wimpy, which he immediately does as soon as he's confronted with his behavior. It's always somebody else's fault. By the way: full disclosure, I live in Florida, and I really want this jackass off the street. He killed an unarmed teenager and has shown a pattern of abusive behavior towards women. I
  24. I know that a great many people have defended Zimmerman, though for the life of me, I cannot understand why. Forget about the Martin family, I wonder how many women need to accuse this guy of domestic violence before we say, "Okay, where there's smoke, there's fire." In 2005, his former fiancee filed a restraining order against him for domestic violence. His soon-to-be-ex-wife called 911 on him, though she later changed her mind about pressing charges (probably a prudent move, given his proclivity for waving guns around and, you know, pulling the trigger). Now his new girlfriend is alleging mo
