If I were Lance, I think I'd call bullshit on this board, and tell people that the Wilco fans on VC kind of suck. That's what I got out of that thread.

Here's something I've long wondered. I'm a Red Sox fan. Why is it I root against the team that represents the division the Red Sox are in? Same question for, say, a Mets fan rooting against the Phillies. Ideally, aren't teams battling to represent their division in the postseason, and if a fan's team doesn't make it, the team that is from that team's division should have rooting rights carried over to them? Shouldn't it be an "our division is the best" type of mentality? Know what I'm sayin'? For the record: fuck the Yankees.

Is this song as good as I think it is??

In fact, the great VC crash earlier this year could be attributed to the board nearly turning into an Avett Bros fansite. -

I finally heard a song by these over hyped pretty boys - and it sucked. -
Say what?

Invoking George Brett as a positive comparison to Jeter sounds weird to me. George Brett has always seemed like a cock.

I just realized something, as I was washing dishes. I am bullshitting myself (and you guys here) defending this movie, spouting specific notions of the point of the filmmakers and the journey Max takes. I don't know what the hell Max goes through in this movie. What he learns, what each wild thing each represents, how differently he sees his world after leaving theirs. All I know is how this movie made me feel. It didn't transport me back to childhood, and it didn't make the book come alive for me. It achieved something so odd and so unlikely that I never even thought to seek for it in art b

Yeah, nothing changes at all. Oh - except for the hero's view of the world and his perspective of the human condition.
-
Hey, you just described the movie! Although I'd add before "longs for home": "realizes no one can do everything for everyone they love."
-
When the credits rolled, I turned to my wife and said "Hell of a way to tell kids there's no God."
-
OK - thanks for the elaboration (and its non-stupidity).
-
Hmm - I was bawling by the time Max was running away from home. Like I kinda said before, I think I might be the one guy they made this movie for.

Get it right: "Island In The Sun" was/is great - "Beverly Hills" is shitty(est) Weezer ever song.
-
Since seeing this Saturday morning, I can't stop thinking about it. Maybe my strong connection to the book (I read it over and over as a kid, staring at the wild things, fascinated endlessly), and my age (mid-30s), made me the ripe candidate for Jonze/Eggers' vision.

I've been wanting to make a thread focusing on 'great tunes that you can no longer listen to due to extreme overplay' - 'Laid' would be on there. So would 'Love Shack', another great 90s tune.

I kinda wish this one was hardly ever played live. It's their best song, really. And the studio version is perfection.

Boy's dignity floats away in stupid publicity stunt
Sir Stewart replied to cryptique's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Let me tell you something: it was a hoax. -
-
Can you elaborate? I am confused as to why a team's fans would be considered to be "degrad(ing) themselves" by celebrating the efforts of a player on their chosen team. I don't get it. EDIT: But, please do not bother answering if your answer is stupid. Thanks.

The little girl next to me was no more than 4 and she did not seem disturbed - mostly bored.

It's conventionally a kids movie, but...

Have I forgotten how to use the internet or are there no galleries in any of those links?
