  1. I really, really like Weezer's singles. The majority of their albums are not very good overall. Weezer really is a singles band. This is my playlist for them:

    1. My Name Is Jonas

    2. Buddy Holly

    3. Say It Ain't So

    4. The Good Life

    5. Pink Triangle

    6. El Scorcho

    7. Hash Pipe

    8. Island In The Sun

    9. Dope Nose

    10. Keep Fishin'

    11. Perfect Situation

    12. Pork and Beans

    13. Troublemaker

    14. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)

    15. (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To

  2. Working a record for self-release and really want to cover this song, if only because i want more people to hear it. Any ideas on how to get permission?

You will not be able to cover it until Jeff Tweedy does it. I have tried this in the past and got this response from Nora Guthrie:

    Dear John,

I received your request through Bug Music. Unfortunately, as Jeff Tweedy is a co-writer (music composer) on the song, he has first option to record, which he plans on doing. That's why your request was denied.

Once the original composer has recorded a song, then others can release covers. But for now, until Jeff releases it, we have to deny your request.

Thanks for your interest in this beautiful song...

    All the best,

    Nora Guthrie

  3. I thought it was a open tuning at first listen, but I'm not convinced. Look at

. At 37 seconds in, he plays the Eb at (what I'll call) first position (3x0323) then to Eb at 11th at 55 seconds.

Also interesting in this evidence at the second "not going far", he plays the wrong chord (at first) at 29 seconds (wrong chord at 6th fret) then quickly adjusts to the 5th fret. The barre chord fingering does indicate perhaps drop D (?).

    Other evidence

    What do you guys think?

Tweedy is definitely in some sort of open C tuning. I was fooling around with it last night with this fingering position: 0(12)(11)0(12)0, based off some video from a European festival. That position is close to what he is doing.

  4. I once promised myself I would never shamelessly promote my band anywhere, but here it goes: Tomorrow, Tuesday September 29th at 6 pm, my band Modern History will be interviewed by Fearless Radio for an hour, as well as preview three or four songs from our upcoming album. To tune in, go to http://www.fearlessradio.com and hit the listen now tab. To hear some of my band's material, check out www.myspace.com/modernhistorymusic.

P.S. Mods, feel free to delete or move somewhere if you consider these types of threads stupid and well, shameless.

  5. AM-Too Far Apart/I Thought I Held You

Being There-The Lonely 1/Why Would You Want To Live

Mermaid Avenue 1-Another Man's Done Gone/anything Billy Bragg touched

Summerteeth-I'm Always In Love/Can't Stand It

Mermaid Avenue 2-Remember The Mountain Bed/anything Billy Bragg touched

    Yankee Hotel Foxtrot-Poor Places/Kamera

Lastly, from the Pines Theater in 2006 - Let's Fight. I consider myself damn lucky to have heard this. 2nd performance of 3. Wonder if this will ever show up in some form.

I doubt it, at the Living Room Show I attended, he did not remember this song at all. The group that played with him played it without Jeff because he had no idea what song that was.
