  1. So about 42 minutes in total? I'm sure I've said this before but I really appreciate Star Wars, Schmilco, both the Warm albums, and now Ode to Joy being a single LP. I feel like that's a good length for most albums. A lot of records this year (National, Kevin Morby, etc) could probably have been stronger being edited down a bit, IMHO. The CD era ended up with a lot of records that would have been 10-15 minutes shorter on vinyl and probably better for it, glad to see things shorten down, for some artists at least.

Wikipedia lists the run time as 45:40.

I’ve seen the track lengths somewhere else about a month ago. I have no idea where though, but it’s been around since at least mid-July.

I agree with you about The National record. I skip over the choral tracks.

  2. Squeeze at Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, NH. They were just here this past Thursday with a sold out show which I missed out on. They announced a 2nd show on Thursday August 8th with tickets going on sale the day after at 6am. I’ve never seen a second show added that late. And I’ve never seen tickets going on sale at 6am.

  3. One of the questions that I asked was will there be an opener for the fall shows, since the showtime was listed as 7:30pm for both Boston shows. The openers for the October shows have been announced. Nothing has been announced for November.

I can’t upload the pic because I’m on my iPhone, but you can find it on the Wilco FB page.

Daughter Of Swords - both Boston & NYC shows.

Soccer Mommy - DC, Cary, Atlanta, Birmingham, & Nashville.

Molly Sarle - Tulsa, Irving, Houston, & both Austin shows.

  4. That’s exactly what I meant. Imagine if in some parallel universe the tour dates in Sept & Oct were flipped, so that you have the U.S. shows first. I’m sure if that were the case a lot of people would be upset that the album came out after they saw them. And I mean that it seems like we have more people posting here from the states. So leaking or streaming the album on the official site makes a lot of sense to make fans familiar with the new tunes. I can’t think of the last time Wilco had a tour where it was called by the new album title, but said new album didn’t drop until a month into the tour.

Plus, if they don’t leak or stream the album fans will be rabid when it comes to getting their hands on boots of the September shows.

I vividly remember getting the Schmilco leak and I’m fairly certain that it was on the eve of that tour. It sucks that that tour never made its way to Boston.

RE: Star Wars - the surprise leak happened on July 16th. The official release was on August 21st, so not too long of a waiting period.

Official Prediction: WilcoWorld will stream the new album over Labor Day weekend. A couple of days after Labor Day will be the 1st European show.

  5. I think they’ll drop the whole record before August is over. I can’t picture them playing Europe for a whole month with the record under wraps.

I love the new song. It does remind me of the song in Raising Arizona that Holly Hunter sings to Nathan, Jr.

All 3 that I’ve heard are quite amazing!

I recall The Whole Love being leaked over Labor Day weekend.

  6. I’ve only seen the screenshot of the countdown clock. I’ve watched the video twice and can’t see anything. I hear sound though. It has to be new album related or an announcement. Maybe a single. It is odd that it mentions the WilcoWorld signup page for their mailing list.

Someone over at FB said the new album might be titled The Garden. Not sure if they got that from Tom Schick.

  7. Thanks!! Been waiting for this to turn up somewhere.

Someone on Reddit claims the Wilco Instagram hinted these would be Roadcases as well.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/wilco/comments/cacvyg/solid_sound_2019_roadcase/etak22n/

One of the distinguished VC members posted over at the Wilco FB fanpage that he stood next to the guy that takes care of the Wilco Roadcases at one of this summer’s biggest tours. That guy said to expect them when the new album drops. I took that to mean either a.) September or b.) sometime soon with a surprise album drop like Star Wars. At this point either way could be possible. It’s been a bit over a month since the come back shows in TN & they haven’t had a Roadcase yet. Maybe they won’t.
  8. sorry for your loss. small consolation: was filmed in 4K. hopefully they will release it this way for home use. i'm told you can see a friend of mine from italy quite clearly in the crowd. probably weeping with joy. she's a sweetie & WAY into it.

Thank you! My second cousin died on a Saturday night. I was pretty sure that the wake would never be the same night as The Cure film, but I think they had to delay it to allow out of town family to fly in. Glad I never bought a ticket. I’m guessing October for the Blu-ray.

I just got home from watching it. The film does a great job of remind those of us who have seen them live that they're incredible. And it should be the impetus for those who haven't to do something about that in the future.

Where are you where they had this film on a Sunday evening? I checked around New England and all of the showings were on Thursday evening.

  9. I saw this last night and thought it was wonderful! It made me sadly regret I have never seen this band live. Did anyone else here see it?

I had a death in my family and I wasn’t able to go because the wake ended up being the same night. I was hoping that it would be shown again this weekend. I need to look up when this will come to Blu-ray.

  10. ^ Cool! I remember the clever sleuths found the album & song titles on some page where songwriters get credit for their published works. The name of the site escapes me. I think I took a few screencaps.

Edited: it’s interesting to note that around this time in 2015 Star Wars dropped. Pretty sure it was a Thursday night. July 16th it dropped.

Someone also mentioned on the FB page that Mojo magazine said that they’d be reviewing new Wilco next month.

  11. The first new song was listed as Empty Corner on the setlist that’s going around the FB groups. And Ashes Of American Flags was listed as the first song for the encore.

    Another amazing night!

Oh, btw, last night they had A Magazine Called Sunset on the setlist sandwiched between What Light & The Late Greats. I swear that I read somewhere that someone got picked to do that for the karaoke.

  12. Forgot about the broadcast. Somebody listening at home wanna cap it? :)

I think the last time Wilco played pre-release new tracks live was Solid Sound 2011, right? That pre-dates Roadcase releases, so that's not really any help... IIRC they've released every Solid Sound set since they started doing the Roadcase, but this year is different being the return of the band, karaoke set, possible new songs, etc...

Yeah, this does feel a lot like the 2011 Solid Sound with a new album on the horizon. I was at that one & I’m almost positive that I only have an audience recording of both of those shows. Most likely from you, so thanks for doing that! I don’t know an exact year for the start of the Road Cases.

I’d say go for it. Too many variables might make them not get released or in their entirety. For instance, the karaoke portions. Maybe they have some release forms for the talent.

  13. Anybody that's there this evening (I won't be getting in until around Wilco time) can you let me know if there are any tapers? I have my small taping rig but would prefer not to bring it if I don't need to.

Also do we think it's a fair assumption they'll be releasing these sets?

Well, WFUV is broadcasting tonight’s Wilco set.

Good question about the Road Case. That occurred to me on the drive over. If Wilco plays some new tunes on Sat night, will they be included in the Road Case. Or will they delay it, until after the new album has been released?
