  4. Then he passed No Child Left Behind in an attempt to keep you in 10th grade long enough to fulfill his promise.
  5. Very little, though I'm not sure I accept your premise about the consensus (not that it matters as the consensus has a long history of being wrong). My point was that anecdotal evidence (i.e. it was hot this summer, a glacier melted) should not be used to support a scientific theory. This is the thing that bothers me about the media's attitude toward climate change. Whenever there's some little anecdote that supports the idea that the planet is heating up, they attribute it to global warming. But when the opposite happens, global warming doesn't get mentioned. It's already bad enough tha
  6. And that's why you're an artist and not a scientist. Well, I'm glad you've got the whole thing encapsulated. If you actually read the article, it's pretty clear that biofuels do not reduce greenhouse gases; they just raise the price of food and beer, two things that are very real and important and cannot normally be obtained without this money of which you think so little.
  7. Not to mention narrated by Bob Saget.

  11. What would you do If you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom What would you do If asked to make the ultimate sacrifice Would you think about all them people Who gave up everything they had. Would you think about all them War Vets And would you start to feel bad Freedom isn't free It costs folks like you and me And if we don't all chip in We'll never pay that bill Freedom isn't free No, there's a hefty fuckin' fee. And if you don't throw in your buck o' five Who will? What would you do If someone told you to fight for freedom. Would you answer the call Or run away like a little
  12. Wouldn't that kind of favor big cities over rural areas?
  13. Yes, but what's important is how much our effect on the environment actually affects the climate. If you're talking about passing all kinds of laws and regulations (which all have high costs associated with them) to protect the environment, you can't just make some vague claim that we affect the environment. The global climate is a very complex system that's in constant flux. Maybe our actions modify it, but it's also possible that the effects of solar cycles vastly outweigh anything that we do. Further complicating the situation is the fact that warming oceans actually release CO2, meaning th
  14. I thought we were talking specifically about whether we are affecting the climate not whether we have any effect on the environment. And cockroaches will always survive.
  15. Pun intended? Here's what some Unconcerned Scientists have to say: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...99-7583,00.html http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=88520025 http://ibdeditorial.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=287279412587175 http://www.dailytech.com/Temperature+Monit...rticle10866.htm Not to mention the ice caps on Mars didn't start to melt until we sent those damn rovers.
  16. But I'm not talking about cold spots. From what I've read, global temperatures as a whole have not risen since 1998.
  17. They might be moving back to global cooling again. Apparently, global temperatures haven't gone up since 1998. I've noticed they're slowly moving away from calling it "global warming" to "climate change." That way, absolutely any deviation from "normal" (whatever that means for something that is in constant flux) can be blamed on humans.
