  1. Also, I was at Truetone Music in Santa Monica (Los Angeles) yesterday. They had a prunes & custard, as well as two Hot Cake's. Truetone's Website
  2. Sean Patrick, that looks like a very cool setup. I like the pic of you at the baby xylophone, with all the records in the back. Is that your apartment? Very cool. Anywho, here is my Moog, my baby:
  3. I was consistently seeing them on eBay, but no more. Try gbase.com.
  4. Who cares? Don't be sorry. It was good info.
  5. One of the best bands in the world right now. Forgot It In People is certainly moving up my all-time list, as many others have said. I love the newest album too. It doesn't have the punch of Forgot... but it is still one of the best albums of the last year or so. I have seen them several times over the last 3-4 years and they definitely deliver live. One of the best rock shows around. Their shows with Feist at the Henry Fonda this year were amazing.
  6. Very cool. Thanks for that. I have been considering getting this same setup. Only problem is the damn Moog Delay costs over $600. I already have a Moog MuRF (multi-resonant filter) that has lots of control voltage possibilities like the delay. It is really cool to have so much control right there at your feet. Really makes the effect pedal become another instrument.
  7. Oi. No need to curse. So, if you did no arithmetic, why 86.75%? Actually, it's a pretty good number. Maybe I'll go with 66.67%, though. Sounds more reasonable for my tastes, and we take care of that infinitely repeating 2/3.
  8. Did you literally do the arithmetic on this? As far as the rest of your post goes, I would say yes, he has been very open about his partying and included said exploits in a lot of tunes. BUT... the majority of his songs don't include partying references (most of the best ones IMO). I don't think it should be a big problem. Of course, these are all BIG if's, considering we don't know how sincere he really and truly is about being totally sober anyway. Favorite Albums: Heartbreaker, Stranger's Almanac, Jacksonville City Nights Least Favorite Albums: I don't own any others Peace
  9. Great post, mate. I have to agree with you on all accounts. I was gonna comment on the prices for true '59, '60 Reissues myself, but I decided to let it be. You are absolutely right about Gibson releasing so many Les Paul model changes with 1960-yadda yadda or whatever stuck to them, it just confuses the market.
  10. Love in our life is just too valuable Oh, to feel for even a second without it But life without death is just impossible Oh, to realize something is ending within us Feeling yourself disintegrate Short and Sweet.
  11. Not from Chicago, and can't rep local bands. BUT I will throw in a heavy voucher for Califone. One of the best bands around IMO. If you haven't heard them, think Yankee Hotel Foxtrot on a second hit of acid. I think one reviewer described them as "The Flaming Lips playing the Anthology Of American Folk Music". Which is a great description of their music.
  12. Yeah, my Gretsch (made by Fender) does have fatter frets than my Paul, and, indeed, a bit flatter, me thinks.
  13. Well, first off, I wouldn't order any guitar from Musician's Friend. Check around, there are so many stores that not only give you much better support, but also much better prices. I can recommend The Music Zoo in New York. That is where I just got my Gretsch Silver Jet and they were great. Here is a link: The Music Zoo On the subject of newer Les Pauls, I have a Jimmy Page Signature that has the greatest neck of any guitar I have ever played, it was molded from Jimmy's '59. It is not the newest one that cost like $7k, but the one from the late 90's. Also, the '59 Reissues are amazi
  14. Right. Like I said, 'NOT pre-CBS'. Sorry for the silly semantics. It's just that Jazzmasters are normally referred to as either pre-CBS or just a Jazzmaster. As, like you said, pre-CBS Jazzmasters are generally considered quite special and rare, a collector's item if you will. People don't usually refer to a CBS-era. From that point on, it is just a Jazzmaster.
  15. Again... don't see that too often at an indie rock show. Keep it up, and you guys might convince me to go see these cats for myself. I love the pedal steel. I have a vintage Sho Bud that I don't spend nearly enough time with.
  16. Well, I would be here for two days writing all the stuff on my 30 gb iPod. But here is what I have been rockin the most lately. Thom Yorke - The Eraser Wilco - Kicking Television (Live in Chicago) Serena Maneesh - Serena Maneesh TV On The Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain Built to Spill - Keep It Like A Secret Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise Neko Case - The Fox Confessor Brings the Flood Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse AND Screaming Fields of Sonic Love
  17. Yo, thanks. It is cool to see an indie band playin Les Pauls. Don't see that too often these days. I was wondering if they would recreate all that reverb live, and, indeed, they did.
  18. I was never a big Stripes fan, but I saw them live and it was a great show. I definitely would recommend that any music fan take the time to check them. As far as the Raconteurs go, I was a little unimpressed by their album, but maybe they are a better live band. I just thought the album was uninspired.
  19. I was thinking the same thing. I'm not a big RY fan, in fact, I wouldn't consider myself a fan at all, but I do really enjoy JCN and Heartbreaker. I've actually been listening to 'Dear John' all day, what a great duet (for the record, I'm not a big Norah Jones fan either). I also really like 'Hard Way to Fall'. Good tunes on JCN. They don't quite have the life of Heartbreaker though. I can't quite explain it. Heartbreaker just seems to have a bit more emotion. JCN seems a bit more contrived. I know that sounds stupid, but I'm not trying to be a hater, it's just a gut feeling. Anyway
  20. Eh, like I said, it was a '66 model, therefore, not pre-CBS. And I don't know where you are shopping for guitars, but a 1966 Jazzmaster with block inlays and the bound neck in near mint condition would be hard to get for less than $4500. I have seen a few for less, but those don't have all original parts or they're pretty beat. Most I have seen (which isn't many because they are pretty rare) have been about $5-6K.
  21. How was it getting in? Did you wait in line? Did you make reservations? We tried to make reservations last year, and it was all booked up for like three months in advance. I have been dying to see this thing for like three years.
  22. Very interesting link. Have you tried this program?
  23. Yeah, I would like to see that too. I had no clue. Funeral is definitely one of the songs of the year, and Ben Bridwell does have an amazing voice. Anyone who hasn't checked them out yet, I would definitely recommend.
