  1. I think that I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One is their best, and a great starter. Short of that, go old school and pick up President Yo La Tengo/New Wave Hot Dogs, which is a single disc that contains two of their earliest, noisiest albums. Good stuff.
  2. Yes, I'm sorry to have missed it as well, but familial duty called, as it was my dad's first visit to Chicago since I moved here. Next time I will be there for sure though. And hopefully my team will play a little better. Yeah, the Sox seem to have his number. He actually didn't even seem to be pitching all that badly on Friday night--his pitches were hitting their marks. But the Sox (especially that Thome homer--that hurt) were managing to connect on some bad pitches. A performance like that would have shut down most teams but the White Sox seem to have him figured out. Saturday's
  3. Duff is much hotter than Kevin Bacon's wife.
  4. O'Reilly was fighting the allegations both legally and in the public forum up until it became known that the accuser had audio tapes of some of his more disgusting phone calls. Then all of a sudden he rushed into settling the lawsuit and vowed to never talk publicly about it again. Take that for what you will.
  5. Colbert tonight, commenting on the controversial magazine cover: "I've got no problem with breasts. They perform an important biological function: to give men pleasure."
  6. I love both their albums, although it's not really casual listening music. It's the type of music that, when you listen to it, it's really got to be your main activity of the moment. If you try to do something else while you're listening to it, it's going to be distracting and annoying. But if you really let yourself get absorbed into it, it's awesome (drugs help).
  7. I just checked out Baseball Between the Numbers from the library. Anyone read it? I'm excited.
  8. I think the idea was that he's hurting his supporters by splitting the party and making it harder for Democrats to make gains.
  9. I don't see anything wrong with pointing out the errors made by the victims, if only as a lesson to other people. I certainly don't blame this girl for what happened to her -- obviously it's the fault of the person that committed the crime. However, I think if there's anything good that can come out of something like this, it's that kids might learn that when they're parents warn them about going into unfamiliar/dangerous neighborhoods, about getting drunk, about not being aware of their surroundings, etc. that they are serious, and that there can be some pretty horrifying consequences. I
  10. Personally I'd actually say that O'Reilly is worse than Coulter. Coulter says a lot of shameful things, but O'Reilly says a lot of things that are nearly as shameful, then later denies it and villifies anyone who tries to hold him accountable for it.
  11. I think I'd still rather have Pujols up in a late and close situation than Monroe.
  12. I don't know, after this whole thing Gibson could be working with actors of Schneider's caliber.
  13. Anyway, yeah, Maddux was out of the game when it resumed. The reliever gave up a hit to the very first batter he faced. The weather might have robbed Maddux of finally getting his no hitter to cap off his career.
  14. I think it would be, although I think most people would make a point of the fact that he only pitched 6 innings. If it's delayed too long, he probably won't come back in the game.
  15. Yeah, against a team that is trailing your favorite team by just 3.5 games. You're gonna ruin it!
  16. I can't think of a more appropriate place to see a picture of a nursing mother than a magazine about parenting. That's pretty ridiculous.
  17. I opened this thread up specifically to ask if he was involved in this. Thanks for stealing my thunder.
