  1. A hit, a wild pitch and a walk. Good enough.
  2. Also, if that was the policy, then why did they lie and say it was a mistake? I think that AT&T was censoring anti-Bush speech because the White House told them too, which is pretty much government censorship, no?
  3. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he's on the phone with Bush every day advising him, even after he's no longer at the White House. This is purely a political move to put some distance between Rove and the White House before he's forced to testify.
  4. Rolling Stone Magazine has been pretty useless for years, but in general, I would still say that the tone of the review is way more important than the actual score they give in an album. The reason is, when Rolling Stone reviews albums, one writer writes the review, but their editors all vote on the score to be given to it. So you have their hip-hop writers chiming in on the rock album scores, the rock guys chiming in on electronica, etc. It's fucking stupid.
  5. My favorite Gin Blossoms song is "Til I Hear It From You".
  6. "Most exciting" is not the same as "the best". If it did, then there are several other guys who should be pissed about Reyes getting tagged that way before Hanley Ramirez. I would agree that Hanley is better, but I would argue that Reyes is more exciting to watch.
  7. Here in the streets so merchanised Rise to the bottom of the meaning of life Studied all the rules I don't want no part But I let you in just to break this heart Even though it was only one night It was fucking strange Nina's in the bedroom She said time to go now But leaving it ain't easy I got to let go I got to let go And the hours they ran slow I said everynight she just can't stop saying New York City cops New York City cops New York City cops They ain't too smart New York City cops New York City cops New York City cops They ain't too smart Kill me now cause I let you down I swear one
  8. Dave Grohl is a truly awesome drummer. Seriously. He beats the shit out of the drums, and always in perfect time. Can play a pretty good range of rock styles too. He was probably the best drummer of the '90s.
  9. They were just throwaway lines thrown into an improvised section of the song. Not like they were written down and presented as poetry or anything.
  10. Yeah, they're not as popular as they once were, but they're hardly obscure. Their last album still went gold, and they sell out arenas wherever they go.
  11. It was during a section where he was singing some Pink Floyd lines and threw those in. I don't think he was intending for them to be the most insightful lines ever. Is the quality of the lyrics relevent anyway? And this is a story, as the telecom companies have already been shown to be in bed with the Bush Administration. Do you really feel okay about the communications industry regulating public speech?
  12. He had actually lived up to his hype for the most part up until today.
  13. Except for Sadaharu Oh. And maybe Josh Gibson.
  14. I've seen it referenced in two other places now that Bonds didn't hug his son. So maybe I imagined it or something? I feel crazy.
  15. He ignored him before or after he gave him a huge hug? I thought his speech afterwards sounded sincere, and even touching. Humanized him a bit. Despite his history of being a gigantic asshole, I have no doubt that he was truly touched by the support of his fans and teammates. That being said, let the historical debate continue forever. I love it. And yeah, barring injury (of course), A-Rod will likely end up pretty solidly ahead of Bonds by the time he's finished.
  16. 8-10 years. I sure hope you're going to last at least that long.
  17. That was an important of it, yes, but I really don't think that Thomas Jefferson, who is essentially provided the philosophical founder of the idea of separation of church and state in this country, would agree with you that that was the "original intention." The Founders were very aware of how dangerous it would be for one religious faction to have control over the government. Perhaps they didn't talk about it as much as some people do now, but that's because, at the time, it wasn't as prevelant of a threat.
  18. Can someone please explain to me what it is that people like about Fred Thompson anyway? I mean, yes, he did portray a tough guy on TV. But the people who seem to be most excited about him are the most hardline conservatives among us, and I don't see what it is about him that makes them so confident that he stands for them. He's a life long panderer, even spending many, many years as a lobbyist. He's no outsider by any measure, but that seems to be his angle. He does not have a history of political activism from any position, and his public life has often shown him to fall on either side
  19. What ever happened claiming an alcohol problem and heading to rehab? It's like they're not even trying anymore. "I'm not gay, I'm a racist!"
  20. I don't listen to much jazz, but for my money, Ornette Coleman is as good as it gets. I also love Thelonious Monk.
