  1. I have no problem with JB. What I have a problem with is his sound running rampant all over Warren's lovely songs. The California Folk Rock Mafia was not a good fit for Warren. But the majesty of his songs stand the test of time.
  2. The songs are flawless and I love Zevon's voice and delivery, but the production is very 1970's and has Jackson Browne's heavy hand all over it.
  3. I've never been known around here as an Elvis Costello fan, but his first four records may well be the pinacle of the singer/songwriter genre of the rock era.
  4. I didn't either, but I read these two blurbs: I don't see the comparison, and I mentioned it as a poke at lazy "Journalism". However, I think anybody who like UT and Wilco would connect to their vibe. And it is available for download from Amazon for $8.90. DO IT. DO IT NOW!
  5. The voices are a bit 'Tom Verlaineish". This is from their ep Vera Cruz. The new record has a TP and the Heartbreakers vibe or maybe a Stonesy vibe. The vocals are quite a bit stronger.
  6. I just downloaded the debut record/album from these guys. Became familiar with them from their EP Vera Cruz. This is a GREAT record. They are out of Nashville. I haven't been this excited about a new band since I stumbled across Dawes and got turned on to MMJ. They sound a bit like Zuma era Neil Young crossed with the Faces. Singer warbles a lot like Neil Young but the music is especially polished. They've been compared to Uncle Tupelo and Wilco (but that is probably the new catchall for really cool bands that have a warped take on classic roots rock/roots country.) Apparently there is
  7. "Boy"? Sweet Fancy Moses "Deep Unified Culture"? Tell that to the Quebecois
  8. Not to be argumentative, but it's about YOUR opinion. You love the Police (as do I), so they go on your list.
  9. Hmmm...Denton or Houston. Both really not an option. D-Man is still in school...so it will probably be Saturday in Denton
  10. It's a Canadian thing. They have to pretend like they don't like us, although, they secretly want to have our babies.
  11. Ray LaMontagne I've been sitting here thinking it over, but I really don't see a stinker in their cataloge. Ooh La La is really weak in spots
  12. 83 years old with pancreatic cancer...dude was still scheduling dates until recently.
  13. Really looking forward to MIDDLE BROTHER's release (John J. McCauley III of Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nEEoOstfpA
  14. Oh my God. I now know I am an old fucker with that needing to be explained. (For you younguns the line "We've got Solid State Technology..." means, in effect " We got a bunch of old, obsolete shit that is pretty cool"
  15. Nah...dont' really care enough to engage in the banter. Plus, I don't really think that. Tell you what I do think. Maurice Jones-Drew (twitter muscles) and Tory Holt, Mike Irvin, and Deion Sanders (NFL Network assassins) are pure d punks. Jay Cutler was sacked 52 times this year (you can thank a poor o-line and Mike Martz for that). He had the shit beat out of him all year long. He didn't give up. His body gave out on him. He has poor body language and seems laconic. Big fucking deal. I find it absolutely unacceptable that players in the league would throw him under the bus without knowi
  16. A little birdie tells me that if the Rangers have a slow start and are out of it at the trade deadline...a certain AL MVP may be on the market.
  17. Of course, you could go for the obvious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW88EvEAd0k
  18. Jay Cutler is the new Jeff George. Cannon Arm, Peashooter brain.
  19. this is a secular song that can have spiritual connotations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHNlq0AWr_E
