  1. Ottawa Blues Fest July 4th performers list is below. I don't have a good feeling about this one. I wish I did, since it's 4 hours away & could easily work in conjunction with the Toronto TURF Fest he's playing (which runs July 4-6...my bet now is that he's playing that one July 5th, though that could also be July 6th) right after.

Ottawa Blues Fest July 4 Lineup: Journey, Zedd, Darius Rucker, Bonobo, Jeff Tweedy & Honey Island Swamp Band.

My fear here, like with Mountain Jam (where he's also not a headliner) is that he'll play a truncated opening act "Festival" length set (not even headliner length, which is often 75-90 min.)...so something like 30-60 min., with 45 min. being my best bet. I wish there was some way to know how long he's actually playing!!!

He's headlining in Toronto (which is a safe bet for 90 min., or 75 at least) & at the free show in Pittsburgh (90-120 min., especially if there are no opening acts), & I was lucky enough to make the all-request shows in Chicago earlier this year too. That's pretty good. And...I don't think we've seen all the Spring/Summer solo acoustic dates just yet either. So I'm still holding out hope for NYC shows etc. (and my usual hit list of Rochester-Buffalo-Syracuse...& Cleveland- with Toronto & Pittsburgh already being filled in.).

There are no guarantees but I would guess he's closing one of the secondary stages, which would normally mean 90 minutes.  Seeing that he's a "featured" performer (ie one listed on the poster for July 4 with the other acts listed above) I really don't see him getting less than an hour.

Unless it's a holiday/travel planning thing, you don't have to decide quickly.  Single day tickets almost never sell out and that lineup defintely won't be a sell out.

  2. The originals doesn't hold any real collectable value for me - I know if I don't have it and I want it, I have to pay that premium.  But I am more than happy to sell my VG original copy for $60 or $70 and buy a mint reissue for $40.  Which I guess I should probably do now.

  3. In some respects they are right on point with the prieces.  Used copies of the first Mermaid Avenue sell for $75 and up, so you could argue they are offering brand new copies for half of what you pay for used copies.

And I will pay the $40 so I have probably lost my mind.

  4. Can't find an existing thread for this - all three volumes of Mermaid Avenue are coming out for RSD Black Friday (November 29, 2013).  Priced a little (actually a lot) higher than I would like at $40 but gonna bit the bullet for this.

  5. Hey guys, just messing around about the photos. There are pics, but nothing that really needs to be posted here. It's just a group of people. The point of the thread was to post the set list and share a couple details & thoughts. These events raise over 100K every year which helps a lot of families. And Jeff takes 4 Saturday nights out of his year to do these for 30 whacko Wilco fans. All of this is important to remember.

Thanks for posting. The chances of me ever getting to one of these is extremely thin, so it's great to get a chance to experience it second hand.

    Plus I'm really friggin jealous.

  6. Well someone is buying the $600 seats, because that's why the ones I found weren't even on the floor.

My point, which I didn't make very well, is that even 10 years ago, it would have been unthinkable that a Stones show in an arena would not sell out in hours, if not minutes. To have any choice seats left is an indication that they really have gone to far in their pricing strucuture.

  7. Good gravy. I just checked United Center (Chicago) for tickets, and found 2 in section 102 (side section, row 4, seats 9-10) for $622 each!!

    Who is buying these seats??

Nobody I guess, which is why they are still there. And I would think anybody on the fence already will now be holding out for the $85 tickets. Would love to see them one last time but when ticket prices were announced, I lost interest.
  8. To some degree these people pray on the people who take eBay prices for the "real world" prices. "It's $50 on eBay so it must be worth $50". If you are a seller, you don't need to convince the whole world the White Stripes record is worth $50 - you just need to find one person.
