  1. From the horse's mouth:

"Thank you all for your suggestions of releasing the box on vinyl. As for now, the compilation is scheduled as a 3CD+DVD set. The third volume will also be available on its own digitally starting release day. We will certainly take your suggestions regarding vinyl into consideration."

Why does Woody Guthrie hate vinyl?

  2. Any word on a vinyl boxset? Surely they would make a killing from just people who post on viachicago, haha.

The Nonesuch site doesn't seem to have anything on it but the fact it is being released on Record Store Day would strongly suggest there will be vinyl, but if it's a RSD-thing, they probably won't be doing preorders.

  3. The setlist won't change much in the beginning but there will also be a lot of pressure on those folks to learn all the material. By the time the (unannounced but inevitable) fall and winter dates in North America roll around, they will be changing it up as much as Bruce ever does (which is normally about 30% or so per night by the end of a tour)

  4. I have no idea who owns the rights to this stuff and who profits (or even how much say Billy has in any of it) but I think they pressed 5000 copies of Kicking Television for RSD at $60 or $70 a crack. Depending on your cut, that could be some serious money. Anyway, I have no real opinion on how they do it, just make sure you do it on vinyl.

  5. While I'm really hoping for some sort of vinyl box set, I'm really hoping they don't put it out for Record Store Day, because then it will be really expensive and really difficult to get.

I'm hoping for vinyl too. I would quibble a bit with the above though - although the Wilco-related RSD stuff has not been in any way cheap, it has been fairly readily available. At least compared to other releases.

  6. A rumour quickly spread today that Pink Floyd would reunite in time for the London Olympics.

"Pink Floyd 2012 Olympics Concert Rumor Not True According to Spokesman"

"This is all simply not true," said a spokesman of the band to Outside The Wall. "Roger Waters Tour is in full swing this summer with more shows expected to be released for August in North America, and David Gilmour is working on a new album to possibly be toured in late 2012-2013. These sorts of rumors are spread about like mad every few months and it really disrupts the band members focus on there current projects."

Can't Pink Floyd find a spokesperson who can spell?

  7. I'm all for sticking it to the scalpers, but this is ultimately sticking it to the fans.

In your case, this is "sticking it to the fans". But in most cases, this is a way to make it harder for scalpers. Which is a good thing. And which is why they told you at Frontgatge there was no way to change the names on the tickets. Because scalpers will call Frontgate and tell the exact same story.

I would call Frontgate again and speak to a manager. Of course there is a way to change the name on the ticket - it's 2011. Just because the person you spoke to didn't have the authority to do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. Give it another try. Good luck.
