  1. I suppose it depends how you use it. I'm living quite happily with 8 gigs. Podcasts go on and I delete them after I listen to them. I keep 8 - 12 albums worth of music on it and change it up every so often. On the other hand, the "surprise" shuffle factor with a 160G device must be pretty great.

  2. I'm not sure I have much to add on this but I am also having trouble agreeing with you. There may or may not be an equivalent supply and demand for tickets at a given show. Sometimes this is true, often it isn't. Either way, in a seated venue, there is way more demand for tickets in row 1 than there is supply. If someone buys a ticket simply to resell it, they are counting on the fact that someone is prepared to pay a premium for that ticket. This is what you seem to be suggesting for RSD. Yes, you can argue if all the RSD stuff was unlimited than flipping would not be an option. So there already is an artificial demand created by RSD. But that demand is only increased by people buying items only to resell them at a profit. You are creating even more of a demand because you are buying it and don't really want it.

  3. A friend of mine (from Wheeling) just turned me on to that show.

Is the format for The Best Show on WFMU always the same? I have been listening to one and host has been talking a LOT, interspersed with calls from apparent social misfits.

    and later....

I was going to say this. I absolutely love Karl Pilkington, and hearing Ricky Gervais laugh at him is just so infectious.

The Gervais podcasts are laugh-out-loud funny - which may be a problem in public. I think some people thought I was crazy.

Also enjoying The Nerdists. Thanks for the heads-up.

  4. + 1 for Savage Love

+ 1 for This American Life

    +1 for All Songs Considered

    also:

Stuff You Should Know - podcast about stuff

Wiretap - comedy with Jonathan Goldstein; you will either love it or hate it

At Issue - CBC current affairs show; probably less interesting for Americans

Age of Persuasion - another CBC podcast; this one about advertising.

  5. I didn't realize that was so rare, or maybe that is just a inflated ebay price. i got mine about six or seven years ago for 25 bucks on ebay. Any one know how many copy's were released? it's a promo release so i would have thought a bunch.

$80 sounds like a lot but I've been keeping an eye out for it and if I see it for any less than $80 I will probably grab it.

  6. ... outfitted myself in a black leotard and tights to best facilitate any tarring, feathering, and riding out of town on a rail...

I hope it's not inappropriate if I suggest this would be a better place if everyone were to be outfitted in black leotards and tights (I just pluralized leotard and have no idea why).

  7. In addition to the "odd troll" thing, the folks with the inside knowledge all seem to agree that even when Bruce makes a plan, it is subject to change up to the moment it is officially announced. So while he may actually be thinking now of doing exacly what LouisvilleGreg's post suggests, it wouldn't take too much to throw this off course. And tickets to a 25 show theatre tour reliving '78 will be pretty hard to get.
