  1. I've requested Magazine Called Sunset at about 6 different shows. Once I stuffed the ballot box and voted for it about 60 times. It was the most requested song for that show.

I have never seen Magazine Called Sunset performed live. Wilco HATES me!

  2. I can certainly see how they would appeal to the "jam band people". But (and this is really just a re-stating of the above), with Wilco, the songs come first and the playing serves the songs. I don't listen to a lot of jam bands and never see them live but that doesn't stop me from generalizing about them - it seems to me that the jam comes first, or the song is a means to get to a jam.

  3. They were selling clear vinyl copies of the "I Might" single in Montreal - leftovers from Solid Sound. No copies of the LP on Sunday.

My partner is somewhat obsessed with the length of "One Sunday Morning" and she timed it (not to the second or anything) - it was about 8 or 9 minutes live.

    Two fairly mindless observations:

    - have I not been paying attention or has the position of Jeff’s mic moved? I seem to remember him always being centre stage but in Montreal, he seemed to be to my left and John seemed to be to my right – so the drums are in the centre but not Jeff

    - maybe it was the angle I was sitting at but those were the longest pants I have ever seen Nels wear

  4. I don't know if this counts or not but I was on an Air Canada flight yesterday and on the TV service, there was a show called "Impact" which I guess is a series about songs that "changed the world" so to speak. The subject song was "I Wanna Be Sedated" and Jeff was interviewed. He referred to punk music as "a 1,000 voices screaming no together resulting in one resounding yes" or something to that effect. He also said in 1978, everybody wanted to be The Ramones but didn't know how.

  5. Shhh. Jeff and some friends will be supporting Feist at a small show next month, you can enter a contest to win tickets here. http://www.cbc.ca/radio2/general2/2011/09/06/feist-contest-win-a-pair-of-tickets-to-see-her-feisty-ness-in-concert/ I'm just posting this for the good juju, and because no one reads this topic anyway. But I will win the tickets!!

Thanks for that. Even though you are winning (like Charlie Sheen), I entered. Cheers!

  6. The price of thia thing is like stock futures, I may have been the last in at $146. Crazy

If you bought at Amazon and the price comes down again before it is released, they will generally charge you the lower price.

  7. All I can say is you people are so lucky you were not at the Ottawa Folk Festival last night. Sooooooooo many people carrying on conversations during acts. Not shouting out requests. Not whopping. Not texting Carrying out ongoing conversations. And at least in my opinion, both acts I saw (Hawksley Workman and Justin Townes Earle) were pretty friggin' engaging.

Go to a bar, save yourself the ticket price, and let those of us there to see the show enjoy the show.

  8. This is great news, assuming that we're talking about a CD box set and not vinyl. I have the two Mermaid Avenue CDs and have never heard the b-sides or outtakes, and I've seen the DVD once but don't own it. I've thought about buying it, but now I'll wait and see if it's included in this box set.

I suspect there will be a CD and vinyl configuration
