If you can transfer paperless to another name, how does that stop the scalpers? They buy tickets, put 'em in your name, and charge you 3X face value.

The Joe Strummer doc, The Future is Unwritten, makes me cry every time.

I haven't seen The Who since their (first?) farewell tour. But I have heard enough good, and little bad, about this tour so far so I just grabbed a prime seat for Ottawa. Looking forward to one more time.

Did I mention I own a few PE LPs. I own a few odd CDs incluidng Arrested Development and Eminem. Someone can take them off my hands any time.
I did see PE a few years ago at Pitchfork, that was kinda fun.

"Them" all of them or "them the CDs? I would be happy to take the PE LPs off your hands any time. I've given up on aquiring/collecting CDs.

I have some but as an overall precentage, very low. I would say 1 or 2%. Trying but old dog here.

By way of Billboard.com:

So the $300 question is:
- stick with what I have (pretty clean versions of most of these)
- grab this
- wait for the mono

Anybody have a waffles invite?

So what are people using these days? It looks like demonoid and waffles are dead.

Just on the skipping thing, even new records can be "dirty". Careless handling in the plant and crap gets in the grooves. Skipping can often be eliminated by cleaning. Wilco75's experience above is probably a case of the grooves being "cleaned" by the stylus.
Now, if you want to get on the topic of cleaning vinyl, that's probably a whole other thread. Many many different opinions on the best approach.
My Summerteeth doesn't skip.

Back in the day, I thought those Les Pauls with the numbers on them were the coolest friggin' things ever

No question but a comment: One of the biggest loses with the dominance of TM is the disappearance of venue specific tickets.

Yeah, they were selling and I think it was leaked studio recordings if I recall. Studio recordings he didn't want released and the selling thing. But over the past 10 years or so, he's pretty much unofficialy made it known he's ok with fans sharing live recordings.

I wonder how someone got thier hands on a Bruce SBD? I can see how in the old days, but in modern times, it can't be that easy.
I suspect it was actually Bruce's people who made it happen with his blessing, either through Sirius radio or in a brown envelope to a friend. He's never been as bootleg friendly as Wilco but as long as you aren't selling them, he is happy to look the other way.

I thought the box set on 15 records was a super-cool idea and if it had still been available when I got to a computer, I would have bought it. $108 for MP3s of it just feels dirty.

He doesn't make much of a compelling argument in terms of anti-downloading but I guess it's hard to make much of an argument with 140 characters. He's welcome to his opinion on it of course but if anybody appreciates a different philosophy to this, it would be Wilco fans. I'm also a little surprised about his apparent lack of knowledge of what is released and what is readily available.
Like a lot of others I've lost touch with this band but if the first 3 or 4 records were reissued on vinyl, I would snap them up in an instant.

Anyone try the Backstreets ticket drop system? I was thinking about it for the Newark show, but not sure if it's worth it. I've heard people scoring some nice seats though.
Recommeded. Just to clarify, the guy who runs it is active on the BTX message board but I don't think he is affiliated with them in any way. But as long as you keep your phone with you most of the time, it works very well.

The title track was used at the end of an episode of Mad Men I saw on the weekend. Forgot how perfect that is.
-
And reportedly, that happened only becase Bruce gave them the ok to play anything they could find, including audience recordings.

Sorry - going to Albany on the 16th.

Does Springsteen officially allow taping - some of the gear being used to tape are great?
No. He seems to generally be fine with stuff shared and traded (not sold) but does not officially allow it.

Amazon shows that it will be released on March 27th, but my confirmation email from blowitouttahere says April 21st...pretty big discrepancy.
I wonder if anyone knows when it will actually come out...
It doesn't show up on the Record Store Day official site but most stores seem to be listing online it with their RSD items so I bet the 21st.
The Boys Opening for the Stones?

One of my favorite Jeff lines of all time came the last time they opened...
"Stick around, the Rolling Stones are coming up next".
