I'd go see that.*
* Though I doubt they'll be coming to my neck of the woods since I think they only played sheds when they got together last year and my local outdoor venue is now sitting empty and surrounded by bulldozers, waiting for somebody to buy the land.
Sounds like yer a Southside Chicagoan..........I say, good day to the World.....good day and good riddance!

Back when Arc/Weld came out, I used to freakout one of my little brothers with the 'noise' disc........I'd come home from the bars, pop it in and go to sleep listening to it, he'd wake up and say WTF is that?
-
I do like Neil. I just find the Arc/Weld albums excessive in the noise department and not very accessible. I don't think I've listened to them more than 3-4 times since they first came out. Just my take, of course.
That was a great tour of Neil's, circa 90 or 91, right?
I recall Sonic Youth opening and most of the crowd was like...............huh, who's this?

Believe it or not, the J. Geils Band, "Live, Full House" from '72 is a scorcher......nothing like their boring studio stuff.....this album makes it very clear they flourished in a live concert setting. I picked up a vinyl version of this album at an estate sale for a buck last summer, slapped it on the turntable and blammo, she's a keeper.......
Judas Priest's "Unleashed in the East" is a timeless classic too. Seriously.

Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
-
"Bad Taste"......one of Peter Jacksons first films.........he also stars in it.
-
I might vote for Double Indemnity.
OCB is correct.

The Asphalt Jungle
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Kiss Me Deadly
For classic trash, you have:
Attack of the Giant Leeches
The Killer Shrews

Juliet in a bikini was hot. Considering that, her enigmatic personality and the old cliche 'still waters run deep'......I'm betting she'd be hot in the sack.

Believe it or not, it is simpler to explain 9/11 by attributing it to a terrorist conspiracy of some complexity than to a government conspiracy to attack its own citizens. Unless you have truly gone through the looking-glass and think al-Qaida is a U.S. government creation.
One might make the arguement that al-Qaida is indeed a US gov't creation (an unintended creation though)............isnt it a known fact that during the Afghan/USSR war, the Reagan admin supported the Afghan nationals and others (including bin Ladens fledgling group as well as factions that later morphed into the Taliban) with arms, money and military training? Without all of which, bin Ladens group never would have 'won' the minor battle against a Russian force that propelled them into greater prominence in the Islamic militant world, thus attracting more recruits and funding.................or maybe I am on the otherside of the looking-glass?

Nerd alert-I still have all my manuals and modules in a box in the garage just waiting for the moment in life when I have more time on my hands for fun n games......back in the day, I was one hell of a Dungeon Master.
RIP Gary!

There's a fairly lengthy article on Pitchfork regarding the album with write up's from other artists whose music or lives were influenced and/or enriched by Aeroplane.
The link:
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/feat...ne-over-the-sea
Hhhhmmmmmmmmmm...............I've never heard of one of those bands interviewed in this article.
Have I lost complete touch with today's music (which is entirely possible since commerical radio is dead to me and any college stations nearby play crap or classic rock) or did the authors interview completely obscure bands/artists?
Whatever the case, I've found myself humming about a two headed boy lately

Prepare to either be taken off into a state of transcendent bliss, or to run away screaming with your hands over your ears.
(I am of the former camp.)
I listened to it a few times over the weekend.......I liked it.....at times I was reminded of early XTC and the Flaming Lips..........it'll never be in heavy rotation but it'll have its moments.

There really is no struggle..........pie takes on all comers and wins handily. It helps that frosting makes me nauseous.
Because of this thread, I googled the f word and "cream pie" together, and got some very odd results. Thanks!heh!

Score!
I just picked up a copy of "...Aeroplane...", brand new vinyl, for 10 bucks.
There's at least one more vinyl copy available at the East Madison store.

anyone who has read the three or four article/interviews floating out there and perused the E6 message board once could of wrriten this article. blah. I think the proper term is boo hiss or something.
I never heard of Mangum until reading that article. I have heard of the Elephant 6 collective but just never got around to picking up any products. I guess I'll try to track down this disc. Off to Reckless Records I go....

That Viola is indeed a monster, prolly my favorite version-even better than 5/2/70-but I'm a big fan of their primal lysergic early years. I like it when music transports the listener and the 1967-68 period can definitely do that.

Cripes, nobody listens to The Jam anymore.
Hey Lammy..........thanks for clearing up a bit of a mystery for me.........'nailed a retread to my feet and prayed for better weather".......I never could figure out that line in 'Half Step' before....now I got it............dont get all smarmy on us though, ok?
-
Wow! I hadn't heard this this. I hope to see them. Me and my buddies were heavily into the Pogues way back when. We always referred to MacGowan as the ugliest man in show business and would always try to find a worthy contender. We always failed.
Was Lemmy from Motorhead considered?

Other than professing publicly my undying love and devotion to my wife (who rocks!), I usually dont do that sort of thing.

NPR said this morning that Marketa is 19. So she was 17 in that film?
I thought she appeared much older in the film.
Btw, I'm perfectly comfortable declaring in public that I loved this flick. The beauty of it almost brought me to tears a few times while watching it.

Jesus, didn't she used to eat?
I asked Julianna Hatfield out once, after a Blake Babies show. She said no. So I bought a tee-shirt from her instead.

Where's the love for Kill 'Em All? Man, that was some face-peeling shit for the early 80s. Ride the Lightning was cool but it was all over when MoP hit. Thats when the jocks found out about 'em.
