Happy birthday, indeed, Satchel. (And yes, I am still upset that Buck O'Neil got denied the HOF. If it ever actually happens, it certainly won't be during his lifetime, which would have been the most inspiring part.)

A little trivia nugget for anyone who wants to feel good about their team... In order to be on track with where we were last year at this time, the Royals would have to lose the next consecutive 30 games. Yeah. I don't even know what to do with that information. I'm just glad we seem to be turning around. And wow, I knew we were abysmal last year, but a smoldering ruin? Yikes.

Really? Then yep, both are still Royals. Neither had a stand-out game tonight, but then again, neither was the reason we blew our two-run lead and lost 6-5. Ah well. There was certainly optimism in the air, which is something that's been missing for way too long. And the pre-Fourth of July fireworks show following the game was incredible. Hats off to the pyrotechnics squad. (So that's where David Glass is spending our salary money...)

Aww, really? That makes me happy. The team has just been in a crap spiral for so long -- there's not much that can be done with our current owner and the way profits are(n't) split in the MLB. It's a tough hand to be dealt. Hopefully Moore will stick with KC long enough to help out a bit.

I'd just like to jump in as a lone Royals fan and congratulate our boys on beating the Cards two out of three games at Busch stadium. I think we've only lost four of the last 13, which is huge. For us. Come on. We've been struggling to break .500 for years. AND, Dayton Moore gets giant props in my book for making a clause in his contract that team owner David Glass (the Wal-Mart devil man) would have no say in Moore's staffing choices. Atta boy, Dayton. KC fans finally have a reason to feel optimistic about the future.
