  1. son volt springsteen Rush! i'm sure neil young will put something out. maybe another archive release along with his memoir.
  2. that's what i thought. thanks.
  3. Carrie is one busy woman. She's also hilarious. She's like the female Wurster counterpart. do they have a bassist?
  4. too bad a tony. get well soon. i'll really be surprised if they get this album done.
  5. that was cool. glad to see this. don't take this the wrong way folks, but i miss wilco with just a straight ahead rock guitar player on jeff's side and those big drums.
  6. i check it once in a while for news. that's all. there are still some very goofy posters there.
  7. no no dude, i'm totally with you on this. just quite trying have no lead guitar sounds better than all the folks he's had in the past. actual solos ended with jerry. everyone else who's filled that spot since then has just noodled at best. this has been so frustrating, especially in ratdog. why is mark karan even in the band? anyway, i love listening to bobby's angular rhythm playing and think it would have been cool if he had selectively rehearsed some dead tunes for ratdog or rearranged them for a new context...bob, piano, sax, bass, drums or something. (i know they had a sax player
  8. the guthrie project will probably be an even set up with each getting 4 tunes or something. maybe jay won't sing that much. he let gibbard sing a lot of his tunes on the last outing.
  9. maybe on his own he has no money. who knows. kickstarts seem to be a great thing though for those cool artists with a loyal fan base...jay farrar could get away with it. bob mould is another.
  10. http://www.tristudios.com/default/index/detail/id/15 this sounds pretty cool. no lead guitar. that would be very cool to my ears.
  11. i wonder if he's going to slow down touring like levon helm did and focus on phil and friends shows at this new venue. as for bobby, switching from project to project so fast for tours is touch and go when it comes to rehearsal. ratdog? i guess i've given up hope of some 'new' music from these guys with a good sound, not necessarily copying the GD sound. guess there's no market for it.
  12. this news got me back to checking out sebastopol and the search. the search stands up...especially with earphones. when it came out i really thought it sounded too slick and poppy. sebastopol is a bit over produced for my taste. i love those tunes stripped down though. Barstow is in the same league as windfall and meth. as far as jay putting something out on par with trace...he's just changed now. he sings differently and he's mellowed a bit. american central dust was a good latter day son volt record.
  13. they sound so generic to me. the vid above sounds just like jackson browne's these days.
  14. i hope jay reeled yim yames in a bit for this guthrie project. not sure about will johnson's involvement, although, ben gibbard was an interesting choice. never understood the appeal of anders parker. for some reason i've always considered jay the real deal similar to dylan, springsteen as great american songwriters. not sure the others fit in. looking forward to this though. also new son volt
  15. i love that show too. i still have the tapes somewhere. think i'll look it up on archive.org. it was definitely one of the better shows with vince. i love bobby's comments to the radio audience...'this is what's known as 'dead air'.
  16. Echos is a little touch and go, but that song Swinging is so great!
  17. I love Picasso Moon. I'm probably 99% Dead. not a huge fan of 65-70 or 91-95. used to love phish. after the first break up, didn't care anymore.
  18. i wish i could get into Radiohead. The only tunes that I've ever really liked by them is airbag.
  19. Neil Young 99% (don't like a few tunes on This Note's For You) Wilco 100% cool topic
  20. just reading about that reunion tour exhausts me, and i'm 30 years younger than these dudes. 50 date tour? my bet it doesn't happen.
  21. been on a dead kick lately. been listening to deadpod-podcast. i just let the professor pick the show. also, my dead cover band had a nice gig with some real heads last weekend. setlist below if you care. i too am inspired by those 73 playin's. in fact i could do playin>darkstar>reprise for 2 hours! playin' jam/reprise> uncle john's> lady with a fan> truckin> new speedway mama tried> mexicali west LA casey jones china/rider sugaree eyes darkstar drums/space knockin on heaven's door all over now miracle> minglewood US Blues
  22. i actually like jeff lynn's production. it was nice to have the snare drum up front in the mix and not gated! also, i like the strummed 12 string on basically every tune he produces. into the great wide open is great. i can see folks not liking it, but you have to admit it's solid. one interesting thing about petty is that i've heard him too much. i was in high school when full moon fever came out so i'm so burned out on that album...even though its great. i guess that's why i like some of his less popular and more recent albums. Let Me Up is great as is Southern Accents, even with
  23. he's definitely one of the few artists that has not had any big mis-steps over decades with drastically different production values. not to mention the dude can write a tight rock single every time out. mojo was a bit too long, but still had some great songs on it. highway companion is also just a tight easy album to listen to. i didn't notice anything about mudcrutch on that twitter report.
