  1. don't forget patience. great great song for the ages. along with sweet child, of course. i liked civil war too.
  2. i heard the la villa from the rush in rio and they do all this goofy comedy stuff which i don't care for. a reggae version of working man doesn't sound too appealing. i think i'll wait on tix and see if the mood hits me as the show gets closer. it's at a big venue and probably wont sell out until the night of the show. i would like to hear camera eye live though :-)
  3. yeah, i'm thinking about going to the show at verizon up in alpharetta, but not too sure. they are doing some goofy long version of la villa and it's quite a trip up there from decatur. i'm torn between the crowes, drive by truckers and rush for the next concert. concerts just aren't as amazing to me in my old(er) age and going to some huge show on the lawn might be a real hassle.
  4. geddy sounds pretty good. so how was the show? not sure i like the slowing down of CTTH for the last verse.
  5. yeah, it's funny the article says that starting late has been a problem on the current european tour. it's been chronic problem for gnr since the beginning. why does anyone give a shit about this asshole?
  6. i agree. lucky town has a kind of 80s sheen to it, but one can def hear the bass, drums, guitar and the space between them. the problem with 80s-early 90s production is that it sounds tinny and reverbed to hell and just plain fake and inorganic. now the problem i see with the o'brian stuff is that it is so compressed one can't discern anything. it's just a mass of muddy chords and thwack of drums. what happened to just drums, bass, guitar, vocals and piano? the blood brothers stuff is produced okay. at least we can hear the instruments. oh well, it's so frustrating. production has rui
  7. yeah, production recently is much better than human touch/lucky town. can you imagine jim orouke producing bruce? very sparse instrumentation so that we could hear everything rather than that compressed mess that the last albums have been. it's ironic that bruce made decisions based on commercial rather than songs. the new promise set seems to me to be a snapshot of bruce writing a shitload, but picking his best...maybe landau had a role in that too. didn't know some of the tunes on devils were that old. interesting. i thought rising was too long. probably 2 really tight albums coul
  8. yeah, it's not catchy, but the lyrics are def not 80s pop.
  9. wow. did not know that about murder inc. thanks for the info. it's interesting and a bit sad to think about how artists make decisions about production, writing and song selection influenced by a business mindset. that being said, tunnel of love is a great album despite its production. have to wonder how that would've sounded produced int he 70s. question crow-how do you like the most recent production by o'brian? i thought devils and dust was a bit overproduced in places. right. they really need a remaster. however, the muddy mix they currently exist in is kind of part of the
  10. well, wasn't all music produced horribly in the 80s i know what you mean though.
  11. can't wait for this either. in true neil fashion, he's not putting two of the tunes he's played on tour on the album...leah and you never call. i really liked both. i can see why leah's not included, but i'll miss you never call. guess we'll have to wait for the archives volume ?
  12. I wonder what Bruce's career would have been like if he had a manager who actually challenged him and pushed him to challenge himself instead of a worshiper. i'm also curious about the above statement. did landaou steer bruce in a more pop direction?
  13. can you say more about the Christic shows. don't know anything about them . i hope that we at least get remasters of greetings and e street shuffle. they are pretty bad in their current state. i wonder if brendan obrien will remix the 80s and early 90s albums like he did with pearl jam. i wouldn't mind that. i remember seeing on charlie rose that he recored a bunch of other songs during tom joad so that might be another set or part of tracks 2. i'm not too familiar with the unreleased stuff as i am with neil young's so this is some fun discovery.
  14. okay, very cool. thanks for the info. i know the manassas song, i just thought it was a crowes song with the same title.
  15. okay, cool. i'm looking at these setlists and not recognizing a few of the tunes. are they playing a handful of covers or unreleased songs? also, i'm surprised they are not playing a lot of Before the Frost stuff. love all those songs.
  16. i always liked those morning dew shirts folks wore in the lot. never got one though.
  17. that video is so badass...i'm speechless. i live for this shit! cannot wait for this. prolly gonna have to buy the whole damn thing! playing sherry once! crazy!!!
  18. who is in JGB? i need to check them out. i know melvin had some gig with steve kimock at some point. and, for what it's worth, i played 'jerry' in my local dead cover band at our pool's food drive. set is below. sounded okay. my buddy let me borrow a vintage amp and fender so i had a 71 jerry thing going on. jam> china cat> rider jam> ramble on rose mr. charlie sugaree mama tried> mexicali miracle> new minglewood franklin's. drumz/space> dark star jam scarlet/fire truckin'> iko> nfa *ripple
  19. yeah, i don't know what it is about furthur. it's like phil and bob playing in a dead cover band. i still think the best post dead incarnation was the first other ones. well-rehearsed (due to bruce) and steve kimock. he's not jerry, but he fills the void in his own way without trying to be jerry. incidently, on the black crowes web series, it was cool to hear chris talk about opening for the dead and how he'll never forget the visions of johanna they played one night. cool. i just cannot believe they are playing there. it is going to be empty.
  20. okay. it's funny, i thought he had that thing going with the singer from trapeze...black country something.
  21. yes, that discussion sparked my interest. some good pop-rock on there. doesn't seem like they play much of it live any more.
  22. dude, i am with on all counts! album art is a big thing for me. i just never had much interest in crowes stuff after southern harmony. however, the frost album really got me interested in them again. i guess i see the album cover as kind of a joke.
  23. that's a nice mellow scarlet. the more i listen, the more i think brent's first 2 and last 2 years are my favorite era of the band. i know each era has its fame (except after brent?), but i just love brent!
