  1. http://www.glidemagazine.com/articles/56026/daniel-lanois-critically-injured-in-motorcycle-accident.html looks like he'll be okay. anyone heard anything by his new project? wonder if this will push back the neil young album he is supposedly producing.
  2. i listened once and was not impressed. however, i heard a song off of snakes and arrows on pandora it really got me. so, i'm interested in the new tracks. however, i'm gonna wait for the album.
  3. why do you think it's odd? just curious. the weird thing to me is that bob's guitar sounds a lot like garcia and he's strumming a lot rather than his usual sparse riffs etc. on another note, i really wish they would just start releasing entire shows/tours for download at the dead site instead of all these pieces on bonus discs etc. i'd also like to see them do tour highlights from the later years. like highlights from summer '92. they weren't playing well, but damn every show had at least a few gems.
  4. http://www.myspace.com/markolsonmusic his myspace page has the cover of the new album and one new song. it is excellent!
  5. i thought they had played Camera Eye at some point? maybe not. it's the 30th anniversary for moving pictures. good point about Echos more Meddle. Atom heart would be much better with out the choir in my opinion. my favorite rush album is Hemispheres.
  6. OMG...last night was excellent!
  7. yes, the documentary looks so good. i may actually get into this new album. i mean, with all their changes in 'sound' its still rush. hell, i've been listening to roll the bones recently. i first saw them on the presto tour. so great. jff-i think i'm gonna go to the show at verizon in sept. even though it is outside.
  8. http://www.amazon.com/Caravan-digital-booklet/dp/B003MX4YTK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1275365020&sr=8-2 didn't know if anyone cared. they are touring this summer and playing the entire Moving Pictures album. i think i might go. as for the new songs...meh.
  9. now, some songs may seem like they are about cars, but are actually about women...trampled under foot being one? how about Red Barchetta-Rush
  10. i wish he would play the south. saw him solo in '03 and it was so damn good. his songs work well in that context. i love artists whose songs boil down to solo acoustic...tweedy, neil young, etc.
  11. well, when i initially posted about this, i wasn't considering him a technically amazing guitarist. he's not, like tweedy is not. but he has what the technically proficient do not have, feeling. he can write a catchy riff like nobody's business. again, not a fan, but if i went to see foos in concert, i'd probably know every song...just like if i went to see john mellencamp, tom petty, cold play etc. in a world of hip hop shite the fact that foo fighters are a pop standard is pretty neat. (not to mention the dude is a drummer and when his first band broke up he picked up the guitar and st
  12. there's lots of folks who would disagree with you. lots. i'm not a fan though. gotta give the guy credit though. and, he's def got his own drum sound which is saying a lot.
  13. yeah, that is really a disturbing. the baby in the play pen. right. and the t-shirts and stuff. so, how did you like the show. i was pleasantly surprised. i guess neil busted out 2 more songs for spartanburg...heart of gold and old man.
  14. i know this is supposed to be funny, but dave grohl is a damn good guitarist. not a fan of foo fighters at all, but i respect the fucking shit out of that guy. it is staggering that he was the drummer in nirvana (a genre defining band) AND is one of the best rock drummers in history AND not only plays guitar well, but is a riff master and writes smash hits. incredible.
  15. yeah, bob and rob was fun. i wish they had played more small venues. i saw them at an outside shed which blew. that live album they put out several years is really good. i like throwin stones too. also, victim works well acoustic, interestingly:) that disc is also a good greatest hits pack for weir's solo stuff. his solo albums are a bit over produced for me.
  16. i luckily got to see jerry band in '93. even though it was the 90s, i remember it being one of the best shows i have ever seen. so jammed out!! i always remember reading in relix about jerry band runs at the warfield with planet drum opening. always thought that would be such a great time. just heads.
  17. God's away, God's away, God's away on business. Business! just felt like writing that. it's the truth though, isn't it.
  18. like most 18 minute songs, it could be shorter. i thought it was so weird that he put it on CDII. take a track that was obviously cut and produced in 1988 and slap it on a new album. i think hitchhiker will be on the new album, re-recorded.
  19. yeah, the neil solo remasters are great. still some volume issues between tracks, but way better than before. btw-i love interstate. so good. not a huge fan of ordinary people. i preferred it acoustic. do i really have to admit that i'm joking:)
  20. yes, i would much rather have good remasters of the albums rather than the box set. the remasters of those albums sound pretty bad and nothing like the recent remasters of neil's first four albums.
  21. yes, i lost my copies at some point and have been holding off getting them and waiting for the remasters. i would think fall, if not next spring.
  22. yeah, in this solo version he doesn't really strum chords, but plays feedback and sings over that. kind of interesting, but glad it wasn't any longer than it was. he did down by the river like this two, but more strumming. didn't work too well. that was the only dud of the night for me.
  23. good points Rob. btw, i was bummed that neil didn't play teach your children. damn it!!
