I had to look that one up. Brian James. Seems like there was a revolving door for bass players though.

What's the original member to replacement ratio?
Well, let's see, Captain Sensible and Dave Vanian are the only two that really matter, and they're both there. No Rat Scabies though. The current drummer was one of the original English Dogs, though, if that makes any difference.

I'm a big fan of the Damned. I've only seen them once, and they were part of a large tour including The Misfits, who headlined, so The Damned didn't play a full set. I was shocked to see that The BellRays are opening up for them in New Haven! I had planned on seeing them before and it never worked out. This is a nice surprise!

Deer Tick was great too. I found the vocals much more listenable in the live setting than I had when listening to their album, which was a plus. The lead singer was incredible to watch on the guitar - finger-picking and all.
I 100% agree. I saw them open up for Jenny Lewis and really liked them. Then I bought the album and didn't dig it at all. Playing live is definitely their strength.
Glad you had a great time!

I have the following issues of Magnet: #54 and #57.
Creepy Magnet stalker.

I didn't need a song to tell me that.

This is so bizarre. With no logical explanation, I woke up this morning with a song from A Mighty Wind running though my head. And it wasn't even one of my favorites, it was "Potato's In The Paddy Wagon". And now I read this. It's a sign.

I won't elaborate on this, but let me just say that this board has an uncanny way of bringing up subjects at the exact time I'm thinking of them. Bjorn, Cryptique, I feel ya!

I'm going to see them tomorrow night in Pittsburgh - very excited!
It took me a good 4 or 5 listens, but the new album has really grown on.
Have a great time!!

they went in a different direction when he was still in the band. Angel Dust was unlike anything they had done before.
Sure, Angel Dust was a great departure from their previous material, and an incredibly successful one. But then there was another shift when JM left which wasn't as successful, IMO.
-
They went in a different direction without him though, that I don't think was as successful. I still love King For A Day, though.
-
Yes on both counts. I was also surprised they didn't play 'Good', since that seems like an obvious choice for a live song. I read the setlist from the Boston show though, and it looks like they changed things up. So I guess it just depends on what they felt like playing.

I think my job is pretty secure (although one never knows). I just booked airfare for a trip to England and Ireland in November. I haven't been to London since 2000 and I'm really looking forward to seeing some friends I haven't seen since then.

I saw one of their early shows in NoHo, and they were pretty tight then, but now it seems like they're reading each others' thoughts.

I worked in Milford, CT for years and have never heard of Daniel Street.
EDIT: Wait, yes I have....it's so TINY!

The more I listen to "Sunstroke" the more I think we are both correct. I think he talks to both Patterson and Shonna in the song. The song is ultimately aimed at the entire band.
I went to NYC last night for the show. Man, that band just blows my mind. They are all SO good. I was in front of Browan and it's mesmerizing watching him play. I'm waiting for someone else to post a setlist, but one of the highlights was their cover of 'Into The Mystic'. And they played 'The Assassin' to send Patterson good wishes for a speedy recovery! There were two disappointments though....no 'Decoration Day' and no 'However Long'. But we did get 'Danko/Manuel', 'Goddamn Lonely Love', 'Outfit', and 'Never Gonna Change'. I have a feeling DD was supposed to be the final encore song but the club cut them off. Oh, and, HOLY SHIT does 'Sunstroke' sound good live!!!

"Enjoy the Hanukkah cookie, man."

Shhhhh!

The spelling of one threw me too. But I still missed one. I forgot that one character was related to the Bluths.
Yup!
-
and spell one of them.
That's what ate up my extra time. If I had another 15 seconds I think I could have remembered the last one.

Oh, INXS where one of the great pop bands/live acts of all time, no guilt there for me!
