  1. a couple more: Desperados Under The Eaves by Warren Zevon I was sitting in the Hollywood Hawaiian Hotel I was staring in my empty coffee cup I was thinking that the gypsy wasn't lyin' All the salty margaritas in Los Angeles I'm gonna drink 'em up And if California slides into the ocean Like the mystics and statistics say it will I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill Don't the sun look angry through the trees Don't the trees look like crucified thieves Don't you feel like Desperados under the eaves Heaven help the one who leaves Still waking up in the mornings with
  2. "I don't know why they even bother puttin' this highway on the map, anybody that's ever been on it knows exactly where they're at" Mike Cooley (Drive by Truckers) "There's a hole in daddy's arm, where all the money goes. Jesus Christ died for nuttin', I supposed" - John Prine "Now its over I'm dead and I haven't done anything that I want, or I'm still alive and there's nothing I want to do" Linnell (They Might Be Giants) and all add onto the "Dear Chicago" Ryan Adams response "Dear Chicago You'll never guess, you know the girl you said I'd meet someday? Well I got something to confess.
  3. wait, so this song isn't about a young, pale, innocent Lindsay Lohan? My mom always lies to me!
  4. Now Mr. Murphy will have to change his lyrics to "Daft Punk is playing on the Bud Light Main Stage. Bud Light Main Stage." Just doesn't flow as well.
  5. Im sure there are studio versions of all these songs that will be on EPs or maybe they'll pull that "they rerelease the album 6 months later with a bonus disc or bonus tracks so you have to buy it twice" move. Either way, I'm officially excited.
  6. Agreed! But they (rolling stone) started it.
  7. Although John Mayer looks like he is diseased when he sings, I have to admit he is a great guitar player. I got dragged into seeing his "trio" and enjoyed it, and also seen him perform "Dirty Laundry" at the Henley tribute. I always wished hell upon the man too, but I'm suspecting that people who are putting him down have only heard him singing about wonderlands and have never seen him play live. I also bet its because he is a white prettyboy. as far as the rest of the list, some good picks, but if your gonna include guitarists from Pearl Jam and Radiohead, why not throw in a little Dinos
  8. Hey man, I checked out your music and I think you guys sound pretty good. Just a warning, I've been around this board for a while and it is NOT somewhere you come looking for reassurance or kind words. This section of the board should not be titled "someone else's song" it should be "putting down others for liking music."
  9. same here, PM your email addys. I think I have 5
  10. If neither Black Napkins or Watermelon in Easter Hay by Zappa make a list of guitar solos, I disregard it immediately
  11. I already responded to the last thread and said rhett miller and the johns from TMBG... but now I'll second the nomination for Zappa and add Craig Finn from The Hold Steady to the mix....
  12. I was at the Metro for the show. It was nothing short of amazing. I love it when a band is having just as much fun as the audience. Those are the artists I don't mind dishing out money to.
  13. first Wilco album I bought as well. I remember getting ready for 7th grade and seeing a music video of people jumping out of a plane and making my brother take me straight to the record store after school. I was the only kid in 7th grade who didn't listen to Snoop Dogg anymore!
  14. anyone know anything about who will open the Friday night show? too bad its not califone both nights.
  15. I was just wasting some time on pollstar and it looks like Califone is opening up on night 2. Not sure if this is old news, just found it interesting.
  16. For the Zappa Plays Zappa show I had AAA Right, and they were actually pretty bad. You could basically only watch whoever is on the right side of the stage and nothing else. Any row behind it and center is much much better. Congrats to everyone who got tickets, those who didn't.... I'm sure you'll get some nice ones Friday or Saturday!
  17. Friday, Row J Seats 303 and 304, who are my neighbors?
  18. nope, I was there and it was like that on the jumbotron while it was happening. Great set and AMAZING weekend.
  19. Sleeping Aids and Razorblades is an amazing song.
  20. I'll be there next weekend from start to finish. Same with this weekend at Pitchfork. I love summer.
